  1. I tested the two different woofers (both K-33) from the Cornwalls and got different values. Number 1 (round magnet) has fs 37, qt .58, vas, 6.8cf, 93 db. Number 2 (square magnet) has fs 28, qt .31, vas 13.3cf, 96db (which is similar to my own K-33 woofers). Number two has the smaller dust cap with vent and must be a replacement probably from a different manufacturer.
  2. Schu, that would be cheaper and faster! But then the question is what color - standard ugly red, pea green or Scooby Doo blue?? So many choices.
  3. Thanks, should be fun. I removed the speakers and tested them - one bad K-77 but owner is replacing with Crites tweeters. Ripped out the old insulation and installed a small brace inside in the slot port to avoid the top of slot piece from vibrating as much. Removed screw in handles and eye bolts on top and will fill with dowels/water putty before veneering. I'll also put in some bracing. More later
  4. I've heard it called Kimsul upholstery batting. Its in the C1 I just opened up getting ready to redo but this one is in pretty good shape for 1979 model
  5. Buddy of mine found these at Savers (like Goodwill). He had just walked in store when Savers brought them out. $140 for the pair!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After thinking about it for a nanosecond he bought them complete with chicken wire installed in front of woofer from inside. Must have been in a bar or theater based on handles and bolt holes an chicken wire ala bar scene in Blues Brothers. I am redoing these for him using curly walnut aircraft veneer. I'll replace the 2 and 4uf caps on the B network with some Sonicraft caps (he didn't want to spend more). I haven't picked them up yet but he says one K-77 tweeter might not work. These had a 1/4" pa jack in back and it may be lose. Both woofers are K-33 (one square magnet and one round). The square magnet has a vented smaller dustcap than the other woofer. I'll test specs on woofers as part of redo. No grill frames so I'll build those. Plan on inserted solid walnut corner blocks and front trim. These have the old upholstery stuff on walls. Anyone think I should keep it? Other than being old it is relatively good shape. I may add some cross and front to back bracing as well.
  6. Does anyone know if the specs are same on the K-1089AV all cerametallic woofers used in RF7ii as comared to the K-1089AV with black dust cap used in the RF7?
  7. Dean, I may have this at home. Do you know the Klipsch number like 116435 etc?
  8. Here is the T-4000/5000 xover. Very similar to HII but uses 47 uf on woofer leg instead of 68 uf and 1 uf on mid versus 1.5uf on HII mid and the mid and tweeter polarities are switched.
  9. I've been reading and enjoying this topic immensely and don't mean to derail it but I have a question re the RF7ii horn driver. From the pics posted by Youthman the horn driver is a K-701-G and appears larger than the K-67 driver used in the RF7. Does anyone know the differences between the two drivers and who makes the K-701-G? I saw where the K-67 may be sourced from PAudio.
  10. The Heresy only goes to about 50Hz on a good day because it is really a vented box woofer in a sealed box enclosure. Size constraints requires it to be 2cf. You can put the H woofer in a properly designed box and go lower but now as low as Cornwall K-33 woofer in a properly designed box. Tradeoffs galore.
  11. Welcome to the forum Paul. The short answer is "yes" you can use the H components in the Cornwall cabinet ..... but you will need to modify the front baffle to accept the smaller 12" H woofer as well as the mid horn cutout. In addition, the H woofer won't need the C large cabinet and you will probably need to fill some of the interior space with Styrofoam or something else to take us come cubic inches. You'll need the T?S You'll also have to calculate new port dimensions. That's a lot of work. You may consider using the K-33 woofer in a C box with the mid and tweeter horns in H. Make sure the woofer impedances match and you may have to tinker with the woofer x over section and check the mid ant tweeter spl to match the 15" woofer.
  12. Here is the WT2 specs I got on the 1056. Hope this helps.
  13. These computer dealywhops are confusing!!! Must have been late but I found an "unblock" button and hit it. Don't know how it happed but I apologize profusely!
  14. DJK, didn't mean to hit any button to ban you!!!! Don't know how that happened but it was a mistake. I DEFINITELY want your input! I'll see if I can fix it somehow even though I don't know how to ban anyone!
  15. Use cord weatherstripping from Home Depot at $5 a roll 8 beads wide x 90ft x 1/8" thick. Here is the link. http://www.homedepot.com/s/cord%2520weatherstripping?NCNI-5 Not caustic easy to form to woofer and horn frames. Can be peeled away if necessary. Use this on a refoam pair of 8" woofers for a friend and he told me the bass sounded better (without knowing why).
  16. You could just attach your braces to the top or bottom of the installed braces, glue, staple/screw together and the cutout the installed brace to conform to your new brace. I would uses some 3/4" square glue blocks on side of cabinet using PL Premium adhesive attached with screws, glue it all together let adhesive dry and the cutout old brace. Just a thought.
  17. Great build! Are you doing to vent woofer out the bottom? I assume that would extend low end response as well. Keep posting pics.
  18. I emailed Eminence about 15677 years ago and was told it is the K-48-E woofer with Fs 42 hz, qt.35, vas 166 liters, 97udb 1w/1m and 4 ohm impedance. Was used in the Chorus II I was told. Pierre Toutant of Toutant Electrics sold these (when he passed away his daughters sold these cheap like $10each!) Hope this helps.
  19. Thanks Dean for responding to my request. I completely understand your agreement with Klipsch. Anyone consider using the K-1089AV woofers in a three way with a lower mid xover at 750Hz and added high tweeter like a KLF20 setup?
  20. Thanks for the response DJK. I thought the efficiency may be too low. So would it be around 4db less efficient - around 100db horn loaded?
  21. DJK, as Sargeant Schultz would say "VERY INTERESTING"! I've got 8 8" Pinnacle subs laying around with poly cone and butyl surrounds with 31Hz fx, .27 qt, .29qe, 56lit vas, 89db 1w/1m, and revc 6.2 ohms. 4db less sensitivity than the Silver Flutes. Any idea how these puppies would work in this application? Thanks.
  22. BB I have scads of the red and black binding posts if that's what you need. PM me and I'll send you some for free.
  23. Sorry to get in this discussion late but does anyone have the RF7ii crossover schematic? I've looked for it and can't find it. I have the RF7 schematic but I know Klipsch changed the xover in the RF7ii to 1200hz from the RF7 2200Hz point so the schematic on the RF&ii has to be different. I read where this was done because the RF7 horn wouldn't cover down to 1200hz. Is Klipsch using the K-67-DV tweeter compression driver it used in the RF7 in the RF7ii or another driver? Sorry if I've missed this info on the forum. Sometimes I shut the gate after the cows are long gone. Dean G if you could help me out that would be great. Thanks.
