  2. Two mid drivers on a single conical horn with the HF driver at the apex of the horn.
  3. Heresy, 3% FMD at 90dB Cornwall, 3% FMD at 100dB Klipschorn, 3% FMD at 110dB (40hz and 350hz mixed)
  4. The EAW CP621, and various Renkus-Heinz predate the Danley.
  5. "Couldn't see spending that much on woofers that only had 6mm xmax" 5mm will have excessive FMD when trying to cover three octaves (or more).

  7. "That's not a diaphragm that you linked to nor is it $20.00." The link is to the only decent functioning K77 diaphragm that I am aware of, and no, it's not $20 "The seller "simplyspeakers" sells quality replacement parts. I've used them numerous times." The $20 ones "simplyspeakers" shipped me are complete and utter garbage (I own test equipment too).
  8. "You still at the Rock?" For the time being, the company is making a serious effort to get the old dogs to quit. What are you up to?
  9. The foam in the mouth of the Peavey horn is recessed into the walls of the horn, the horn is stepped back where the foam is.
  10. You need a new diaphragm, the brown piece on the magnet must never come off the black piece on the horn. The $20 aftermarket diaphragms are garbage. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-La-Scala-Factory-K-77-F-Tweeter-Horn-Diaphragm-Faceplate-Assembly-127126-/151254367672?hash=item2337767db8:g:jcMAAOxy3HJTI3ez
  11. "I have BassBox Lite and like it. I'll run it with these parameters and see what happens." The numbers I gave were using BassBox v5.183
  12. " Fs=33hz Qms=4.61 Vas=6.02 cu ft X-max=3.91mm Sd=86 sq in Qts=.351 No=1.55% SPL=94.8dB/2.83V/1M Qes=.38 Re=6.8 Le=1mH (not sure of this) Z=8 ohms Bl=15 Pe=100W " I used these parameters years ago to build a 5,000 cu in box tuned to 33hz, or 10,000 cu in for two. Used with a Q=2 high-pass filter at 33hz they sounded incredible. I used an Atlas PD4V on an Electro-Voice 8HD horn, and the same Motorola KSN1016A tweeter Klipsch used in the MCM1900 five-tweeter array.
  13. It varies. As the stamping tool wears it is refinished, so the frame gets larger in diameter. At some point a new tool is built and it starts all over again (small).
  14. Goop! (shoe goo) is great stuff for this kind of repair, don't let it get onto the roll of the surround though.
  15. "I think that Nelson Pass said that if you can keep your hand on the heat sink for five seconds or so, it is okay." Yes, and that's about 140°F. The ADS powered car speakers would thermal out in direct sunlight, and not even turn on.
  16. "You didn't just open the PE catalog and decide all those parts would work together, someone did a lot of research and thinking to come up with that. Is there a back story, or a project you have put together some time in the past?" I own all of the parts I linked to, and also use a speaker with the CA154 biamped with the EV DH1a and HP940 for PA. The horn was used in the Club Series Yamaha monitors (with an Eminence driver), and sounds quite good.
  17. "given the name" His wife?
  18. I've done it with the Cornwall, it works well.
  19. "What's the difference between them?" Nothing.
  20. "Maybe because PWK chose permanent magnets as the more thrifty "solution?"" Original Klipschorn used a field coil driver. If you read the article about it one of the measurements he made was with the field coil shut off.
  21. Older Krells used 200°C rated Motorola transistors, they run just fine at junction temperatures of 100°C. Capacitorshave reduced life in amplifiers that run as hot as your Krell does.
