  1. Holy cow I think your right.... This one is almost identical http://www.dared.us/MP-2A3C.htm only difference is two of the tubes they use are different.
  2. Here you go: http://www.klipsch.com/products/discontinued/details/cornwall.aspx also just in case: http://www.klipsch.com/products/discontinued/details/cornwall-ii-1.aspx
  3. I was at my London Drugs of all places and I found out that they are an authorized Klipsch dealer. I also saw this amp for sale http://www.vuumaudio.com/AMP.htm for 999.99 Canadian(or roughly 940 American dollars). I have never seen any new tube amps in stores before and was wondering if this one is worth the price.
  4. The best thing to do I think is to try listening to the same song or movie or whatever you wish and try it in all the sub locations to see what sounds best for you. In my tiny room I can't really tell much difference in where it is so I just leave it where I have access to it. I let my receiver do it's auto setup and it sounds great in movies but for music I usually turn up my sub volume so having access to it is nice.
  5. Does having the tv so high up make it any less uncomfortable to watch movies? And does the supernova sub sound good with the Klipsch speakers? I know a guy who can get me a good deal on earthquake stuff so I might go that way also.
  6. If you go to Winamps website(www.winamp.com) you can find a couple of plug-ins for flac files. I have a friend who uses Winamp for his flac files so it should be easy to get Winamp to play them. Also make sure that in your option you have the maximum ripping speed set to max(might only be in pro version). I couldn't figure out why before I could only rip at like 6x... I changed that and it let me rip at like 24x(maximum for my drive).
  7. Thanks DrWho I have it working now. But I also have more questions too. My first question is if I plug my amp into the switched power on my receiver will it be able to handle the power of the amp? On the Denon it says 120w max but on my amp it says 800w max next to the cord. I have a feeling this is a dumb question and that I shouldn't plug it into the switched power....but hey you never know. My second question is why is the led watt meter not moving? I can't crank it up a lot right now so it can't check if it works at higher volumes. I guess I want to know how many watts that it uses at lower volumes. The meter goes from .03 to 300 watts doubling every time. I have it at a little bit higher than talking volume and it still stays at .03 watts. Is this normal? My last question is one of the questions I asked before... and that is: should I use the what I think is a ground wire that is attached to the chassis of the amp and screw it into the ground screw next to the phono on my receiver?
  8. I have never used pre-outs on a receiver before so I am kind of lost here. I am trying out my dads old SAE amp on some cheap speakers I have. On the back of the amp it has two female RCA ends for each channel. For each channel there is a plug that says wide and a plug that says high-pass above/below the plugs. Which one do use with the pre-outs on my Denon? Or do I use a Y-cable? Also the cable my dad used seems to have a ground wire attached to the chassis.... Should I use this? If so how? Sorry for the newbie questions.
  9. Until about a month ago I would never have know what a vacuum tube is or does or what it looks like. But upon reading what people say about them(mostly how awesome they sound) I decided to research and learn what they are. I think I understand the very basics of how they work for the most part. To my understanding, these tubes use a heater to heat up a cathode that emits electrons that gather on a metal plate called an anode. Because the cathode is hot the electrons can only go onto the anode. This setup makes it a diode that converts AC current to DC current. What I don't understand is what the "control grid" does and how it makes the diode into a triode that amplifies the signal. Please correct me if I am wrong and help me understand the basic dumbed down version of how vacuum tubes work.
  10. Also make sure you have the latest drivers for your sound card.
  11. Doesn't Klipsch also own Jamo?
  12. Hey fellow Albertan! Are you using Windows Vista by any chance? Windows Vista is still buggy and I know creative(the company that makes Soundblaster) is still having troubles with drivers. Microsoft decided to entirely change the way it handles it's audio, meaning that most(maybe all) hardware accelerated sound doesn't work properly.
  13. I don't think that the Pioneer receiver is high current like the HK or Yamaha. I spent a long time picking out a receiver and for me I found that Denon was the best value. I had a Pioneer receiver before and it doesn't even compare to my Denon. The Denon definitely has more power. Also try to find a better place than Best Buy for electronics. Sure they sell all these good brands but they tend to only sell their lower end stuff. Hope this helps a bit.
  14. I wish I had seen this before I bought my Denon 2807. I paid 1200 Canadian dollars for mine. Also this receiver is awesome. I don't like the auto setup on stereo speakers...but it works ok for full surround sound. I can't wait till I get my speakers next weekend to really hear what this receiver can do. Shouldn't take long to find a buyer at that awesome price.
  15. I am sure there are little things you can do that will make minimal differences. But it looks so horrible because you are stretching a 480 x 720 picture I believe it is, to a probably 1920 x 1080 resolution, or whatever your TVs native resolution is. You can always spend the extra money and get the high def digital cable or satellite, but there is only gonna be like 20 channels in HD probably. I think I am only getting 13 HD channels from my cable company.
  16. Sethhobrin...Wouldn't your TV get too hot right in front of a window like that?
  17. On my computer I use a 1/8" stereo plug that splits it to two RCA plugs and then I have a two female to one male RCA adapter plugging it into my stereo and that seems to work for me. Also my Vista every once in a while likes to turn off the option to enable digital input/output for some reason. Vista is still really flawed I guess.
  18. Did you somehow turn it off on your receiver menu?
  19. Wow.... Couldn't understand a lick of it LOL. You guys must have been doing this for a loooooong time.
  20. So how do I calculate or find out what kinda fuse to use? I see at the source(radio shack in the us still, I think) they sell in-line fuse holders in different sizes that hold glass tube fuses. Would these be what to use? Or is there better ones?
  21. So what are Spinner and Noah mean by fusing my speakers? Should I really be worried about killing a set of rf-82s with a 150 watt amp?
  22. Spinner what do you mean by fuse your speakers?
  23. I have come across one of my dads old amps and wanted to know if anyone knows anything about it, such as what the quality might be like on it. It is a SAE 2300 amp. It has 175 watts per channel it was made from 1976-1982. I did a tiny bit of research and found out this company went bankrupt in 92. On the back panel I found this information: 150 watts(34.6V RMS) at 8 Ohms 150 watts(24.5V RMS) at 4 Ohms 75 watts(34.6V RMS) at 16 Ohms THD < 0.05% from 250mW to rated power Intermodulation Distortion < 0.05% from 250mW to rated power Input impedance - 50 KOhms I know what the THD is but I have never heard of Intermodulation distortion. The reason I am asking about this amp is that I think I want to use it for my RF-82s that I am hoping to buy with the next two weeks because this amp has slightly more power than my Denon receiver. Plus it has an awesome led vu meter on the front I have always loved.
  24. Thanks for the help. I definitely wont try to bi-amp them then.
