  1. Run your Component cable to your 663 and then you will just have one HDMI from receiver to TV it will handle all of it and the switching will be done by your Yamaha. The hdmi you have your cable/ sattelite box hooked up to is the dvd slot that is why you have to set it on dvd. Not really an issue.
  2. The fortes are not harsh at all. They still have all the detail but just a little richer. As far as tweeking the synergy with reference parts I would not. Now having said that the heresy are not reference, they are heritage series, fortes are called by some extended heritage series.. Completely different animal.
  3. Some of these companies will send you the wrong product when they don't have what you want in stock and give you such a hard time that most people give up before they ever get what they wanted. They will put the high pressure sale on you to buy their useless extended warranty. And when I say hard time I'm talking about threats and lies trying to force you to buy other product before you can return the original incorrect product. All of which are illegal tactics but that doesn't seem to stop these companies from doing it. I'd say their must be some lack of enforcement in NJ or lenient laws because they all(the really crappy online electronics dealers) do seem to be based out of there. Resellers rating.com can be your friend.
  4. It's all in your head. But is that any reason to ignore the voices? I have some of the Fortes and I can guarantee they are a huge step up from synergy products. Not that the synergys are bad.
  5. I cannot offer any comparison as I've not heard Heresy. But those Fortes will knock your socks off. What are the prices? I have been told the fortes will go louder I own both Fortes and Forte IIs and of course they'll get deeper but they are large by SOME peoples standards. I love my fortes
  6. Look at the sherwood 2channel at Radio shack it is normally $99 but I saw the other day for $59.99 I've heard decent things about it. I believe there are members here who use it.
  7. You guys tell me if this will work or not I currently have a FOrte II sideways under mt TV for a center channel with a TV stand under that for Equipment. The TV is just too high and not very stable. I want to eliminate the stand and make a Center channel with both driver and passive facing forward and the mid & tweeter between mounted on a swivel panel so that I can tilt it upwards. If I am not mistaken The horns do not have to be inside of a sealed enclosure correct?I can do the math and get the drive/passive box to the correct volume and think it could look very nice but would it sound good? The reason for the tilt panel is so I don't have the tweeter aiming at my shins. If my cabinet volume is the same but configured differently will it change the sound drastically? Thanks for your input. Rick
  8. I wouldn't buy from that seller if he had the last set and they came wrapped around Angelina Jolie.
  9. My daughter Sarah is Almost 11 months old and I'm 6'4'' 375 lbs
  10. Yes you will notice a difference. Is it worth the price? that depends on your bank account. If you have plenty of money set aside for things like emergencies I'd say yes. but I wouldn't spend it if you don't have the extra cash. IMO of course.
  11. I have always used a diamond blade on an edge grinder and found it to be very versitile. You do have to have a steady hand though. And yes wear a dust mask.
  12. I found an old Zenith single channel Tube radio in a thrift shop is it worth it to grab something like this to try to use the amp from it? I know it is only mono but everything seems intact and all the tubes are there. A lot of dust but you could at least see what tubes are required even if they all need replacing.
  13. Was watching the Price Is Right the other day and they gave away a complete Klipsch system. I'm not positive but it looked like RF-82s and matching surrounds plus a sub. I had to rewind and look again but it was Klipsch. Had it paired witha Denon Reciever. I hope the guy appreciates what he was given.
  14. My wife who works at Radio Shack had a customer come into the store looking for those "tube thingies" and proceeded to pull a Mac Amp out of his car. Of course they don't carry them any more and the guy said well I guess this thing is just a boat anchor. She let him leave without getting his name or anything.
  15. All politics aside the facts posted in the first post can be checked. whether you want to claim they mean nothing or you want to claim they show how great our economy is really doing. It is an easy matter to prove or disprove whether the statements are indeed true. As to the issue of most people being one major injury away from bankruptcy. I'd love to see some hard facts that show that.
  16. While I believe the sx 1500 to be an excellent sounding reciever, they don't sell for very much. The last one I saw went for about 50 bucks on ebay. I have one myself I am debating repairing. there are a few of the silver face pioneers that command large amounts of money but that model is not one of them. The ones that bring a huge amount of money are the sx 1980, the 1050, the 1250 and a few others. Typically the higher power units are the ones that have high resale values. I believe the 1500 is rated about 35 watts per channel.
  17. I've heard both and prefer the Rf series myself. I think they just have a better sound overall. Congrats on the new setup. You'll love it. As for the biwiring or bi amping I personally don't think it's worth the expense and effort.
  18. Ckat, I'll make a prediction. Inside of a year you will have sold the smallerspeakers at a loss and buy another set that is larger. You'll wish you had just listened to a few of the more sensible advise on here. Take em back and find your self some fortes. You'll never regret it.
  19. I had a friend of my wifes over the other night to listen to my Fortes and he went home and immediately purchased a set of KG-4s from somewhere. I told him they are not quite Fortes but they are very good sounding speakers. Anyway I will direct him to this forum next time I speak to him.
  20. This statement answers it's own question. They are not heritage and will not sound nearly as nice.
  21. Check your local Radio Shack they still stock larger antenna in some areas. And yes any UHF antenna will pick up HD signals.
  22. I use an older Adcom GFA-1a with my Fortes and love it.
  23. I actually use an adcom amp and that is what my B&W were hooked up to. They sounded just fine to me. But that is the reason for all the different brands. We all have different tastes. Like an earlier poster said the type of music makes a difference as well. For lighter stuff the B&W are the better speaker(just barely). When I want to watch an action movie or listen to something extremely Dynamic then the Fortes definitely get the nod. I've heard the 800s and the 801s from B&W and I'll say they are better sounding than the Jubilees I've heard but then the price reflects that if I'm not mistaken. I actually don't know what the Jubilees cost but I know the 800 cost 11,500 ea.
