  1. Much higher levels of jitter over HDMI
  2. Thanks, the thought never even crossed my mind. Now all I need is for a single oiled oak Khorn to come up for sale locally.
  3. Oh, your the one that bought it. I sure regret selling now. Hopefully you have been happy with it.
  4. I would be very surprised if they are MDF. The corners would never hold up. My KPT surround speakers are Plywood.
  5. What if someone wanted to lay one on it's side and use it as a center channel? That would be perfect for my situation (except for finding a single match for my Khorns) How much of a bottom (the side now in this configuration) would you need to put on it to make it work? would it need more than a copy of the lower plate on the top horn section? That would be easy to do.
  6. Guy says they were painted but looking at the tags they appear to be factory white.
  7. I went to get them, and decided to pass. They are worth $500 but they need quite a bit of body work. I just refinished one to an auto body type finish and for all the work it took I could have worked overtime at my job and paid for a brand new pair of Lascalla IIs. These were in worse shape than that one was. I thought if I could just lightly sand and spray fresh paint it would be worth it, but these need more. Again they are probably worth $500 just not to me. I don't mind the idea of the alerts section but in the past some overenthusiastic members have taken it upon themselves to call sellers and let them know what they think the item may be worth, even if that value is wrong.
  8. I am going to get these. Please nobody call the guy and tell him they are worth more. (seems crazy but it has happened before). It will take me an hour to get there. I wish everyone could give the locals a chance for a day or two before putting stuff here.
  9. If I ever win the lottery, I will put a trio of Jericho Horns behind the screen of my new home theater. I will let you know how they sound.
  10. Danley is a genius. I have a couple of DTS10s and like them a lot. I wish I could hear some SH50s. I think they could replace my Khorns with no regrets.
  11. Maybe they should stop selling any speakers to anyone if its more trouble than its worth. I hope they don't. Do you really want to send the speakers back (because that would be your right), or do you just want the XOs to get there yesterday or the day before?
  12. 1. They sent him the wrong product 2. They are expecting him to open up the produc,t and repair it with the parts they sent him. 3. He paid for a complete product that he selected, and he did not get the product he paid for. What would you think if you bought a new car and when you took it home found out that parts were missing, and the Dealer said here are the parts you a re missing... Install them yourself? Actually, in this case the dealer is letting the car buyer deal with the factory. My stance remains that it is a dealer issue to correct, He made profit from this, he not the customer, should be on the phone to the corporation. True the dealer needs to deal with this, but keep in mind that we are more of an irritation to them than anything else. The margins on this stuff have to be much narrower than on consumer gear and dealing with a HT guy is not going to be high on their list of prioritys.

What would you think if you bought a new car and when you took it home found out that parts were missing, and the Dealer said here are the parts you a re missing... Install them yourself? I would see it more like it was a race car than a regular car from dealer. (It is a pro product after all) I would expect the team to have the knowledge to install the part. He can send the speakers back, but really the problem is impatience not a lack of technical expertise. I will say it again. Once the speakers are up and running all will be forgiven.
  14. I don't see the big deal. A few days (or even weeks) is a short time in the end. Maybe Klipsch should just stop selling pro stuff to hobbyists. Maybe more trouble than it is worth. One of my Pro speaks showed up with major damage. I refused the box called American Cinema and Kliipsh had an other one to my house in a week. It was not the end of the world, and I never thought about calling out the lynch mob.
  15. That makes sense. I didn't think about the fact that the MSRP on the LaScala II is $7000 a pair. Yeah, that's a HUGE increase over the current RF-7ii. Never thought of it that way. I wish someone would let me hear this "magic" cause I'm not hearing it. That I totally agree with. To my ears, that's what makes this speaker shine. Maybe we need to deal. K400s are really building up in my storage room. You might be surprised at how much of the mid range you like is actually coming from the bass horn. play the speakers with just the mid and tweet hooked up and report back.
  16. It costs licencing money that would be better spent elsewhere. There is stuff in every equipment category that will wipe the floor with lower end stuff that carries the THX badge, but the manufacturer chose not to pay THX. There is also pure garbage that bears the badge because a payment was made. The specs they demand are nothing special.
  17. Wake you need to build this now!! Wrong on so many levels. So much of the Lascala magic is in the bass horn. A subwoofer will give low bass which is admittedly missing. I think this idea does away with the best part of the speaker. What everyone wants to improve is the squawker horn and then the tweeters on Scalas.
  18. I have a Scout. Dynavector 10x5 cartridge. I am going to try a 20x2L next time.
  19. I have thought about trying a peach. I wonder why the blueberry did not include the feature. I would own one today if it did. Peach + Tercel makes the equivalent of BBX with HT Bypass! Wish they were still available.

  21. Huge difference for me. My Integra Pre/Pro sounds fine for movies but I can't stand it for 2channel music. My NelsonPass designed preamp with HT bypass sounds great for music. I would literally tear out the screen and all the surround BS if it affected my 2channel experience in any negative way. Thanks to HT bypass everyone is happy.
  22. Well, maybe your system doesn't work well with this kind of music? Mine was absolutely rocking. It is not a bad quality recording, reguardless of your dynamic range issues. These are rock songs mostly, with limited dynamic range. Much like seeing them live (I've seen them twice). Your experience is much different than mine, although the system I was using is designed to play this kind of music. Not true. ZZ Top is one of my favorite bands. I have seen them live at least 10 times starting with the Deguelo tour. The shows back in the day were some of the best sounding concerts I have ever witnessed with dynamics to die for. The last few times were still very enjoyable but they are a shadow of their former selves. ZZ Top songs are not limited dynamic range, the problem is the later releases are compressed, limited and completely brick walled during the mastering phase of production. My system is not the problem. I really can't see how a pair of Khorns with all the best modifications, Mcintosh amplification, and most importantly a room designed and built from the ground up to make the most of corner horns would not allow me to play rock music at its best. All ZZ sounds great on my system except for the last few efforts. I am a rocker and my system was designed to play rock. It will let you enjoy the best recordings at above concert level if you wish but, brickwalled mastering will make you leave with your fingers in your ears thinking you have just been ear raped. Sorry but I could not sit by while a CD with a DR of 3 was praised. I tried to give the album a chance but could not take it.
  23. Yep! Decent DR from the HD Tracks version! But what's up with the version of "Legs" they included?? It certainly wasn't what I heard on the album I bought 30 years ago. Yes the single version not the album version of legs was used. Bad deal but the song was so over played in the day I don't care if I ever hear it again in any version. A way bigger deal for me is the use of original mixes on the early stuff. I could not stand the reverb soaked triggered drums of the remixes that were on the only CDs released until the compressed mid 2000s remasters of Tres and Fandango came out. First album, RioGrand, and Tegas were vinyl only for me till the HDtracks came out. Sonics are off the charts. Best of the best and I don't say that about many. Grateful Dead, Van Halen, and the Yes releases are also the best available in digital form.
  24. http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/list?artist=zz+top&album= Dynamic Range 3. I can understand loving the music, but I can not listen to this recording (and I do own this and every other thing ZZ Top has ever put out on CD, vinyl, and Hires download.) On my system it sounds terrible at any volume. For any ZZ Top fan that cares I can say that the HD Tracks offerings from the debut through Eliminator are the best digital versions ever released and are a must have for any fan! Original mixes unavailable on CD for many of the albums and the goto version for any of them. Unfortunately Mescalero and any other recent release is a lost cause. A sad casualty of the LOUDNESS WAR.
  25. Mine are pretty flat in my room without any EQ. I cross them over at 40 though. I have measured and EQd them but the difference from direct is minimal. I really like the subs. They were an incredible bargain.
