  1. I know I probably shouldn't comment but wow. I thought the thread was interesting and it definitley turned out to be that way. Looks like others were smart enough to stay away. Amy should be around shortly. Isn't this hobby about learning from each others expereinces.
  2. I wish it would so I could have a chance to hear more equipment. I'm in the minority amoung my friends and family, with the exception of my Father in Law. I spend what ever money and time I have in audio, I'm 25 and have a house full of speakers, my wife is OK with it so far, she realizes that it's something I really care about. And as much as she thinks she doesn't care, she's always complaining about her dads system, as well as the local theatres when we go. Atleast she understands what things are suppose to sound like and when the differ much she notices and that all I really ask for is she understand/hear the difference.
  3. the ohm setting is nothing more than a safety feature. If you run 6 ohm speakers on the 8 ohm setting the receiver getts a little hotter and will go into protection mode. By placing it in 6 ohm it disables the safety feature so the receiver doesn't shut down.
  4. I have La Scala's and a Reference 7 HT setup in the same room, I have not heard the RF 83/64 combo but I can tell you there is a big difference between the Heritage sound and the reference sound. The heritage is a smoother more mellow sound, the Reference line is a little more edgy, faster and tighter IMO. I can't decide which I like more, I get best of both worlds, I love the 7's for HT setup and some music, but really enjoy the sound of the La Scala's with jazz, big band, blue grass, blues and some classic rock.
  5. i fit a pair of LS in our subaru outback with the seats down, no problem.
  6. I agree with Dennie, many older player don't recognize the CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW media types. If it recognizes DVD-R it most likely the medium causing the issue noted with the CD-R. If you can re-rip them to the DVD-R medium.
  7. I think you'll be blown away with what the reference line has to offer, seperates or not. I like the heritage line but I keep comming back to the Reference line, for HT I think the reference line is hard to beat. My only concern with emotiva is the high gain levels and reported "hiss" issue with sensitive speakers, I've read great things about them and would like to give them a try sometime. the onkyo 805 really is a remarkable AVR it sounds great with HT, 2 channel listening is another story, as wuzzer, myself, or youthman.
  8. I've moved my RF speakers all over the place and have never broken a grill pegs. The only way i've ever broken grill pegs on my RF 5's is the dogs got a little rambonxious and knocked one over. I however would really liked to have them been magnetic grills, it's nice if you do occassionally like to look at the woofers make music.
  9. I agree that the feet look odd and the 3/4 grill reminds me of the Martin Logan look.
  10. It's a cool movie, we watched it when it first came out.
  11. You should play some test tones to listen how low you can hear, I can't hear much below about 50 Hz, I can feel it but don't hear it much. At 26 -20 Hz does that little thing dance across the floor? I had a sunfire sub that was a great little sub but slid all over the hardwood floor.
  12. maybe the "cast aluminum baskets" (per amy) The RF 7 II are like 6 lbs but maintain the same dimensions.
  13. Couldn't agree more, the RF 5 got overlooked because of it's Bigger and Badder brother, the RF 5 is a great speaker I hope that they bring it back for people who where in my situation when I bought my speakers. I wanted the 7's but couldn't afford them so I bought the 5's and was really surprised after getting them setup properly.
  14. Actually it is the RF-63 which has been dropped. There still is a classic RF-5 available in the line-up, but I agree it would have been nice to see an RF-5 II. The RF-82 II replaced the RF-82. I understand where you're coming from, I was just thinking of the succession of the RF 7 series of speakers. It seems that everyone always looked at the RF 82 and the RF 5 as being equivalent speaker being they both had 2 8" driver. Seems like maybe klipsch caught on to this and used the cheaper design to generate some added profit (sheer speculation don't hate me) by using the RF 82 (II) as it's new design base. I did notice the the RF 5 "classic" is still available but given the opportunity to purchase the RF 5s or the new RF 82 II , I think most people will choose the new speaker with the same driver design. Let us know how those new speakers sound "TheEar" when you get your hands on them. Then maybe a quick comparison of the new 7's and those lovely Palladium bookshelves you have.
  15. The High Resolution pictures look great, take a closer lookk guys. Why the different binding post on the RC 64 II? When will the be available?
  16. Looks like the RF 82 II has replaced the RF 5s, should have dropped the RF 82 II and made the RF 5 II. The speakers look great, I still like the black dust caps better. I'm interested in the new tweeters and crossover. The RC 64 looks great, wonder how it will match up with the original RF 7's. Why are there no driver model numbers?
  17. Hold off and see what Aragons new line has to offer. They are suppose to announce a new product line at CEDIA in september, may be interesting to see their new offerings.
  18. haha, thank you TNR, the comments are great, especially t.he one about the computers fixing themselfs.
  19. Placing your La Scalas on the long wall about 12 ft apart, you sitting equidistant away would be great spacing. As for surrounds sides and rears, most will say the heritage line is the way to go. Heresy's are popular due to size.
  20. don't hesitate, get the RF 7's you'll be glad you did.
  21. Also an important reminder, most identify theft that occurs is because "you" have given your information to them. Always be skeptical of giving any information online.
  22. Are we young hippies if we listen to the old stuff.
  23. Welecome to the real world of sound. Real sounds are harsh, loud and uncomfortable at times, klipsh speakers give that to you in all their glory and pain. Think about common sounds in everyday situations, car tires screeching, motorcycles talking off, semi brakes squeaking and air pressure releasing. Think about your truck door slamming, your garbage truck going by. If you play music, go slam on some crash cymbals, ride that ride, play those high hats, play a ripping lead on the guitar. All these are things that your klipsch speakers will now let you hear and the fun part you get to listen to them louder than the occur on a regular basis. As Iron suggested give them sometime and listen to what the speaker really have to offer, listen for things in the background you may have missed in the past. In movies, listen for clothes rustling in the wind, or leave scrapping the pavement as the whistle by, listen to the rain and listen to the conversations that are happening, that are not in the focus. Then make a decision.
