  1. also to add.... Ithought the movie was good, better than the first IMO, more action the only issue I had was it was longer than it needed to be, probably 25 or 30 mins too long.
  2. got home from work late today and was going to post something about the new Transformers movie..... If you want to give your sub a work out this is a must. I didn't hear any audible distorition and I listen louder than most, and this movie was one I watched louder than most. So needless to say I was listening loud. I run all my speakers as full range at 200w x 5 ch and didn't notice anything. It could have been a factor of things. maybe it was intended that way, you amp couldn't supple the power, your speakers were incapable, you had line sag during a heavy passage. Like others said, if youcould post a scene we could test it.
  3. I figured that the Klipsch stuff even though is quite good is quite a bit more in the cash department. So I figure why trade or sell my PB 13 + some cash for the THX 2 Ultras when I'd be better off to just purchase another pb 13 ultra later, which is what i plan on doing.
  4. This is normal and has been discussed here in the past. The first runs/older RF 5's came with the sticker that said 250 watts max continous they later changed it to 150 watts max continous. In either case you'd be fine. My RF 5's run as surround duty, and the make my place pound when in 5 ch stereo. congrats, the RF 5's are a great speaker.
  5. are you refering to the horn itself or the driver? The midrange horn in the KLF's are a 90 x 60 tractrix while the chorus II and forte II are 90 x 40 tractrix. The drivers themselfs are of the same size physically all being 1.5 in. But are NOT the identical drivers. The forte II and chorus II are identical as far as the horn and driver go and the KLF 20's and 30's are the same respectively. Although the Chorus II and Forte II share these drivers the x'over is different, this hold true with the KLF's as well.
  6. yeah let me know where you can pick up the klf 20's for 400 bucks.... I'd hop on those petty quick if they're not already taken. I've also read that both series of speakers have many cabinet issues so make sure to inspect them well.
  7. I think many of us that hang around here are satisfied with our experiences, that's why we are still here. Being this is your first post and probably your last post, I'd like to say welecome and good bye. taking the leap into a new technology comes with it's own woes. Early adopters often get screwed, Look at HD DVD, Laser Disc, 8 track, many people spent money but apparently not enough people to continue to fund the project. You were lucky enough to be one of those early adopters. Hang out here a bit and see if some come up in the garage sale section.
  8. I actualy built a small shelve to mount my RC 7's above my DLP, It costed like 20 bucks maybe. The only issue i've really found is that angling the RC7 too much causes alot of strain on where the face of the speaker meets with the cabinet it's self, I've got rubber feet on the RC 7 but they still tend to slide back with the weight of the RC 7. I posted a picture a while back of my setup so you might see what I did...... Gonna look for it.....
  9. I would also question the Frequency response of the CD player in the chain. It may not reproduce frequencies above 15 kHz. May be something to look at. was the CD player bitstreaming or doing the decoding internally? This may also be the issue as the DAC's in the CDP (if decoding internally) are incapable. Another issue that it maybe is that YOU simply can't hear those frequencies, you should play the recording for your wife or girlfriend as women can typically hear higher frequencies that men can not.
  10. I'll weigh in, I've got a Stage One and it work fine with Blu Ray, you'll have to locate a DB25 to 6x (8x) RCA, and a BR player that has analog outs. I went from a HDMI capable player Onkyo 805 to the Stage One, I was initially concerned about the lack of audio over HDMI but my concerns were alleviated when I aquired the DB 25 cable and a BR player with Analog outs (oppo BDP-83). I run hdmi directly to the TV for 1080p and run the db25 cable (for BR) and digital coax (for dvd) from the oppo to the stage one. For those interested, Blu Ray can definitely work with the stage one, the lack of HDMI cable is no real issue, and what little issue it may be, the stage one will make up for in sound quality. The Stage One is an awesome pre/pro, simple and sounds great.
  11. I was wondering what some of you thought about the klipsch THX Ultra 2 setup vs a single SVS Pb13 U. I'm sure the PB13 has the edge in low frequency extension but how do they compare overall? Better or equal SQ? How do the KW-120's do with music? I have a PB13 U so i know how it performs, should I be satisfied or would the THX setup be an upgrade? I listen probably 50 /50 music HT with a possible slight edge towards music.
  12. IMO you;ll be pleased with the performance of the RF 82. and the RC 62 will match it well.
  13. Right now and usually I run everything hot at 80 dB. My sub is flat at 80dB with everything else with the exception of 2 channel listening which the sub is running hot 3 dB to keep up with the HF section of the RF 7's. I run everything pretty flat because we watch most of our movies at or near reference level, if I ran the PB13U hot I might risk damaging the foundation of my house.
  14. We always watch our money pretty well and have in many ways been trying to take advantage of the downturn. I look everyday for good deals and when I come across them I try to take it. Withing the last 7- 9 months I have gotten a Mint Aragon Stage One and an Aragon 2005 amp for 500 bucks (boxes and all). I bought a Pair of RS 7's and an RC 7 in excellent condition for 600 bucks (with boxes) another pair of RF 5's for 200 bucks. A Pair of RF 7's for 700 bucks. 2 APC units for 99 bucks. We recently bought my wife a new car last november and I recently bought a motorcycle. This is all after being furloughed from the rail road. I figure if I fold head over A* Hole at least it will happenn during these times and people will look back and say well it was tough and so did 800 million other people. I'm still young and maybe stupid but I've got 1 life. And if I don't do it now I may never do it or maybe never have a chance again to do it.
  15. I would also check the levels for the TV input aswell as thePS3 inputs to assure all speakers levels are equal. One thing I do notice between my TV broadcast and DVD/Blu ray playback is that the levels are not equal, by this I mean that on Broadcast the reference level from one show to the next will be different. The "DialNorm" (Dialogue Normal) is changed even when movie is broadcasted in Dolby Digital 5.1 this change in SPL could cause you to think that the broadcast sounds better. My broadcast of DD 5.1 seems to be more heavy in the bass arena, I think this is due to the HF compression of the HD DVR box, movie sound good on TV but no where near what a DVD or BD is.
  16. there are a few that would be in my top 10 but IMO not the top 10 of all time. I didn't read an article so I don't know what/if any criteria was involved. Was the category Rock/Blues guitarist? IMO there are/should be different categories of best guitarists, there are the creative with their music than their are the technical guitarist. Steve Vai Joe Satriani Andres Segovia Jimmi Page Frank Zappa Robert Johnson Yngwie Malmsteem What are we going for, that is not my order but just some more names that should definitely be there some where. In my book, Hendrix would not be in my top 10, that's just me, he did some good things but always seemed so sloppy. We'll all have our opinions based on the music we listen to so music style would have to be considered aswell as the technicallity of ones playing ability or lack there of.
  17. I've never heard the JL subs so I can't comment on their function, I do however own a PB 13 Ultra and a pair of them IMO would be considerably hard to match in the performance per dollar from any commercial sub. I'm hoping when we move (more space) to purchase another SVS PB 13 Ultra. The first movie I put on was quite scary to say the least, I turned the gain to less than 1/3rd and watched a movie (at reference level of course) and was worried my ceiling might come down on top of us. Then dialed it in, and listen to music is a pleasure.
  18. you just can't catch a break can you Joe. I myself had not heard of "Zu's" I'm not interested in buying them but I'm always interested in everything audio so I think it's great to discuss other brands. As the other poster said, this is a great place to ask about since we are all familiar with a certain brand of speaker (Klipsch) which has a particular sound that appeals to us. So sharing that "Reference" we can make better suggestions to one another than say a Paradigm, or KEF fan would.
  19. it would be good to list what you have to make a reasonable reccomendation. We know you have in-walls but what model?
  20. I've been looking at snatching a pair of Forte II's up as they're relatively local and IMO stupidily cheap (100 bucks), but both need active radiators, one is missing a passive radiator so I've been hesitant abot buying them as they would require alot of work.
  21. when I said I wear nothing but jeans and red wings I didn't mean in the *** less chaps sense. I meant that I don't wear shorts or shoes. I'll be looking at some leathers. I've started working in the parking lot at the school with turning and braking. I'll probably do that for a couple of days, before I go in traffic. Either this weekend (if I can get in) or next weekend I plan on taking the MSF course. I don't have issues with starting and stopping my biggest issue/anxiety is turning. The difference IMO between a bigger bike and a dirt bike is significant. I'm not sure if the smaller parking lot attributes to me being uneasy with turning at slow speed but none the less I plan on getting comfortable there than I do on the street. Thanks for the continued advice. This forum is good for things other than al things klipsch,
  22. I bought my RF 7's recently for 750 in great condition 9/10. I purchased a 9/10 RC 7 for 200 bucks and a pair of 9/10 RS 7 (with one grill missing) for 400. I still have the RS 7's for sale if interested. price would be 400 plus shipping to a forum member that's been around a while.
