  2. Kick *** Movie! Had some great action, and AWESOME sound. I thought the stairway scene was one of the coolest in the movie. The part where he first goes back to his apartment really made me Jump!!!

    Road to Perdition

It was a great movie and definitely worth buying the DVD. Get the dts version, it is the first full-spec dts release in a long time.
  4. According to Mitsubishi, the DD-6030 will play 2 channel DVD-A through it's analog outputs, and take advantage of the advanced resolution stereo. The 8030 is Multi-Channel DVD audio. You are listening to the Dolby or dts track on the disc. DVD audio is great, but like any format, some titles are better than others. REM Document is one of those that is only so-so. Pick up some of the titles above, as well as my personal favorite Eagles Hotel California and hear the difference, that disc will give you goose-bumps guaranteed. p.s. What is a "PowerDVD player?" Sounds like some kind of Computer thing.
  5. Neo 6 does not make it 6.1, it has nothing to do with that.
  6. I agree that there must be something wrong with them, as I have never heard anyone else complain. Is it both speakers or just one? I would try exchanging before you just write off the RF-5's altogether.

---------------- You know it's sad when you grow up listening to Van Halen for the last 20 some odd years only to find this late in the game that you have been singing the lyrics wrong the whole time to Van Halen's Running With The Devil... ---------------- You mean it's not "Here's some livin' and a freeze back heel???"

Also, doesn't say it's 6.1 on the box, but has awesome Rear Center information!!
  9. That's what I was going to say...go buy it. Blockbuster sucks. And Bourne Identity was not a dumb movie it was kick-***!
  10. Yep, that can be a problem with DVD-A. I get plenty of bass with the Metallica disc though.
  11. ---------------- Well, she hasn't spoken to me since. Was she Hot?
  12. I believe with Yamaha, you should set the sub to LFE+Main and you will get better bass, other Yamaha owners could probably clarify if this is correct.
  13. Normally, I would recommend the Samsung any day of the week, you might have access to HD sooner than you think. If money is tight, though, go with the Panny. For regular TV, I think it looks better than the Sammy, and I agree that, other than going all the way and getting the widescreen, DVD's aren't going to look all that much better on the HD set. The upconversion from 480i to 480p is just a fancy way of saying it has a line doubler built in, which all digital TV's do. Doesn't necessarily mean a better picture, and in some cases it looks worse!! That's one of the features I like about my Panasonic TV is that you can turn the line doubler off!
  14. You don't mention what kind of receiver you are using and how it is set up. You should be able to get plenty of bass even if you use the stereo mode. Prologic I was never that great for music, which is the main reason they invented PLII. I personally always listen in Stereo if it's recorded in stereo.
  15. If you're used to having two subs, you'll never be happy with one again. I have two RSW-15's up front and love it!!! The RSW-12's are awesome subs too, though!
  16. I agree. I wouldn't use RS-3's. Either RB-5's or even RB-3's would be the best.

I bought the camcorder on the way home from the dealer using my cell phone and had the camcorder in my hands by 10am the next day. ---------------- Hold on a second, A camcorder is a little different than Audio equipment. Give the dealer your offer and see what he says. If you already know what you want, and the dealer doesn't have to spend an hour demoing the receiver, and the price still allows him to make a profit, he should take the deal. If not, he is being foolish. At the same time, it would be unfair to not let him know upfront that you are bargain shopping, you need to figure out if you are in the right ballpark, pricewise, before you ask the dealer to spend a lot of time explaining features, demoing, etc. In other words don't expect "B&M" service for Internet prices. As far as the first two stores you called not having a Popular receiver like the 3803 on display and hooked up, that is ridiculous. Offer them $849, take it or leave it, as they aren't offering ANY service above and beyond a website dealer. It's not like this is a rare item, and it's certainly not an unpopular product.

  19. Both arrows should go in the same direction (toward the sub) for filtering.

    Home Theater

There are a ton of ways to match up with the RC-3. You could use floor standing (RF-3 or RF-5) or bookshelf (RB-5 or RB-3) for the rears you could use RS-3's or you could go smaller and still stick with the WDST set-up (SS-1 or .5) the RS-3's would definitely be a better match, though. If you want in-walls, the RCW-5's or 3's would work great, and they are great sounding speakers. You could also go in the ceiling with the RCR-5's or 3's. Any of these options are matched to the Reference series and would sound great.
  21. You can do what you are looking to do with the Pioneer VSX-49tx.

Why do you call your system a HO?
  23. Copy and paste this: http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_8_2/dvd-benchmark-special-report-chroma-bug-4-2001.html Sorry, I can't figure out how to do links on this bb, without hand typing everything. This will give you all the info you need to know and then some. You might be sorry you asked. Personally, I think people have made a bigger deal out of it than it is, but you can be the judge of that.
  24. Don't worry about overpowering the speakers with Denons "170 Watts". The MCACC is a very cool feature with the Pioneer. The Denon gives you the option to run 5.1/Multi-zone or 7.1, which the Pioneer doesn't. Pioneer gives you the option to Bi-Amp your front speakers if you are not running 7.1. I know the Pioneer gives you some cool options for multi-channel music if you are running 7.1, and I don't think the Denon does (for instance, you can run the surround back as your only rear speakers, in case you have bi-polar surrounds and direct radiating surround back, or you can have the Pioneer Matrix a surround back channel, which is pretty cool seeing as you are using Analog inputs). The Denon has a more flexible Crossover than the Pioneer. But I have always said Pioneer sounds better than Denon. That being said, I am going to upgrade from my Pioneer 45tx to the Denon 4802 in the next couple of weeks.
  25. The grilles are also a little different on the II's. $500 is not a horrible price but $400 would definitely be better.
