  1. I have nothing to do with this ad but found it unique and refreshing. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/ele/2765864181.html
  2. 1975. Took me thirty years to get my own. Now three sets, Belles, Cornwalls, and Forte II.Wasted alot of time.
  3. My first Klipsch speakers were Forte II's. I have since bought Cornwalls and Belles. The Belles are in my main room for listening. They are not LaScalas but close. In the end they are your ears however. Hope that helps. By the way, I still have all three pairs. I always managed to find a place in the home for them.
  4. The search continues. Enjoyed going through this tonight past, present, and hopefully future. Thx.
  5. My wifes birthday today/tonight. Took her to dinner and came home after a bottle of wine before and nursing one after. One of the few times unfortunately I have sat and played music with her. Finished the night off with Gran Torino starting out with Clint Eastwood and finished off by Jamie Cullum and Gregg Allman Tour, Queen of Hearts. Sounds sweet on the Belles. Yeah you can actually dance to it.
  6. At college years back in Fulton Missouri. A friend brought home Hersey's. I had never seen nor heard of them before.Thought I had never heard anything like them till they disappeared a week later and were replaced by Cornwalls. Still recall the first album he played, Supertramp, Crime of the Century. Have the album and the speakers today along with a set of Forte II's. Haven't heard or owned anything bigger in the Klipsch family than those yet but I am working on it.
  7. in the car, on the roof, drive slow.........................
  8. This isn't going to help much: I have Cornwall I's with new Crites crossovers and CT-125"s. I have Forte II's, not I's with new crossovers and Titanium Diaphragms. I have them in two different rooms hooked up to different equipment. I have moved said equipment up and downstairs and hooked everything up to the others amp's and other equipment and................................................................................................................................................................could swear on one day I prefer one and another the other. Sad, I know. Thats why I have both.
  9. Saw Jerry Jeff in Austin years and years ago. Wouldn't mind hearing the story behind that picture sometime. Very cool Josh!
  10. KC and the Sunshine Band and Disco in general. Yeah, I grew up in the seventies and while there was a lot of good music we veered off course there. Come to think of it that was a really odd time with cars also, AMC Pacer's, Ford Pinto's, Chevy Vega's with half a real engine, rubber bumper MG's and Triumphs. I could go on. Heard Tiny Tim for the first time in years and damn...........................................like I said, out to lunch for a while. Old Country, Hank Williams, George Jones, etc., although these days Waylon Jennings, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Willis Allan Ramsey would be considered old country vs. the current pop country. By the way Ramseys album was good stuff particularly "Spider John". Jerry Jeff, just off the wall enough you had to like him particularly if you were drunk cause if you were seeing him he generally was. If you were drunk and puked the music wasn't necessarily the reason. Par for the course. Alot of Classic Rock. It's been played and played and played and played. Even though I grew up with it there can be brief periods of burp and blow brought on by Irritated Bowel Syndrome. My wife hates Gordon Lightfoot. Took her to a concert of his anyway at Ravinia in Chicago years back and inside of his first song she rolled over and vomited after finishing her Kentucky Fried dinner. I kid you not. Had to take her home and missed the concert. Probably caused by more than the music but it was all the same to her. All those folks on the grass with candles, wine, food and a woman hoarking on the side moaning I told you not to bring me here.
  11. Cant tell exactly what you have there with the Pioneer Elite Receiver. I picked up a Pioneer Elite VSX-54TX for a good deal more than that a number of years back and use it for movies and music downstairs. Nice pickup for $165. Depending on the model it probably sold for between $1000-1500 suggested new.
  12. I bought the entire crossover kit from Bob Crites for the Forte II's and just the caps for the Cornwall I's. You might want to do that with the Forte II's as they are a little beefier for lack of a better term. The Forte's have had the tweeter upgrade and the Cornwalls Bob Crites new tweeters. I run a Sony STR-V7 from the 70's with the Fortes, 150 wpc though you obviously don't need that. Sounds very warm with the Forte's, haven't tried it with the Cornwalls yet. The Cornwalls do sound better to me at lower volume and are presently run by a Pioneer VSX-54TX. The Forte II's are wider apart and put me directly in the sweet spot. If I close the door and turn them up a tad with some Jackson Browne, happy. The Cornwalls are hampered by a smaller room and fairly close together. I am dying to spread them out but have seen plenty of pictures of the same distance so..................... That in itself can spark all sorts of commentary but I can sense more change in the music, between CD quality, MP3's, Vinyl with the Cornwalls. I have had the Cornwalls and Forte's together downstairs and they sound wonderful but I like listening to them both two channel so back to seperate quarters............................. for now. At the moment, tough choice. Long winded way of saying I like them both.
  13. I have Forte II's and Cornwalls in seperate rooms. Have heard the Heresy's but never owned. I was about to say bigger is better but there are days when I love sitting with the Forte II's vs. the Cornwalls. Then again that depends on what music I am playing, the amplifier, the room, etc., etc, etc.. I will own La Scalas and Khorns at some point but chances are I will keep them all. Answer, like others have said, buy them both.
  14. Not a big Dolly Parton fan. Glad you get to see them.
  15. Bring her north to "the green" this summer for Tommy Castro and Charlie Musselwhite. Best part is it's free!
  16. Don't know about absolute favorites but ones that I can keep going back to without getting tired: Spider John Willis Allan Ramsey Love Reign O'er Me The Who Like a Rolling Stone Bob Dylan Melissa The Allman Brothers The Night they Drove Old Dixie Down from The Last Waltz The Band
  17. I was bouncing between Supertramp Crime of the Century and Bennett. If you like Krall, Buble, and Jones try taking some Sinatra, Fly me to the Moon or, Bennett, I wanna be around, out for a stroll. Those speakers love that stuff.
  18. You will revisit all your music as I did because you just hear so much more. I couldn't even make it through full songs I was in such a rush to hear something else that popped into my head. My wife was thrilled............................................... I told her I have ADD. (I probably do but she wasn't buying it). I have been matching amp's to my Forte II's and Cornwalls ever since. I share your enthusiasm. Only wish I had done it earlier. Congrats.
  19. Check out "See the world", Album, How We Operate
  20. I have both speakers currently. The Cornwalls live downstairs for 2 channel and movies with other speakers. I had the Forte II's with them at one time and loved listening to music but moved them to my office upstairs. At some point I will match the Cornwalls up with another Klipsch product downstairs. Everytime I start to say I hear things in the Forte's like an alleged deeper richness in the music I play with the Cornwalls and disagree. That comment alone speaks to the way I feel about both but the Cornwalls have stayed downstairs where the bulk of my listening is. Not disappointed with either. The Cornwalls are matched up with a Pioneer Elite and the Forte's with a Harman Kardon. Have been meaning to swap that around for grins but getting the Forte's upstairs was enough for the moment. I bought the Forte II's for $500 in great shape a couple of years ago off Craigslist. Tweeked them with the help of Mr. Crites for new Crossovers and Titanium diaphraghms. Strangely enough purchased the Cornwall I's for $400, refinished them and at that time added new caps rather than the whole board. I have CT-125 Tweeters from Bob waiting under my tree for tomorrow. I am genuinely happy with both but...................................have been eyeballing La Scala's for awhile................................which will lead to....................anyway you get the picture. I have genuinely wavered back and forth in my preference but again, the Cornwalls are still downstairs.
  21. Kids are still asleep out here but back at you and others..........................................quietly. Happy Holidays!!
  22. Thanks for the site. Saw Hall and Oates in September at Rodney Strong Vineyards in Sonoma County. They wrapped up their summer season concerts. Great show, three encores if I remember correctly. Great place to see a concert, outside and limited tickets, small venue.
  23. and...............................the guy in the avatar is no help.
