  1. All that speaker for 500$? Thats amazing. If you lived in south FL i would have picked them up, played with them a little and resold them;) No space for them:( GLWS Alex
  2. Me and my khorns are anxiously waiting for my 500c to get back from being fully restored Very nice looking 500C. GLWS. Alex
  3. I tried doing some research and i am not sure if they sell the kit any more. I know this did before and there are plenty of builds you can find on line. http://www.avsforum.com/t/1189404/danley-dts-10-super-spud-diy-kit
  4. The dts-10 goes for sale every now then used. If the deal doesnt work out with Danley i would use the rsw 15 for now and wait for a nice horn sub to go on sale and jump on it. Deals on horn subs come around every now and then. That is what i did and it worked out for me, i think i got pretty lucky with my thtlp. If not i say you build one. It would be a great experience with a worth while out come. I will keep my eyes peeled for you and good luck;) A few months ago i was at a concert with one of these bad boys which i was standing right besides. (Sub from vid on page 1) http://www.danleysoundlabs.com/products/subwoofers/bc-horns/bc-415/ Most beautiful, clean, chest punching, loud bass i have ever heard. I was standing about 4 feet from the exit. It was amazing. lol. I am a bass horn addict. I thought about the dts10 that was for sale in Tampa but he was asking 2000 and wasnt budging enough for me;( Alex
  5. +1. A Cinema F-20 would work as well. Raising the La Scalas might actually sound better as well since it gets the tweeters up to ear level. x2 I raised my la scalas and it was a improvement. You are probably going to have to play with this and see what sounds better.
  6. Wake you need to build this now!! Wrong on so many levels. So much of the Lascala magic is in the bass horn. My thought exactly.
  7. You could go with your original plan and place a dts 10 or maybe a thtLP (firing downwards) between the la scalas. Are you planning on building the SUB or buying it built? Someone was selling a dts20 on craigslist in tampe area not to long ago. Alex
  8. My best friend just got some Forte II and they sound amazing amazing. If i had the choose a speaker besides the khorns i have now and my old la scalas i think the fortes come in third. For their size, price, and sound they are a VERY tough speaker to beat. I have heard all the heritage line speakers, FYI. A Jubilee is my dream speaker. Alex
  9. Nice speakers and great prices. GLWS Alex
  10. I remember when i had my la scalas the mid range and clarity of the high notes was amazing, BUT, what i loved most about the la scala was the horn bass. I was in love with the way the bass just SOUNDED, although maybe not that low in actual hz. I had a paradigm servo 15" sub hooked up with la scala at one point, which is a 15" sealed sub, and it sounded ok. I went on to a tht by bill fitzmaurice and it was a huge huge improvement. I dare to say now the sealed 15 sounded terrible, just not right with the la scala. I know the rsw 15" is a more capable sub but still a sealed 15" with a PR. Get your self a nice horn sub and you will be in a different world. Setup looks amazing FYI and really enjoy reading this thread. Alex
  11. I meant to put this in Alerts. Sorry about that guys.

  13. Well my friend called the craiglist add guy and returned the speakers and got his money back. I called crites and replacement woofers were 225 shipped and we wernt sure 100% if that was the problem so it really wasnt worth it. Thanks for all the help guys, Alex
  14. TTT Now 600 Awesome price. Spoke to the seller and they are from 86 and as far as he knows 100% original. He is the second owner. http://keys.craigslist.org/msg/4393958497.html
  15. The crest is actually the most powerfull of all the amps at 350 watts @ 8 ohms. The woofer was moving ALOT and sounded great. I did some research i found some info more or less along the lines of the speakers resistance being to high and the amp not being able to handle and clipping. My guess is the crest able to handle this resistance being a pro amp and all and the other amps not? Could this be what is happening and why would the speakers do this? Thank for any and all help. Alex
  16. My friend recently purchased a pair of forte II on craigslist. The man he purchased from said they were in a closet and unused for 10 years. The speakers look great. Almost brand new, no tears in woofers anything like that. When i push on the woofer in the front the PR in the back also moves back simultaneously, no air leak noticed. My friend brought over the speakers when volume was put at about half way or more on the receiver a weird popping/crackling sound was heard coming from the mid range on both speakers. We thought the mid ranges or woofers could have been blown. They were powered a marantz 2252b. We then switched to a pair of marantz ma700 monoblocks, same noise, then switched to a yamaha receiver same noise. We then switched to a crest ca6 pro amp and the noise was gone. We were able to blast the speaker with the crest and the speakers sounded great. The speakers were not being pushed hard at all when they made this poppping/crackling noise. When you hold down the woofer when the speakers are making this noise the noise seems to be reduced, so i am guessing it has to do with the woofers. And the noise came from BOTH speakers. Any idea what this noise can be? Thanks for help, Alex
  17. I am 29 and have had 2.1 since my early 20's and i couldnt be happier. I have a pair of khorns running off a Fisher 500C with a thtLP horn sub. I feel like the $ i would have spent on a 5.1 or 7.1 is better spent on a 2.1 and able to spend more on better quality 2 speakers. I listen to 80% music. I have 2 friends my age who recently purchased a home and were after a 5.1 system and i convinced them to get 2 channel, one friend is runnig a pair of la scalas and the other a pair of forte's. Both of my friends are very happy. I meet alot of people and many comment on how someone of my age, being so young, prefers 2 channel over 5 channel. This is what works for me. Alex
