Foot note to your post- I too have rolled through 8 pieces of Mac stuff. I am down to one ss power amp - 2105 which I intend to keep forever. true you can have your fun with mac stuff then get your money back or even make money in some cases. If you buy a new 275 you will take a big hit when you sell it. I havwe seen nice as new examples in the 3000- 3500 range or even lower on occasion.One of these could easily be bought- enjoyed- and resold an no loss. VRDs take about a 1000.00 hit on the used market for some stupid reason. But they are very very difficult to find and are sold immediately upon listing. I ran a WTB ad to find mine. Got exactly one hit which resulted in the sale. Happy hunting.

I was ready to write the check for a new 275. After an extended tire kicking session of stepping back and really doing a detailed analysis- I avoided IMHO a big mistake by not buying the 275. Then I listened to an un modded 275 beside a set of VRD monoblocs belonging to a friend. The VRDS destroyed the 275 IMHO. The same 275 now sounds a good bit better and has narrowed the gap after 800.00 worth of tube upgrades. But still not as good IMHO- That being said- the VRDs were purchased for under 2k - The 275 new plus upgrades is well north of 5K. I embarked on a 8 month search for a used pair of VRS for around 2 k and finally found them here on the forum, These amps - particulary at the 2k or even the aprox 3200.00 price of a new pair are true giant killers in every sense of the word . I have listened to carys- old macs- mew macs-vintage tubes of many brand names and some high end SS stuff. I have heard nothing that will touch them. Sure- they maybe something out there that will better the VRDs but I personally have not heard it. Like another poster said- the macs are a quick fix no problem solution as a decent tube amp that will thrill 90% of the purchasers who are not freaks like the people on this forum. But- are they anywhere close to the VRD monoblocs-particulary in stock form?? Not even in the same ballpark. I think that there is a klipsch forum member discount on the VRDs. Call Craig to confirm. Highly individual subjective topic- just my 2cts worth.

My dad had a big fight with them concerning a lap"home warranty" just like what Dennie described. I did buy my dell laptop frpm them but it is a cheapie thrrowaway. have looked at sutff there and bought it much cheaper online such as my Sony Blu-ray. I recently had to replace my freezer and HH Gregg murdered them. 250.00 cheaper. I now buy my CDs from amazon or e-bay. The other night a friend was looking at a preamp and a CD player. I was trying to help him evaluate the price and the equip. We needed some interconnects fast. BB was completely in the Stratosphere with the prices for interconnects and the selection totally sucked. We bought the same thing af lowes for a fraction of the cost. Same deal with HDMI cables. I bought professional grade HDMI stuff at Audiohilics for near the same as BB garbage. I bought an LG gas dryer from them. Had a small issue. They sent this idiot out who had absoulutely no clue about LG gas dryers.The dryer would runj but make no heat. he insistet that the dryer sheets I was using were causing sensor problems. He said if I would run it a few times it would"fix itself???" He insisted that it was making heat- It was not. The repair company would not return numerous phone calls to the service subcontractor afterward. I finally went online and diagnosed the problem myself-Heavy rains has flooed one end of the crawl space and had allowed water to enter and colaspe the exahust line which was shutting down the heating element. This is the first thing they should have checked. Bottom line- the warranty service sucks- you are on your own after the stuff leave the store I tried to buy 1 plasma and 2 LCD TVs from them. They were clueless concerning the product- the info given was completely wrong- others beat their prices on the same stuff. Everybody has. slightly different model numbers on the same TVs - they change all the time which gives them an out on price matching Window shop at BB- then go buy it somewhere else.

Recently a white van scammer was confronted by an angry former customer at a shopping center outside Charlotte. The scamer was dumb enough to go back to a previous location where he had ripped off several not so happy customers. There was a brief car chase that ended in a crash.Dont know the details. I would bet the angry customer will be the one who gets into trouble.

Blame our catch and release Criminal justice system. Expect much more of the same Go armed. Kill the *&**&^s On second thought- I bet these poor misguided individuals had a rough childhood being denied the opportunities available to the rest of us. We should try to save and rebabilitate these poor souls. i will go for option 1

Find one of the Cambridge CD closeouts/ discontinued models for around 325 that were 750 a few months back. Save your money- throwing 50 bucks down the tubes- at very least buy a newer DVD/ cd player- will sound better. Or better still- hang out on audiogon- buy a used Jolida for about 550-600 and be done with it.

Dont know for sure- I run Nordost blue heavens. Some people offer burn ins for like 30 bucks. I just hook up mine and go with it. Does definitely makes a difference on components.

I think the cats are beautiful as well- in the wild. Away from people. The G&F position of denying the existance is curious and dangerous. Better idea- Admit that they are there. A wonderful day of burning up a bunch of 45 and 40 ammo at the rifle and pistol club. I shot average but beat the rest- a contest of who had the worst reading glasses eyes. I could feel some remnants of my old competitive shooting days coming back. Held in my hands the 20 ga Boss shotgun owned by Stanley of Morgan Stanley- a piece of history - built in 1919- still in exscellent cond- value 100k plus. what a piece of art- fully engraved. Finished up the day with a fine cuban cigar at the smoke shop followed by a few beers with friends- nice grilling some 2" thick pork chops marinated with olive oil and some fresh bread and cheese. JL- Agree to a point- Gerhardt was such a joy to watch- he got some votes in spite of the 5 losses-i was pulling for him- I think he will be a great asset to the Vikes Clausen seemed so tenative in his interview with Gruden- He needs to step up and take charge- I think that is why he fell to 48- In any case the Panthers had to take him at that point- IOf he went elsewhere and exceled- we would not never live it down. Armini Edwards is the talk of the town right now- Big time local hero with App state record. Niners kicked butt in the draft. Should be a much improved team. panthers are a big question mark. Our QB Matt More was on fire after it did not matter- thanks jake D-we were the team that nobody wanted to play late in 2009. Many post season player losses.
