  1. Just thought I would post this for anyone else that might have the same problem. One of my RS 7's had the vinyl peeling and I had tried to glue it and use a heat gun to get it back around the edges properly and I just wasn't happy with any of the attempts I make. Last night I decided to rip the bottom vinyl off and paint it using semi gloss black and I brushed it on and then back rolled it with a 1/2" nap roller and it came out looking just like my other one that is perfect. The pic isn't great but trust me this worked great. Side by side they looked the same, even Denise walked by and asked me which one I fixed. Hope it helps someone.
  2. You can either be patient and wait unitl one comes around or you can forget about the exact match issue and go with the best center you can find for the amount of money you're willing to spend. The center is so important in the audio track that I would go with the better center. The only other option I can think of would be to go with C4 [] Good Luck
  3. or 2 [] Onkyo's have always run hot and the 805 can heat up a room if left on all the time, but I've never had a problem because of it on any of them that I've had.
  4. Didn't even see that on the DVD, but Don, unless there's more equipment in the group, like a cable or sat receiver that needs a video signal processed, there's no reason to have multiple video connections from the DVD to the TV and you still need a pair of audio cables from the DVD to the TV if you want to be able to watch a movie without having the entire system on assuming the TV has internal speakers of its own.
  5. Hi Don, Where is that cable laying on the receiver coming from? I'm assuming your TV and if that's the case it looks like it might be a DVI connector and I don't see a DVI plug on the back of the DVD or Receiver. If that's coming from the TV please post a pic of the back of it so I can see what you've got. I'm also assuming that you have the component cables coming out of the DVD and into the HT Receiver and then out of the receiver and into the TV and then you wouldn't need a DVI connector. Please just post the pic and we'll get it figured out. I have an older projection TV with a DVI and I have a cord to convert from HDMI to DVI.
  6. I've always tried to tell people that if they like it then it's great, not that I've lied when I've heard some stuff that sounded really bad and the person was trying to tell me that I was listening to something wonderful, but you get the point. I have on the other hand seen people, even on this forum, bash other peoples gear or methods and all I can say is get over yourself and your "golden ear" opinion and let people enjoy their version of the best. At this time my best are my RF 7's, but that's because they just came out of the basement after a year and a half and are back upstairs where I've been putting them through the paces and playing with gear selection and I get to experience them all over again.
  7. I still have them and many more since first posting this thread. Brings back memories as I was diving back into audio, back when I had a lot more money and a lot less equipment. I have since driven the 7's with a number of different amps, none of them tubes to date but really like running a QSC DCA1622 with the 7's. I still like a little Jamison on occasions too.[]
  8. I'm shocked that nothing has happened and actually thought that the bail was set so low in order to allow the opportunity.
  9. Good thing it wasn't a painting of grass and water or it would have brought double that. Time to get the camera out and take some boring pictures; who knows, maybe they have realatives with too much money and no taste.
  10. I believe it's even more of a crime when due to the status, perception or position of an individual that turns a blind eye to a situation such as this. Take the same seriously disturbed acts and any random names from friends, enemies, hero's, family and move the puzzle pieces around and please tell me how it will ever make it any less or more of an act and that's what this is doing in some peoples minds. Joe Paterno "WAS" a hero in my eyes and it had little to do with football and more to do with the fact that I truely believed that he had a moral standard ( IN SPITE OF BEING A FOOTBALL COACH ) that was higher than the vast majority of individuals that walked on the planet. This is not a balancing scale that if you pile up enough good things over here that there is nothing that you could ever do to tip the scale in the other direction. There is a major difference between not telling the cashier and then the police that the person in front of you stole a pack of gum and not telling them that the person in front of you killed her mother.
  11. We won't have a clue about that until Paterno is allowed to speak. I hope and believe that when that event comes, Joe will be Joe and tell it like it is. There's a long dark road still ahead.
  12. This whole situation just makes me sick. I grew up in Pa., I've attended hundreds of Penn State games, gone to banquets and listened to Joe, and the other coaches speak, (including Sandusky) and was always so proud of JoePa's morality. All of this is so disturbing that I, being a long time die hard fan and supporter, sit here and want to see anyone that knew about any of this get fired, locked up, beaten, I'm not sure I can properly convey exactly how I feel, but I think you understand. First and foremost, the individuals and family's that have been and will continue to be affected by these Hannis actions mean much more that a darn football game, but after that and I mean long after that, there are a ton of people that have had nothing to do, or had any knowledge of this that will also continue to pay the price for the actions of one and the ignorance and greed of others. This is really the first time in my life that I've had a "Hero", or someone that I held up on a pedestal. fail in such a way that I can only feel anger and disdain. God help us if sports or fame in any way makes us believe that there are different degrees of wrong; there are not and hurting a child should be dealt with swiftly and with prejudice and that goes for anyone that turns a blind eye. I truly hope that the tens of thousands of players, students, alumni and Pennsylvanians that didn't know and couldn't do anything to stop this, hold their heads up and don't blindly support anyone that knew.

I've had some cats like that, but the two I have now are total people cats and I wasn't exaggerating when I said Felix thinks he's a dog. Denise took them to the vet's a month ago and I told her to just toss them in the back seat of the truck and let them deal with it and Felix went to sleep for the ride and still hops in the truck if I leave the door open. These two are special and I hope they're around for a long time.

Felix, the hunter, stray also that showed up one day and never left. He acts like a dog, listens to commands, asks to go outside by hitting the door knob and making noise, catches birds in flight, chases ground hogs off the property and never claws anything in the house. Here he is helping a fellow animal.

Dirtball as a kitten. One of 5 born from a stray that showed up one day and stayed until she died, but I still have dirtball.
  17. I'm not familiar with that series at all, so any shots at the value.

  19. Welcome to the forum. It doesn't matter at all as long as the metal inner connects are in place.
  20. Here's the only clues I have, the picture and some dimensions that don't look correct based on the picture. I'm trying to get the person selling them to find the label or pull the grill off and send that picture to me, but I don't think they have a clue about any of this so I thought I would throw it out here. dimensions are stated as 38 x 12 x 13 but they look deeper than that, the grills don't look to fit like reference grills although the badge appears to be copper at the bottom.
  21. Welcome! Have you covered the simple things yet like switching the wires to make sure it's not the speaker, changing the wires from the main speakers to another set of terminals to check that out, playing with the balance to make sure that's not full of dirt? I would try the simple things first along with changing the source really anything you can to try and get headed in the right direction prior to assuming it something inside the unit.
  22. Welcome to the forum and get out your wallet and deposit all of your cash and credit cards on the table now as everyone here will help you spend it in short order! +1 for what dtel said but may I ask what have you been using to listen to these or what have you already heard drive them prior to you buying them. The only way you need multiple systems is if you have a need to have sound in different locations or have a completely dedicated HT room that isn't set up to get comfortable and just listen to music. There is an exception to needing multiple systems even if you don't need them and that would be called the horn flu that you get by hanging around this forum for too long, but don't worry, it can be cured with amps and preamps, subs, turntables and music/video servers.[]
  23. Great looking job as usual. Do you ever sleep Dave? Someday I hope I can comment on the technical aspects of your designs but for now I just have to appreciate the detail you put into all of it.
  24. A) Get your wife to move. A Mistress?[] Couldn't help myself, that was just too easy. On a serious note, the helping hands deal with the clips is OK, but can be a PITA at times to get parts in position. I'll have to look, but I know I've seen the same type of device with flexible lines instead of metal joints that looked like it would be a lot quicker and easier.
