  1. Im F*&ing LMAO over the screwdriver story. That's just way to funny that you took your gear to the store to buy a screw driver. I will make the trip and come help you do this if you have all the supplies and are ready, I want to hear your gear anyway and it's a good excuse for a road trip. I'm serious about the offer, so if you want to get this done, lets plan a time for after the first of the year and GET ERRRR DONE!!!!!!!![<)]
  2. All I can say is my OPPO 981 produces wonderful audio and I have it jacked in to HT and 2 and 5 ch, audio and speant a whopping $115.00 for it and now want to buy a BD OPPO, because IMO this is one of the greatest values that's out there.
  3. I'm sitting here listening to 2 pair of RB 5's and there's plenty of bass. Oh, just kicked in the 15 and now they have more.[Y]
  4. You sit...........................not set...........................................ROTFLMAO. it's all good!
  5. That goes without saying, Knoxville, here I come!!
  6. I would like to know also. I have a 981, and want to buy the BRD player.
  7. Coytee, don't post something and then not keep up with it.[H]
  8. My next trip to Florida, I'm going to stop in and see u[]
  9. Thanks very much Pete. Just in case you think these are a clone build that is not the case. These are actual Klipsch manufactured Jubilees that I have cosmetically altered. mike tn I didn't think they are clones but the Jamborees are a revised Jubilee and the wonderful work you've done will help me in my build. I can do anything with wood, but my metal skills are limited at this point, (did I just say I can do anything with wood[] LMAO) I want my build to involve many copper comonents and will rely on your skills to complete that part.
  10. Now that I actuall uploaded the photo, the post might make more sense. I think that's about how many I had when I did the post, hell, I even gave a pair of RF 35's in Cherry to a great friend of mine in the process. Spread the addiction!
  11. Have any of you seen my RP 5's, RSW 15, Velodyne 1512, KLF C7, RC 3, SABA 1240's, RS 7's? I've really lost it and moved all of the gear to the basement while I remodle the upstairs and figured I would just hook it all up and play. This is the worst addiction that I've ever had, but the best one. There are many great people on this forum and I'm glad I bought my pair of RF 7's and jumped into the madness. Build on a pair of Jamborees coming and tubes are on the list..........Stay Tuned In, (Which all of you are anyway) [H]
  12. I'm sitting in a room, 18' from a 56" HD and it looks fine. Go to a store and stand at your distance from various sizes and pick the one that suits you. In regards to what distance off the floor, I like to look at the screen where the bottom is at eye level, so it's going to come down to what you like and the furniture and if you're sitting down or laying down and from where, when you're watching T.V. and when you decide all of that, tell your wife to place her objects accordingly, without messing with the view or the sound. IMO. You are OCD, just like the rest of us, just accept it.[:S]
  13. Forgot to mention that you can switch anything, but the same principles apply regarding the switch and the amount of draw on start up of the equipment controlled by the switch. Switching a power conditioner or good surge protector that multiple pieces of equipment can run into would make the most sense, decreasing the number of switches.
  14. I'll comment on the areas that I know about. 1. If you have the opportunity to run large conduit to your locations with future pull strings understanding that whatever you do, by the time your done, you will have thought about a better way to run, or a better location, or you want to use a different connection, it happens, especially at this level of a/v. It there is a way to run accessable chases that are decorative, that can be your conduit also. 2. 10/2 wire weather it's for direct burial or indoor, really doesn't matter, although working with direct burial is more of a pain, due to the insulation around the cable. That said, the size of the wire you run has to be matched to the breaker that it's tied into and the outlet that is powering, so that in the event that there's a surge, everything will trip as it's supposed to. If you run an outlet that's 15 amp to a breaker that's 20 amp with wire rated for 40 amp, that won't provide the proper protection and isn't the correct way to do it. 3. As far as what type of cables to use, use the best you can afford ( from a proven, what type transfers signal better rather than which is the most expensive gimmic out there, and I'm sure you already know that at the level your posts are at), and be happy with your decision and don't second guess what has satisfied your a/v needs to this point. There's always something bigger and better in everything. IMO
  15. I bought a pair of 61's that I used for a short period of time and then gave them to a friend for his birthday to use as rear's and they are very nice for that, but I wouldn't use them for mains, even with a sub, but I would give a listen to RB 5's with a nice sub. I run this in a secondary room and it's wonderful, and you can pick up the RB 5's for less than 61's and they blow the 61's away IMO.
  16. Incredible work Mike! You are on my list of people that I will be asking for techincal assistance when I start my Jamboree build. I may have missed it in the thread but do you have any idea what your total material cost ended up at and how many labor hours you had into your build? One other question would be if you could have had one additional tool that would have made the job easier, what would it have been?
  17. If you could find a nice pair of RP 5's, they would really sound nice in a room that size. Bottom line is that you have to listen and love what you hear, regardless of any advice you get.
  18. I'm glad I have this forum for advice on what to use because when it comes to crossovers and the electronics end of it I don't know what I don't know. Does anyone know of a good reference manual or software program on speaker building (the electronics part), and crossover design and building? It's something that I would like to start educating myself on now.
  19. That's just way cool that you're 13 and on the Klipsch forum asking advice on equipment. Tell me about the room that your set up is in.
  20. I do. Greg I'm assuming that you have built the Jamboree's and if I'm not mistaken, I have read through some of the threads. So what direction do you think I should go? I'm really leaning to the Jamboree's and building the bass bins and then using one of the crazy round horns that I've seen in other posts. I really want to keep the finish Black and Copper as I love the look of the RF speakers and have some ideas on how to bring that look out on this build. You can't go wrong with any of them as far as sound goes. I prefer my Jamborees over my Klipsch Jubilees, but they are both awesome. The MWM's are huge and huge sounding. I think they really need the right room to shine. Jamborees or Jubilees would be more flexible. The best sounding speakers I own are my modified Khorns. I'll be interested to see what you do with the aesthetics, please post photos when you build them. Greg What did you use for the drivers, horns and what crossover worked best in your Jamborees? Pete
  21. My 7's wore me out the first couple of weeks, but I think that was just me getting adjusted to the clarity of the highs. Now, I'm searching for more of the same, and I would suggest just listneing for a while and you will like what you like and what ever you decide will be right for you.

  23. IMO, I would take that budget and concentrate on the mains. In the long run, that will be the biggest factor regarding your audio pleasure. For your budget, you could pick up alot of great speakers and just take your time and build on it as financing allows. You have to make the choice for audio or HT first and then go from there.
