  1. got it, thanks .. been exercising this thing daily while the girls are in Iowa for the week. I'm still grinning 6 months later.
  2. what kind of primer do i need to get for the best adhesion to mdf? then I assume any sort of latex paint for the top coat(s)?
  3. Thanks Mr. Clean. She's turning out to be a pretty cool kid so far - I'll be sure to include her in one of the pictures showing off its paint job. Tick Tock. it's only the 9th, and now that my arcade project is back up and playable i can focus on finishing this paint job.
  4. Wife and baby are out of town for the week so I've been flexing the HT muscles and re-watching movies. I hadn't seen this one since I got my sub back in February. No earth shattering LFE, but all 5.1 channels get a nice workout with explosions and bullets flying. And at the end with all of the tanks? My sub made it feel like they were right there with me, very cool.
  5. you're darn right i did! ran through a dozen or so clay real quick before the sun went down. Spent the rest of the night disassembling and cleaning. Hoping to skip out early and shoot some more today.
  6. a 1993 Browning Citori "Special Sporting Clays Edition". 30 inch ported barrels, 12ga. Has some nicks and wear, but locks up tight and has plenty of life in it. This is sorta like a pair of KLF-30's in the shotgun world.
  7. quite true, though now i only really notice it when new people come over and say "holy CRAP, what is that? a sub??? don't you think it's a little much?" ...and then we demo.
  8. mine is smaller than 4x18" drivers, a wall, an attic, and a cupboard above the fridge
  9. i've had great success with this one: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=295-468
  10. again, i recommend Navigon for your phone. Maps are downloaded to your phone and updates come out out about once a quarter. Region packs keep the cost down. http://www.navigon.com/portal/us/produkte/navigationssoftware/index.html
  11. OR ..spend $500 on an Oppo BDP-93. It has two HDMI outs for precisely this reason - send 3d video to your tv from one and HD audio to your AVR from the other.
  12. i use navigon on my iphone, hooked up through the car/truck's AUX input. i can stream pandora the whole time and get audible directions through the speakers ..no need for a mount or to take my eyes off the road.
  13. i'm really liking that finish dude!
  14. as always, beautiful work.
  15. well finally found my project start. it was once a neo-geo cabinet that was converted to Tekken 3 at some point. got some nicks and dings and non-neo geo cosmetics that will take some time to restore, but it's structurally sound and most importantly the 25" monitor is in fantastic condition. and here's what it SHOULD look like
  16. sorry, not appropriate for this forum.
  17. that's not entirely accurate. ... there are a select set o movies that I prefer bluray for the full video/hd audio experience, but most of the time the 720/1080 rips are quite watchable and far greater than any standard def DVD.
  18. I've had mine since Feb and couldn't be happier. Make sure you understand the infrastructure needed to support a fully-iso library. DVD's are 4GB+ and BluRays are 46GB+. you will need a LOT of storage, and you better make sure it's redundant so you don't meltdown into a depression when your hard drives fail. The Oppo supports a plethora of media formats and of course is a physical disc player. I'd much rather spend $20 in 5 years because my bluray disc is finally too worn to play. People are pretty butthurt over the unofficial ISO feature being removed, but it's really not that big of a deal and only affects a very small percentage of users.
  19. very interesting effect. i may just try that one.
  20. thanks! Watched Star Wars Episodes I, II, and III yesterday with some buddies and the sub did NOT disappoint.
  21. definitely cool .. but i have to wonder how genuine the "setup" is with it being sponsored by pepsi, and everyone holding a pepsi in their hand, and several dudes with HUGE cameras on their shoulders to capture all the action.
  22. argh. was wondering when this would happen. between recovering from wife's unpaid maternity, out of town family visits, and rainy weekends I just haven't gotten it done. And since you're not coming up north next month, I'm no longer stressing about how it'll get done before then Give me till the end of August and I'll have her painted and pictured. I've been doing what's most important - using it! Actually having a little star wars EP I, II, III marathon this saturday with some friends. I'm excited. In the meantime, here's some much cuter photos.
