  1. You may want to re-think the "Solid Oak". I know others will chime in here as well. Solid Wood shouldn't be used in Speaker Cabinet constrution due to the ever expanding and contracting properties of wood. Just my two cents worth. Good luck on your project.. Post plenty of pictures !!
  2. What (Year,Model) did you get ? I'm assuming you acquired Heresy 1. Post some pictures and the Serial Numbers. That would help in the discussion.
  3. I can't take Credit for these Files. They both were posted here on the Forum... Your friend should be able to remove the backs of the Heresy's and see what Drivers are currently installed. The crossovers may need refreshing if they are original 1984's. Hank
  4. To me it looks like they are 1984, Heresy I, Oak Veneer, Oiled.... Hope all this helps...
  5. OK, here's the Second one... klipsch SN Format.pdf
  6. Maybe these Documents will help you out.. These are PDF Files.. Hope you can open them. Klipsch Models and Specs.pdf
  7. I'd say upgrade the capacitors (Not really expensive). Bob Crites (BEC) on this forum can help you out with an upgrade kit. You could proceed from there.
  8. Ebay has several listings for Klipsch AW-400 Outdoor Reference Speakers. You may want to look at these. They are running for about $250.00 a pair.
  9. Is the Hummm coming from BOTH Speakers or just one ?? Have you switched the Left Speaker with the Right on the Amp ?
  10. Hey Matt, I'll give you a couple of Basics here. Example: A Living Room. Most of the time all the Outlets in the Room are connected to a Single 10 amp Circuit Breaker. Chances are, you're pulling Most of the Power from the Outlet where all your Electronics plugged into. I hope you are using a Surge Protector Power Strip and NOT a Cheap Multi-Plug Outlet extention ! If you use a Power Strip you should be OK. If your House is New, All the Breakers in the Breaker Box should be Labeled. (Example: Living Room). What you described should Not be pulling anywhere close to 10 Amps. Hankhank
  11. Something new.. Any info and sources would be welcome. Hank
  12. Are there any Midrange Horns available (Non-Klipsch) that have the same specs as the Heresy K-700 ? Thanks Hank
  13. Did you use a Router to Flush Mount the Horn Lens ? What procedure did you use ?? Nice job !
  14. Bob Crites Speakers May 2009 Prices: La Scala / K-Horn Components List: Pair of used K-400 metal horns. $200.00 Pair of CT125 tweeters $160.00 Pair of Atlas PD5-VH midrange drivers $275.00 Pair of CW1526 stamped frame woofers $220.00 Pair of Type AA crossovers $285.00 Total: $1140.00 + Shipping and Handling Bob is SUPER to work with !! Hank
  15. Greg, Have you thought about using Disposable Scaples for Veneer Trimming ? You can buy them online ? They would be REAL Sharp and should help Trim Veneer very well. I haven't tried using them, just an Idea I had in my head. You can get the Handle and 100 Blades for @ $25.00 Hank
  16. That's what had me going too !! The Black Paint make them look like a Frame for the Grills. Once I looked again, I see what Greg was talking about. Hank
  17. Greg, Where did you get the Grill Cloth ?? That looks awesome !! Also can you post a Link to your website ? Thanks Hank
  18. Yeah, some people get confused. A 0.00 would be a DEAD SHORT between the Test Leads. An OPEN CIRCUIT would Read something like you said 0L. Hank
  19. I have 2 - EV T35A and 1824M Drivers that I want to Test. Both are 8 Ohm. What should I read on Both if they are Good ? I know you use the Ohms Setting on the Voltmeter. Thanks Hank
  20. Thanks Mark, I think my main confusion was the Balanced and Unbalanced Cables. Also matching the -10DB (DBX) and the +4DB (Receiver). I think I have a handle on it now, Thanks Again, Hank
  21. First, Thanks for all the Assistance in this matter. I spoke via e-mail today with Tech Support at DBX about the DBX 1231. They stated that IF you have WELL CONSTRUCTED CABLES and IF everything is on the same Power Source you should not have any problem, like Mark said. They also stated that their suggestion is an Interface Device similar to the Rane BB22. They recommended the Embeck Line Level Shifter. So from what I've learned today, I'll do one of two things.. Get some Really Damn Good Cables or spend a Few Bucks on an Interface. I guess if Life were Simple, they'd be No Challenges and what a Dull State of Mind that would be.. Bruce, Thanks for the Wiring Diagram ! Thanks for all the Input.. You Guys are Great.. Hank
  22. Thank, So what you're saying is I can go from XLR-RCA (Mono) or 1/4"-RCA (Mono) ?? Sorry for asking so many questions, it's I don't want to waste Money on the DBX or Screw up any Equipment or Speakers. Hank
  23. Aren't Both the XLR and 1/4" Jacks Balanced ?? If so, wouldn't a XLR-RCA Cable work as well as the 1/4" to RCA ?? Just curious !! There's a Web Site Markertek.com that sells various Cable like this. Thanks Hank
  24. How is the DBX 1231 wired or cabled to a Home Receiver / Pre-Amp ?? Do you use RCA Cables and wire them to the DBX Terminal Strip ?? Or is there any type of Interface Box Required ?? Any Information would be Great.. Thanks Hank
