  1. Do u know how much they sold for? With all due respect, $400 for A set of LaScalas is a steAl. U can't buy Heresys at that price. Where do you guys find these deals?
  2. Guys: I picked up a set of LaScalas today with sans woofer in one of the cabinets. These have the AA crossovers so I assume they are from the 70s. Does anyone on the forum have one they want to part with? I presume it's a k-33e ? I will have to pull the woofer from the other cabinet to see what they actually are.
  3. Wow, there is quite a lot of truth to the article, at anecdotally. It would be good to have some numbers behind the claims.
  4. More pictures. What looks like large scratches are actually dirt and dust. The horns are in excellent cosmetic condition.
  5. Flangeclose up: fits JBL, TAD, ALTEC, PEAVY compression drivers
  6. I have decided to keep my new red LeCleac'h horns. My old ones are thus for sale or trade. These are made by Autotech in Poland. Model JMLC350. You can check out their website for details. They list for $480/pr and you wait for a long time. They are made from heavy fiberglass and are a steal at the list price. I waited11 months for my last set. The distributor was expressing doubts on whether he was going to continue with the group buy... since it takes so long. I am asking $350 for both. Prefer local pick up but can ship to anywhere CONUS.Shipping will not be cheap. They are setup for nearfield listening and sound fabulous. I was using TAD 2001s with them. Thye have the standard mointing holes on the flanges so you can use a wide variety of drivers with these: K55s, JBLs, Altecs, Peaveys etc.... A great way to experiment and hear what the fuzz is all about. Open to trade suggestions. I am looking for a RC7 center. Or a nice tube amp that I can use for my highs. I have other items for trade (ex. Electrovoice T350 tweeters) and can throw some cash it as well.
  7. Islander: The room is terrible because its really small and the bass from huge speakers simply over powers it. The acoustic panels I used are all 4 inches thick, to absorb the bass. Recently I added two more corner bass traps which really clean things up. When I first started, I had Harbeth Monitor 40s which are known to have over bearing bass. I put the room treatments up for the Harbeths mainly and left them pretty much alone when I got my current setup. The speakers that really sounded best in this room, without the sound treatments were the Harboth Monitor 30s that I once had....
  8. Guys: I want to provide update on this project, I can't believe this thing has gone on for almost 2 years. I have made many crossover adjustments over this time, all of the while keeping my td2001/lecleach jmlc350 from auto tech and using the ev t350 I picked on on this very forum with excellent results. I ended up tri amping the t350s with a recapped bryston 2b circa 1980. I decided to order another set of lecleach horns last July - with a 2" throat and a smaller set of jmlc1000 with a 1" throat. They finally arrived after a 11 month wait. I have spent the last week playing around: Jmlc 350 has the td4001 and the jmlc 1000 has the td2001. I crossover end the td4001 at 670hz and 5100hz. The Jub bottoms are crossed at around 460hz The td2001 at 7300hz. I used 3rd order bw as recommended by lecleach. The td4001 has inverted polarity. The td2001 also gas reverse polarity. All drivers have been time aligned. For the bass horn I used the horn length as reported in the jubilee aes paper. So far so good. The system is excellent for near field listening with a deep and wide soundstage. The improvements are clearly worth it. The highs are so good that I no longer feel like I need a stweeter. The 2001 does a great job. I m happy to settle down right now and enjoy the music.
  9. I m shock u had a vk60 . What is wrong with it? I am using one of those myself.
  10. I second the pictures request....
  11. R Are you going to talk about the sound? Very nice setup. I m interested in comparisons between the jubs and Cornwallis as well as the moondog vs the Mac 275
  12. Does your friend has a HCA series amp? Let me guess, he is hearing hum or getting no sound in some channels in his amplifier.....
  13. Hey Guys that was an old thread. I did indeed bought a set of Autotech JMLC350s from the DIY forum. I bought them with the 1" throat and have been using them with a pair of TAD TD2001s for the past year or so. I supplement them with a set of EV T350 tweeters that I bought from a fine gentleman on this very forum. The set I borrowed has since been sold on ebay with the JBL 2435HPL drivers. I did ok. The Autotechs are much better made than the set I borrowed and not too expensive. They are quite a bargain. They sound OUTSTANDING!!! A number of you from the forum has been over: artto and Dr Who...Although I listen mostly in nearfield. I am still very happy with the results. So last July I ordered the JMLC350s with 2 inch throat, and a set of JMLC-1000s with 1 inch throat. I got a noticed last week, they finally arrived in the US. 9 months later... sporadic indeed. I plan to use TAD-4001s with the new 350s and TAD 2001 with the 1000s and see how it goes. Please stay tune. Mean time, I am simply blown away by what Rudy has done. I do like the few open baffle systems that I heard and I am sure Rudy' sound great!
  14. Rudy: These look awesome. If I am ever in the DFW area for more than a day, I would love to swing by and take a listen. What FREQ RANGE will these cover?
  15. Yes - and the passive SVS subwoofer display was awesome. I will try to post some pictures. My favorites at the show are the Wilson Audio Alexias, the DEQX demo and the MBL 101Es.... wish I had the $$. Attendance appeared low this year. This was my fourth show. Prices are ridiculous. Price to performance ratio is also ridiculous. DSD downloads at $50... No wonder this hobby is attracting virtually zero young people and dying....
  16. If you are referring to the JBL Hartsfields in the Classic Audio room, those only look like JBL Hartsfields. The pair on the show had field coil compression drivers, woofers and Fostex T500 super tweeters. I thought those sounded good. What didn't you like about about? Greg's Vittoras sounded better this time around. Apparently a lot of upgrades were made.
  17. Wow, you do great work! Looks fantastic can't wait for the end result.
  18. Coytee, you are not thinking about a second set of Jubs are you?
  19. Sorry Art, I have been on the road a lot..... Spending a lot of time of the East Coast. Maybe sometime around 7/4? I am seriously about rebuilding your stands. I love the open look. It really shows off your equipment. Kwing
  20. Why not replace the diaphragm? You can get them from simplyspeakers in Florida
  21. Can you put me down as a May-be? I might take my nephew with me... from Chicago
  22. OK Art, enough teasing - when is the listening party? If long over due.... I need to come over and take pictures of your stands... so I can build some for myself.
  23. Maybe I was only naive'. Honestly Greg I was not expecting to have to whip out my Oppenheimer book to compute the coefficieintd myself. I am not in audio business so I was unaware of the "extreme user unfriendliness" of these FIR capable devices: where real time user modifcation seem to be a dream. How would one do A/B comparison? How do you voice systems? This is crazy. With the DX38, there was a lot of experimentation to get the sound that I want. That does not seem to be possible with the DX46 FIRs. Are all current FIR capable active crossovers like this? The DX46 came out in 2010, and EV has only developed coefficient files for 3 of their speaker lines? This is almost a joke.
  24. Greg: I called EV help line yesterday and was told that the FIR settings have been developed by EV engineers only for certain EV speaker arrays. I cannot create my own settings for my speakers. Its a sad sad they in Mudville..... Should have looked into this before I bought the unit. A DX46 could be on the market soon.
  25. Thanks Greg... Why I want FIR? I just want to hear what the hype is all about? The zero phase error, brickwall filtering etc...
