  1. I don't mean to be a stick in the mud but who is the warranty through? If it is an auction then ubid is the only auction type store that has full backing from Klipsch. Meaning you can go directly through Klipsch to get warranty service. Otherwise you would have to go through the people that are saying there is a full warranty, etc. I would ask them first. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
  2. If anyone wants to make their own center channel this may be the one. Single KLF-20 ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 06-27-2002 at 08:45 AM

Ok, here are my hookups: I have new banana plugs from KnuKonceptz that doesn't permit plugging another pair in. So,to hook up 2nd set, should I get spade connecters for it? If one set is hooked up via spades under the screw cap on binding post, and other set hooked in via banana plugs, On the amp end, using the spades is a good idea. The only thing I can think of that might be a problem is being able to insert the banana clips in far enough in the hole when the spades are in place. Just a thought. does it make a difference which is going to Hi-Input & Low-Input on back of speaker. None. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
  5. I've heard from some others on here that the DD processor is causing the hiss and accetuated by the super efficiant horn speakers. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
  6. Mike- Yea, I agree with ya. I was really starting to like the "High Infidelity" album till "Keep on Lovin' You" came on. But it did help for a brief make-out session with a cute blond girl I knew back when I was skateboarding Pro-Am tournies in the late seventies. Ahh, to be 15 again. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 06-24-2002 at 10:48 PM

  8. If the horns are pointing to your ears while sitting that's just where they should be (that was the whole intent of them being that tall). Don't worry too much about the bass drivers not being in perfect line. Bass in non-directional anyway. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
  9. There is litteraly tons of discussion on the BB on this subject and nobody has the same exact opinion. If your running it through conduit, as you suggest and if the budget allows, I would get Monster Cable 12ga. from Radio Shack for about 50¢ to 60¢ a foot. Some other people here, including the late PWK, will say that zip cord (lamp cord wire) is just fine. I've been using MIT Terminator 2 Bi-Wire from Audio Advisor. It's a little pricey and probably won't fit in through the pipes. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit

  11. The passive networks aren't nessecessity for every bi-wiring rig (but it sure do work) and I'm not exactly sure what they do but here's a couple of links that may explain it. http://www.mitcables.com/pages/products/terminator_2000/page_NT2.html http://www.mitcables.com/pages/page03.html An outboard crossover is definitely needed when bi-amping otherwise you would be relying on the natual frequency rolloff of the drivers which may not sound the best. In bi-wiring you will still be using the internal crossover between the midrange and tweeter one the binding straps heve been removed from the speaker's posts. Maybe MIT's passive networks have a kind of a high-pass and low-pass filter to prevent too wide a frequency signal going to their repective driver(s). I say this because the four leads coming from teh passive networks are difinitely marked "High Output" and "Low Output" (meaning HF and LF). All the technical jargon is on their site in the white papers. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 06-23-2002 at 10:24 AM
  12. Getting older just means more people are going to welcome themselves to your money. And I don't even have kids (by choice). ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
  13. The amp is just an amplifier only. A receiver is an amp, preamp which has switching capability ,maybe tone controls and has a radio tuner. An amplifier would require all the above in seperate units (i.e.- got money??). ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 06-21-2002 at 03:56 PM
  14. I think you have a slight misconception of what bi-wiring is. Bi-wiring is when you connect a pair of leads (speaker cables)(+ & -) to a single channel pair of terminals on the amp (i.e.- the left channel) and run those to the lower pair of terminals on the speaker (i.e.- for the woofers). Then, from the same pair of terminals on the amp, run a second pair of leads (speaker cables) to the upper pair of terminals on the speaker (i.e.- midrange and tweeter. Be sure you remove the binding straps (those flat brass things that bridge the four posts on the speakers). Does it sound better? Mine definitely do. I'm using MIT Terminator 2 Bi-Wire cables from Audio Advisor (plug). They have a single pair of spade connectors at the amp and and go into a passive network box. Then they are split (and marked) into four leads for the four posts on the speakers. Bi-amping is a lot more complicated. If you intend on using the mono-blocks then you'll need four of them and an active crossover unit. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
  15. Those power ratings, I think, are relatively accurate. BUT!!s> This would be assuming that there is the absolutely cleanest signal going to them. Now your talkin' big bucks. Five figures or more I would say... ------------------ Tom's Money Pit

  19. Oh.....I'm still here..A little let down but still here. Mr. Lawn Boy next door didn't have weed-eater children over for a bite. They were there the weekend before though. I began by cutting MY lawn about twenty feet from his picnic table as slowly as I could and not use a entire tank of gas. My girlfriend came out and continued my endevor of annoyance inflicting with a smile on her face. Sad to say the Remington stayed silent....HEY!!...A MUZZLE MUFFLER!!! Now there's an idea! (Sorry, an actual "silencer" does not exist) While Sheila was mowing I went into the house and cranked up Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Couldn't Stand the Weather" and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon". She finished the backyard and the music was still going. She told me after about an hour and a half that it was starting to give her a headache.....and she has 80% hearing loss in her right ear! Maybe the next blast will be Weather Report's "Black Market" that just got remastered on CD. The idea of turning his yard purple and/or infesting it with tomato plants sounded real good since this was something I could do at night. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit This message has been edited by tblasing on 06-18-2002 at 10:11 AM
