  1. This is the second woofer I've had to replace in my speakers since I bought them a year ago. Since my last replacement I have decided to let my sub handle all of the bass. If anyone has a Denon receiver I can tell them my settings and they can tell me if I'm overdriving my speakers: In stereo through a CD Player Left and right set to 0 gain bass and trebble at 0 speakers set to large (sounds better) Max volume -20 This is what I've always had it set too since my last mishap. It just started sounding this way a couple weeks ago. On pianos and bass guitar a buzzing is clearly audible through one woofer. $80 apiece for replacements is not cheap IMO. With the volume at -20 it shouldn't be too much for these speakers should it? On this website where you can order parts, it says that the older woofer that came with the original speaker is discontinued and was replaced by a new model. Was there a quality issue with these woofers? I don't understand why my woofers are going bad. ------------------ Denon AVR-2800 KG-4 mains (too bad the rest of my speakers aren't this good) Polk C-175 center (it's ok) Infinity RS-10 Surrounds (suck) Audiosource SW-15 subwoofer (excellent sub for it's price) Pioneer DV333 DVD Sony 5 disc CD player All in a 12x12 apartment bedroom. 2. My father just got his Paradigm setup and in my opinion it sounds great. I tried to get him to go Klipsch, but they were more expensive around his parts. He has the Phantom mains, Atoms for surrounds, the PS1000 sub and the 175CC? center, all run off a Outlaw 1050 reciever. Kicks the crap outta my setup and he made sure to point that out ------------------ Denon AVR-2800 KG-4 mains (too bad the rest of my speakers aren't this good) Polk C-175 center (it's ok) Infinity RS-10 Surrounds (suck) Audiosource SW-15 subwoofer (excellent sub for it's price) Pioneer DV333 DVD Sony 5 disc CD player All in a 12x12 apartment bedroom. 3. I just got back from my father's over Thanksgiving and he has the Pana RP 56 which I beleive is the same except it lacks DVD Audio? Anyways, it looks fantastic. He has a Pana 32" Tau HDTV hooked to it by component cables. It is far better than my Pioneer. 6. Thanks guys. I turned up the sub all the way through the reciever and turned back the gain a bit on the sub and it does sound better. 7. Is it better to turn the gain up all the way on your sub and set the output on your receiver as low as it will go and adjust it accordingly if its too strong/weak? Or to set your reciever to level (0) and adjust the gain on the sub accordingly? I read something in a post below about distortion and whatnot being introduced in option number 2. So I ask you guys since you obviously know more than I do. Or option number 3, is this a dumb question? ------------------ Denon AVR-2800 KG-4 mains (too bad the rest of my speakers aren't this good) Polk C-175 center (it's ok) Infinity RS-10 Surrounds (suck) Audiosource SW-15 subwoofer (excellent sub for it's price) Pioneer DV333 DVD Sony 5 disc CD player All in a 12x12 apartment bedroom. 9. I have a Denon, and my dad just bought the Outlaw 1050. He is just now putting together a H/T system so he had no speakers to listen to surround sound. But when I played a TV source through it into his crappy BSR (who the hell are they?) speakers and compared it to my system in the same mode, his was superior. Hopefully he will have speakers when I go up for Thanksgiving break and I can do a more complete review. 17. I just put some towels over my head and all was well. LOL, I like how you put the Sony Dream Machine alarm clock in there. Sweet highs with a well defined low-end from the $.24 speaker cone. High end alarm clock, I also have one. . Dang, your page reminds me of how much I can't wait to get out of school. I need a job to support my A/V addiction.
  18. Boa - I was there too. Me and my brother had seats down by the goal line by the rest of the ISU fans. Heh, there's no need to make our team sound good, they are horrendous. 19. Never have had that problem with my Denon. It's sucks when you have to go without music and movies for a long period of time (finals week in particular). At least you can get it fixed under warranty. 24. Ok, I'm sorry if I piss anyone off, but I'm gonna have to disagree with the Denon and Outlaw comments. I have the Denon 2800 and the KG4. With the sub set off, the front speakers to large and the bass all the way up, there's hardly any thump in my system at all. Same with my father's Outlaw 1050, it also has no low end compared to his old Kenwood separates and was pretty disappointed when I suggested to him it was time to upgrade and he did. Now I'm not bashing either receiver in the HT area, because both rock, but both need a good powered subwoofer to give that missing punch. IMHO. ------------------ Denon AVR-2800 KG-4 mains Polk C-175 center Infintiy RS-10 Surrounds Audiosource SW-15 subwoofer All in a 12x12 apartment bedroom. "What?! I can't hear you!"
