  1. I would think that Klipsch would drop the II upon the III's release??? Perhaps then you might find a fire sale on the II's..... Best regards, John
  2. Very Nice.....Two ears, two speakers is all thats needed INMHO.... Best regards, John
  3. INMHO get a nice set of used forte II for around 400-600 depending on location and condition, then do the same mods you did to your Quartets plus titanium diaphragms in the squawkers, I think you will be more than happy with the results. Best regards, John
  4. Easy, Sugar....... We can all have an opinion without it becoming "personal"......
  5. I thought the term :"Forum" was for the free flow of thought and information? Best regards, John
  6. I was "generalizing" of course. However what I have read on the official Klipsch website that is available thus far, points me in that direction. Best regards, John
  7. You are correct. However the II, has a 15" passive. The point remains the same however, in that less than a $500.00 upgrade on a pair of II's will essentially give you a forte III. Unless you think mumps on a horn is worth an extra $3,000.00 plus??? Best regards, John
  8. The forte 1 and II both have 15" passives as does the III. The main difference between the II and III is titanium diaphragms in the squawker and tweeter. As well as the above described "Mumps" on the mid range horn. I am an original owner of forte II, since 1992. Several years ago I upgraded my diaphragms to titanium in squawker and tweeter as well as new BC networks. The upgrade to titanium diaphragms in squawker requires a band pass roll off between squawkers and tweets which is a simple and inexpensive mod. Do this all for under $500.00 and I am convinced that the difference between the II and III will be negligible at best. Best regards, John
  9. 27 years, but whose counting??? 25 for me, bought mine in 1992.., Best regards John
  10. Absolutely, drones are always in season. If you lived closer I would come over and do it myself for you. Great target practice..... Best regards, John
  11. Jason; Thank you. I was not aware of that. Guess I never investigated Klipschorn or La Scalla, since I do not have the footprint available for either. Best regards, John
  12. BTW, INMHO the results are outstanding. To the naysayers, show me a Heritage product made in the last 10+ years that use phenolic diaphragms? Best regards, John
  13. Although the response curve will vary from the attached forte II graph, the concept remains the same. A bandpass limits the out put of the squawker driver. Please see detailed description from Bob Crites below: I can provide a little technical information of using the Klipsch titanium midrange to replace the orignal phenolics. On the trace below, the red is an original K-53 phenolic diaphrgm and the green is the K-53TI titanium midrange diaphragm on the same 700 hz horn. We see slightly higher average output for the titanium than the phenolic. The phenolic output drops like a stone at 6khz where the tweeter takes over. That allows the crossover to be pretty simple since there is no reason to roll off the midrange. But, the titanium diaphragm keeps on going, in fact heading for a peak at around 7.3khz before it drops off. So, if the titanium diaphragm is used in place of the phenolic without a crossover mod, you would have the midrange and tweeter both at full output at the same time around 7khz. 14. So, that brings us to a logical next question, which is are any of the Heritage and or Extended Heritage speakers of that time period correct as far as published frequency response? Best regards,, John
  15. Here's a play by play of what was said: So you didn't say it directly but the insinuation is there or, you really were making it up and the spec's are correct? Chief bonehead Forum Veteran Regulars 505 443 posts Posted 17 hours ago Done. You don't get it see ya!! As I told deano , I don't owe you anything.
  16. No one on this forum is a God, or deserves to be worshiped, etc. The question put forth to Ray was quite simple, and could/should have been addressed properly, pages ago. I for one have had enough of some people's pompous attitude on this forum. There was a time, many years ago when people were friendly and helpful on this forum. No longer does this seem to be the case. Over and out Houston! Best regards, John
  17. JimJimbo, I have read through this thread several times and have yet to find a "pissy" attitude toward anyone. Has the Klipsch Forum become a religion with a high Archy similar to the Vatican in Rome?
  18. Yes. Thank you. INMHO no one is trying to trip up anyone, or arrange an inquisition or anything else mid-evil. Just clarification on the bottom response of the forte and forte II, Best regards, John
  19. Wow! Why has such a simple question become so confrontational? Either the forte and forte II went down to 32HZ, or they did not. If not, why cant a better explanation be provided other than flipped responses? Best regards, John
  20. All documentation that I have from my pair purchased in 1992 shows a bottom response of 32HZ. As well as documentation on the Klipsch website. I believe that the new forte III will probably become the most popular, best selling speaker in the current Heritage/Extended Heritage lineup. However at $3,600 a pair, I will stick with my modified II's. Upgraded mid and tweeter diaphragms to titanium and put in a Crites made band pass rollover between squawker and tweeter. So, INMHO pretty darn close to a Forte III, along with a better low end.
  21. Anyone know if the dimensions of the forte III are the same as the forte II? Would be nice to have a set of the lambs wool grill covers on my forte II.
  22. The Forte II digs down to 32Hz. Are you sure only 38Hz on III? Best regards, John
  23. Bob Crites replacement mid range is phenolic and not titanium. You can order K53TI, titanium diaphragms for the mid range through Klipsch directly, Sernd me a PM if you want additional information. A titanium diaphragm in the squawker horn does require a crossover mod. You have one of the best balanced speakers Klipsch ever made. Enjoy, and best regards. John
  24. It is the beginning of the zombie apocalypse! Best regards, John
