  1. There is a reason that the forte line has been the best-selling Klipsch Heritage model since its inception, back in 1985. What sub are you using? I have owned forte II for over 30 years, and now own forte IV. From a music standpoint, a sub is not really required unless you are looking for the lowest octave in organ music, etc. The forte bass is very punchy, and although it struggles below 35-38HZ, it almost sounds an octave lower due to no distortion. If the speakers will be dual use for movies etc. it is still debatable as to whether a sub is needed, unless you are looking for sub terranean bass. Purchase the forte IV and you will be set for the next 30 plus years. Do not discount a nice used pair. I bought a month-old perfect condition with boxes and inserts, etc. for 2K less than new.

  5. You have been provided options with zero feedback.
  6. Asking top dollar for so-so cabinetry and pushed in dust caps. 😶
  7. Not sure what your budget is, but a pristine pair can be had on the used market for between $3,200-$3,500. Or consider a pair of forte or forte II pristine for about $1,500.00 a pair or less.
  8. Ditto. forte IV. Do you think your living environment will change over the next few years? The forte IV will grow with you. Believe it or not actually a smaller footprint than the Heresy yet will compete with a Cornwall in just about any environment.

  10. This limited warranty does not cover failure of the product arising, in whole or in part, from improper installation, storage, transportation, misuse, abuse, accident, neglect, mishandling, unauthorized repair, modification, or wear from ordinary use or environmental deterioration. I would call Klipsch and find out the cost of (1) new grill covering, and or frame and fabric. From your description it sounds as if only one was affected. I would think that any chemical cleaner would make the stain run down the fabric only making it look worse.

  12. Your amp is more than sufficient. to drive the Cornwall IV's at low to moderate volumes. I think it is more than safe to assume that your stepdaughter over drove the amp to beyond its limits. You stated you found the volume at the 12 o' clock position. Is the amp still under warranty? If I am not mistaken the Cornwall are 103-104db efficient. Anything over 15 wats of input power would drive most out of a small to medium sized room.
  13. Sorry for your loss. Your late father's speakers are forte II clear oak finish. Location determines pricing. However, I would say fair market value is between $800-$1,100 if grills, badges and cabinets are in good shape, as well as the rear passive radiator. The forte line is a very good speaker. My forte II were exactly the same in perfect condition. Mine were built in 1992 as well. I sold mine last year for 1K to a forum member and purchased the new forte IV. In 1992 they would have sold for $800-1,000 a pair, back then fortes went on sale. Not many things in life hold a value like that. I would hold onto if you are into audio, the forte II is still a very well regarded and in demand speaker.
  14. My first real system was purchased in 1992, with a brand-new pair of forte II. I owned for 30 years prior to selling to a forum member and purchasing forte IV. INMHO one of the best all-around speakers by any manufacturer. Are there better speakers? Of course. However, to my ears the forte line focuses on the whole sound, rather than specialize in a certain area. I never bought in to "chasing the dragon". At 57, these will be my last speaker purchase, and I am more than satisfied with my decision. I hope you are reunited with your fortes soon.
