  1. CONGRATS!! Man that thing is ummmmm BIG! I bet it rocks the house!
  2. I'm actually in the process of doing this. I have Forte 2's and KLF 20's and currently seeking C2's. In my listening room which is somewhat small (12x12) the nod is going to the Forte 2's. As mentioned the KLF's love power and you need a good bit to open them up. I've since moved them into the living room which is WAAAAAAY larger and they just fill the room I think these need a pretty good sized room to really be able to hear there soundstage. What size room will "they" be in?
  3. I also have a set of Forte II's that I will soon be upgrading the networks. I would appreciate some feedback if you decide on the ALK's as I would like to know your impressions. What tubes and amp you running?
  4. Very Nice! Bob has great stuff, glad these found a loving owner! With the upgrades you are doing they will last another 30 years. I have a set of Heresy II's that are my first Klipsch speaker, I love em they are such a nice sounding speaker. Enjoy!
  5. OP any update to this? I too have been looking into replacing my SVS PB10 with a smaller more "compact" sub.
  6. Ok I managed to find a Academy in great shape so I snatched it up. Next up will be the surrounds and a compact sub. You guys got anymore suggestions on either? The sub will need to fit in a 14x14x14 enclosure.
  7. Dandoyen - WOW man impressive setup. I just wanted to also say THANK YOU for your service, sacrifices, bravery and valor and for letting me live in a country that is free...I know that comes with a price THANK YOU! God bless the USA!
  8. WOW it is bad..Klipsch forum gods Zeus and Venus please please leave this site alone!
  9. FYI - I have owned both cornwall 1's and still own a set of H2's. The cornwall is a great speaker but for my listening room of 12x12 they were overkill, I sold a really nice set for 700.00 that were in almost perfect shape I replaced them with Forte 2's. The H2's that I currently own I bought them for 400.00 and they are as close to perfect as you can get, no nicks or scratches, pushed in cones, nothing they look brand new. The seller was the original purchaser he even gave me the original purchase receipt. Anyway depending on the size of your room will yield different results, this is what I have learned over the past two years. Bigger in this case my not be better those lil H2's I have sound wonderful with the upgraded bob crites xovers and titanium tweeter diaphrams!! Good luck in your journey!
  10. Thanks for the responses guys I appreciate it! Naturally I would like to get the best bang for the buck if I got to purchase another piece of equipment. I found an X30 on flea bay not sure how much better that would perform vs the NHT?? Also I called SVS for S&G's and they told me that they could sell me the newer style amp for my PB10 which would eliminate the need for another piece of equipment to work with but the price for that is 250.00. Also by splitting the peaches main outs would I be lessening the sound quality?
  11. I'm going to replace my existing sub with a smaller compact sub so the wife will stop complaining. I thought about selling this sub but then I thought maybe I could put it to use in my 2 Channel setup. The sub is a older SVS PB10 that has one RCA connection and NO LOW PASS FILTER. The pre amp (JM Peach) only has one set of MAIN OUTS and those are being feed to the MC-2105 power amp. I'm thinking I can split the outs on the peach with 2 Y splitters this would then give me 2 outputs. Now as I mentioned my sub does not have a low pass filter as the manufacturer was envisioning an AVR to handle crossing the sub (The built in filter only goes down to 333mhz or hz). I need some way to get that sub down to the 40-50 range. Can you guys tell me what additional equipment I would need to accomplish this? I'm thinking I would need some sort of crossover but I have no way in knowing how I would add the crossover into my existing setup?
  12. Thanks for all the comments so far. I'm going to proceed with securing the Academy. Next I will need rear surrounds that are mountable or in wall? Also will need to find a "Compact" style sub.
  13. Thanks for the response. I've read mixed reviews of the C-7 and Forte's I have found both a C-7 and an Academy not sure which one to get at the moment, they are priced the same. I need to upgrade my forte's as well they are still bone stock. I put new crites networks and titanium diaphragms in my heresy 2's and boy what a difference! I'm really going to need to mount the rear surrounds up out of the way so maybe the small KG 1.2's might be an option? Sadly I will have to part ways with my SVS PB10 sub that I have enjoyed for the past couple of years. I will be looking to replace it with a "Compact" model something that will be concealed inside of my entertainment center it will need to fit an opening of 15x16x16 any recommendations?
  14. Looking for some advice on building a decent 5.1 system around my current forte 2's. This is all about the waf so I can't go forte's all the way around like I would like to. I really only have 2 options and would like to get some rear surround recommendations. First off I have attached a pic below of the rear of my living room. I only have about 55"-60" from the rear walls to the recliners so not sure I could have a floor standing speaker there. I think the best bet would be to mount something up in the corners out of sight again for waf and sound? I just pulled the trigger on a Marantz SR-5005 that will act as a pre/pro. I've decided to try and score an academy for the center channel as I've read besides getting another forte that the academy is the recommended center. Anyone got any recommendations for my room?? Oh I currently have a SVS PB-10 that I will need to unload/trade at some point for another sub that will match the Forte color (Oiled Oak). Any advice on what sub would work?? Appreciate the help!
  15. Recently acquired KLF 20's with the Dean G xovers. Re-arranged the room so the KLF's would be on the long wall. Enjoying this hobby, all the hype is very true about the KLF's being great for rock music these things POUND!
  16. I'm building the same type system and I have decided to purchase the Marantz SR 5005 that was previously mentioned.
  17. MAC Mini with all my lossess tunes on a 1tb external drive streaming to 2 apple tv's that are controlled via iPads and iPhones...."it just works"!
  18. Only a matter of time.... bought there stock in 1991 sold there stock last year. Anyway today's big box stores can not compete with the likes of amazon, just like blockbuster could not compete with netflix. It's a shame because I do go into those stores to get a "In Person" view of whatever electronics item that I'm looking to purchase. However nearly 100% of the time I can find that same electronic device way cheaper online by authorized resellers. Having said that my last TV purchase I showed the store manager the online price that I pulled up on my smartphone....he matched the price.
  19. Sub - anticipating an updated review of this unit as I'm close to making a decision on a AVR or pre/pro and this unit is near the top of the list.
  20. I'll be watching this thread closely. There is a pretty good deal going on for the Marantz SR5005 and this amp from Outlaw at the moment.
  21. Man that 2300 is a BEAST! Nice setup what are those tall cylinders in the corners?

    AVR or Amp

Curious it looks like you went with the Onkyo pre/pro over the Pioneer unit based on your sig why was that and are you glad you did?
  23. The UMC-1 is a Pre/Pro (Preamp + Processor). It does not have an internal amp to power your speakers. Ok I get that. also I was reading up on your initial thread on the UMC. Wondering did you ever get the thing tweaked for HT like you wanted? I'm new to the HT scene so my learning curve for the UMC would be steep to say the least when that time comes as for right now I only have 2 channel. I'm really at a loss for what to do. There is a decent deal on a Pioneer Sc-35 in the garage sale section but dont know what sacrifices I would be making by going that route over the separates route.
  24. My bad I just read up on the UMC-1 and it seems as tho it will fullfill my need for HDMI inputs. I dont know anything about emotiva nor do I understand what the real function of the UMC is to me it seems to be a AVR but I'm not sure?
