  1. Ok so after saying the same thing on a few threads I finally am going to sum up what I would like to do and see if this seems reasonable. I have a wdth restriction of 22" width wise. I thought of building a DBB but then saw the 30" width. I have always liked the triangle port since I saw them on the KPT-684. Now the 684 is only 24" wide and has 18's so could I do something like yours/684 using 15" and get the width down to 22" and achieve similar resultsto your DBB? I originally thought I would have to use 12" drivers. SO seeing zero T/S on Bob Crites twelves I asked him something similar and he mentione building the KLF-30. So what do you suggest. Great thing about Crites twelves is they are very cheap and I COULD afford to do the dual 12 per cabinet around X-mas time other wise I will have to wait alittle later. Unless there is a suitable Beyma driver which I can usually get pretty cheap here. Lastly when looking at the 684 and other cabinets crossed at 800hz are the woofers both doing up to 800hz or is the bottom woofer being crossed lower and being used as a helper woofer? Thanks for any help and sorry for posting similar posts in others threads.
  2. Did you buy those or build those KPT-904 cabinets? Thinking I might have to do a variation of these and build my own.
  3. 22" is the max I can go and even then 21" would be better. I might have to try and make a smaller version. I asked Bob Crites about doing a 12" version using his drivers and he said to build something like the KLF-30. http://www.klipsch.com/klf-30 In the very far future (3 years) width wont be a problem. But for now I am limited.[:'(]
  4. Cant seem to find JC thread so I will ask here but is there any plans for a DBB using 12"? I would like to build one of these but my space is limited. I just dont have the width to fit these bad boys and my subs next to each other. Dual Crites 12's maybe.
  5. Sorry but where was the review on JC's dual 12 horn? Did you build the MB1? or was it the MB2 you have.....sorry confused.
  6. I am sort of limited to about 22-23" width. I could always stack my cabinet on top of my sub but that would make the sub/cabinet 48" high before I even put the midrange and highs on top. Has anyone ever done a 12" version of this? Maybe a dual Bob Crites 12" Cornscalla. The main thing I have been after is tactile accurate bass. I haven't been able to listen to most of the Klipsch range of speakers except an old pair of Khorns along time ago. Last thing I heard that had the type of bass I liked was a bass bin with a pair of JBL 18" tuned to around 42hz. That had effortless bass that when listening to my Tchaikovsky 1812 track when the canons were going off you felt it in your chest, pants and every where else. Now I dont have the cash or room for dual 18" JBL cabs or Jubilee bass bins. SO thats why I am wondering what design should I look at in regards to the Klipsch family that could provide me with similar bass that I like? I realize I dont need dual 18's but do want the tactile bass from my next build.
  7. Did you use the Kappa 15C? Are they similar to the Crites Cast? And how wide are these cabinets? I am still stuck between doing a few different designs because of my limited space I have. One part of me wants to build a simiar build or DBB but the other side of me wants maybe something smaller. AAARRRGGGHHHH decisions.
  8. I am still wondering what the other horn designs you had mentioned earlier that you said where easy to build but maybe nutty or something. I would love to still try and build a horn like this but honestly dont know if I have the skills for the build. But I do like to learn so who knows. Did you ever try the 3012HO's?
  9. What drivers will be needed JWC for either design quoted above? Are these leaning towards your bass horn size or no?
  10. Well I might have to wait and try and build something like this. Then in the future I can build something more difficult like your bass horn.
  11. Funny but I was always thinking of trying to build a horn and use the 3012LF. After chatting with Zilch so many times he sold me on these drivers. I will have to wait to see some others builds. I think I could build one of these tractrix horns but I would like to stick with a rectangle and not the cirlce. I will also have to try and figure out these equations so I know how low I can actually go with only 30" width to play with. But I will definitely have to keep these plans on file for the future. And sorry to everyone for whom I ask alot of questions in pms. Just tryin to figure these things out.
  12. The Econowave and deluxe Ewavs are nice and so is this design for Crites. I just commented some where that the I thought the Ewavelooked very similar also. But after gathering parts they are not alot cheaper so I think they are both very close in price. The Ewave thread is here: http://techtalk.parts-express.com/showthread.php?t=215536 All the different types are here that Zilch designed. He used to make PCB for crossovers for everyone but he no longer does that anymore. RIP Zilch. Did you use a grille from parts express or did that come with the crites kit.
  13. What other drivers did you want to try? Would those drivers be able to go down as low as the ones already used?
  14. Do you think that size box would be safe enough for traveling overseas? Just wondering if the box would be any bigger. With these measurements that would be around $550 for shipping to me. And this is just one 402 yes?
  15. I have seen many pics of brand new packaged 402s but was just wondering how much do they weigh and what are the dimensions? I wont be buying any but I am just wondering what the cost would be for the shipping so I wanted to know the size of the packaged 402. Then maybe in the far future I can save up for them or atleast know what they will cost me to have them here in OZ. Thanks everyone, David
  16. Forgot to ask how heavy is your tractrix bass bin? I dont think I have the skills to make one but they look very cool. Unfortunately living in Australia makes everything extremely expensive so I am learning how to build most of the things I want. Not to compare but are the lower range of your horns about the same as the LS bass bins? I know you can port a LS bin but just a regular bin I was thinking might have the same F3? I could be way off but I figured better to ask.
  17. I was surprised to not see any Angus and Julia Stone. John Butler, Jaco Pastorious, Stanley Clark live, Enya, Paganini, or Jordi Savall. But the Kunzel 1812 and Steely Dan are great auditioning discs. I have alot as you can see from the artists listed. I usually listen to new speakers for about 5-6 hours. Last set of speakers I bought many years ago before I moved to Australia where the Paradigm Studio 20s. My friend and salesman said they just got the speakers in and I should break them in for them. So like always I through some of my discs in and had fun. Butg now BR DVD audio is out and not I need to update.
  18. Well I would be happy if the LS's could manage by themselves down to around 50hz. Then have asteep fall off from there. I wont be building Jubs or Jambs yet so I am not expecting miracles. To 50hz with some serious spl is good enough. The lows can be handled by a sub. I think the LS's will sound awesome with the slot port but I will always want a sub. I am sure even if I had the Jubs I would want a sub. Just like Cask05. Oh and another question is what configuration does everyone have with there Jubs? On the Klipsch 535 I keep seeing dual 12's. I thought everyone had dual 15's?
  19. Did you ever decide on which monster Danley sub? Or did you think of something else? The ones you mentioned are massive in terms of power.
  20. Do you have any pics of the speakers(Jambs) across the living room? Just wondering how they look in the living room. I know you showed the one in the corner but I didn't know if you had any full living room pics? Or maybe not because there is still construction going on? Either way thanks for the helpful info and build thread.
  21. You could be the first. I am sure others could aid you in any questions you would have. It appears that the build should be very easy. http://www.critesspeakers.com/cs15.pdf After looking at those plans I dont think you should have any troubles. They remind me of the Ewaves alot of people are doing on the AVS website and PE forum. They are very similar but people usually use a QSC152 WG instead of the crites. There are lots of build threads on those builds but I couldn't find any on the CD1.5 either. But like I said, you can be the pioneer.[]
  22. I need to check out that modded 2496. I have seen tube mods but dont really understand all the mods. So I will do a search for your mod and see what I can find. And I keep seeing these Crown amps that alot of others are using on this forum. I wont be able to buy them but can dream. Maybe a T-amp I can build. The Crowns I keep seeing are around $900 so that might be my weakest link after building them. Well that and may 13.5ft width room that they would have to go against.[]
  23. Does Marchand still sell the kit you bought? I know he said they were going to stop selling some of their kits so I wondered. I will be buying their WM8 for my subs but it will just be an EZYkit so pretty simple to put together. Do you know if it is very hard to install selectable knobs instead infinite ones that come with the kit? I would much prefer the selectable ones but he is not making that kit anymore and it would cost me another $100 so I figured I might be able to just do it on my own. Either way I think I will try and build your crossover and use your thread as a guide. It will be some months from now but glad someone did a thread on this one.
  24. I would be going with 3/4" probably marine ply because it is readilly available and isn't to horribly expensive. And it does have a very nice sides to start. Now I could try and get some 1" for atleast the exterior sides but will have to see what the expense is. I never even thought of using MDF for the LS bins but it would be cheaper. And 1" on all exterior sides would be cheap also. But I guess then I will have tp learn to veneer. Think I might just stick with plywood. But either way the sides wont be flexing.
  25. I hate you guys and your grand "large," systems.[] But I think in the future I will end up going to one of these alrger systems for my bass needs. Jubs seem like they would have enough slam for me in a smaller package than the MCM or MWM.(Not sure what they are called) Mark how wide is your room in that avatar?
