  1. Avengers 3d has a great 7.1 DTS-HD MA audio track
  2. Avengers 3d with the 7.1 DTS-HD Master soundtrack is the best i have heard so far.....I'll have to try battleship
  3. Fedex is bringing my Onkyo tx-nr3009 today.
  4. Id look at a tx-nr3009. Yeah it has amps but you dont have to use them. Besides you have an option for zone 2/3 amplification and video distribution and wont have to buy more amps. Its around 1350.....and in the 60lb range
  5. I just bought a brand new looking Samson sx1200 off CL...i think its about 300wpc. It sounds very good...has two fans but they are much quieter. Cost: 150 bux
  6. Found some Quartets...look to be in great shape...priced at 250....dunno what they are actually going for as I never see them for sale
  7. you cant swap fans on this particular amp..Power Base 2...but ill live with it until I buy another as it sounds SO much better than my onkyo or adcom did.
  8. No eye deer. It must be the way it handles the low ohm dips of the woofers. The adcom didnt sound quite as good (minutely perceptible difference) as having my onkyo receiver in bridged mode.I literally keep getting up at times to make sure my subs arent on in 2 channel mode. Finally I hear that the Chorus can kick some *** and the klf-30s have some BALLZ! Before when I would turn up the music really loud it would be very bright and irritating and the bottom end didt elevate like the highs. Now it just gets louder and louder but staying just as clear as when the volume is low. Yeah i know this old news for lots of you guys but Im sure there are some out there who dont know just like I didnt until yesterday.
  9. I have some Klipsch Chorus and some KLF-30s. Ive always thought the Chorus to be gutless down low and the Klf-30s to be only a little better. Ive been powering them with my yamaha dsp-a1 (110wpc) from 2000-2010 and then with an onkyo tx-nr3007 (140wpc) from 2010 to present. Recently I put the onkyo in bridged mode to get around 230wpc...still loud but nutless. So then I tried an Adcom 555 (200wpc)....no difference. I have 2-18" subs so I havent been missing bass but wondered why these big ole speakers didnt have any. I just bought the oldest/cheapest/junkiest pro amp you can probalbly get. It is a Crown Power Base 2 that looks like it was pulled out of the trash...80 bux on craigslist...:"what the hell" i thought. It is 325wpc and im using some radioshack rca to 1/4plug adapters. OMG!!!! on this amp these speakers ROCK...I mean hard. Gone is any brightness,,,,and the bass is wonderful. Of course this old amp has a fan that sounds like a blow dryer going in my livinroom but i dont care...these speakers have never sounded this good. Had I known this, I would have bought a pre-processor to decode DTS-MA.. Dolby HD and other formats then bought a couple of pro amps.I know a lot of you guys like the old rock and roll but when I say bass I mean the low stuff that aggravates you in cars at the redlight....these speakers now produce that. They are so clear and just sound full and STRONG. Yeah i saw the light...it must be the low ohm capability of the amp.....just AWESOME!
  10. I may be selling my Chorus Is soon...crites tweeters and crossover component upgrades. I alsoadded some port tubes to make them goa few hz lower than stock...im in an Atlanta suburb
  11. thanks! I dont need bass...I cross my Chorus over at 80hz and let the 18s take care of the bass
  12. What do you guys think a pair of Epic Cf-2..>Version 1 are worth as a buyer? They are supposed to be in good shape. I'd like some CF-3/4s but these would be great surrounds for those if I ever found a set. How do you think they would compare to my Chorus Is? Thanks guys
  13. how much is your bill? I just renogotiated my comcast bill. 12 or 16mbs internet tier.....i forget the cable package....its like digital plus (has NatGeoHD and Discovery HD),,,,,hbo...showtime...encore and one HD box...85bux a month Id LOVE to have Fios though
  14. I think the Audyssee correction on my Onkyo does that
  15. do the ort tube modification...its easy, cheap and simple to remove if you want
  16. i do not but read my post about adding port tubes in the modifications section. easy 25 bux and it does extend the bass lower
  17. I have an Onkyo tx-nr3007 rated at 140wpc...bridged is almost double that. People said it would sound better with a seperate amp. I got an Adcom gfa 555 which is 200wpc. I gave it 3 days as suggested. I just hooked the chorus back up to my Onkyo and WOW. The soundstage is so much wider......the dynamics are better as well. This Onkyo rocks. if I were looking for a new AVR i'd get last years top model, the tx-nr5007 for cheap and be so happy.
  18. The Last Airbender movie score/soundtrack is going to be my showcase music for my Klipsch Chorus speakers. This soundtrack has great dynamics...well mixed and really shows off the horns. From the big drums to the horns,, this score just rocks!!!!!!
  19. WARNING>>>NON_AUDIOPHILE INFO I read on another site that I should try port tubes in my Chorus Is that are about 7" long to get the bass a little lower. I bought eight 4.5" x 4" port tubes from a guy on ebay...cost about 25bux shipped. I cut off 2.5" of 4 of the tubes and taped/glued them to the other 4 to give me 4 tubes 7" long. They fit loosely so i used several wraps of duct tape to get them to fit the openings of the speaker. to test i used a mp3 called "bass hit"...its an old song that the kids played back in the day to rattle everything in their cars. It has a point in the song where the bass hits 4 low notes in sequence getting progressively lower. Without the port tubes, note 3 was about half the volume of notes 1 and 2 with note 4 being almost non existant. With the port tubes installed note 3 was as loud as 1 and 2 and note 4 was much quieter but definitely audible/felt. I do not know what frequency these notes are but it did make a difference. For 25 bux you cant beat it. Sorry it wasnt more technical and scientific but it works. this link will be dead one day but here is where i got my tubes...ordered on friday and received on Monday...from Arkansas. to Georgia http://cgi.ebay.com/4-Port-Tube-Subwoofer-Sub-Woofer-Speaker-Box-Pro-Audio-/300412946335?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f201c79f
  20. thanks for the recommendations guys. The problem wasnt brightness or harshness......it just didnt sound as full and dynamic. Maybe Ill try it again today but the sound difference before was immediate.
  21. Well I bought an Adcom GFA 555 amp locally on craigslist. it is 200wpc @ 8 ohms.Results....the onkyo sounds better when in bridged mode than the Adcom. I was shocked. The adcom weighs about 35lbs and the Onkyo 50....I dont know what that means about power/quality but I was surprised at the results. The Onkyo sounds "wider".....like the speakers are further apart. The adcom sounds like mono if you will. The Onkyo is a tx nr3007...claims 140wpc@ 8 ohms in non bridged mode and over 200 bridged. Now i gotta sell the Adcom that I just bought wednesday
  22. whatever you do get the Crites tweeters for your Chorus Is...I just did and love the difference.
  23. i like how its setup right now....bridged fronts and of course center, rears and subs.
  24. I do not have but the one receiver..onkyo tx nr3007. I didnt think it would be worth it to passively biamp the speakers.
  25. Im confuzzled. they are bridged into my Onkyo tx nr3007.
