  2. Stevie Ray brings back great memories spent varmint hunting with my son. We were sleeping and I woke him to "Love Struck Baby" . Which I had turned up to more then a comfortable level Poor kid jumped up from his seat in the jeep and banged his head on the hardtop! He Spent the rest of the trip trying to get back at me. Seen Robert Cray, Stevie Ray and John Hiatt at outdoor amphitheater in Salem Oregon. Rained, cold, But it was great. They keep coming back and giving us more.

    Increase in mileage

The first time you said 299.1 miles. The second time you said 399.1 miles. that's where the confusion came in. OK I see the error. It was 399.1 miles, not 299 miles. Thanks will go back and edit to try to avoid confusing anyone else still the best milage I have ever gotten with this car. I've heard that the winter gas will not provide as good of mpg so will need to run this additive a while to get a good reference.

    Increase in mileage

OK I turned on the light, put on my glasses, got the calculator with the big buttons and big display and here is what I got. I went 399.1 miles using 10.399. Or at least that was how much fuel it took to refill the tank. 399.1 miles driven divided 10.399 fuel used = 38.37 miles per gallon If I'm wrong I would be happy to see my error. John

    Increase in mileage

Filled up today at 166058 on odometer. 399.1 miles 10.399 in fuel 38.37 mpg the only way that i think I can do a fair eval is to try to drive for mileage without drafting. Mostly 70 mph on the freeway. steady and smooth on throttle.
  6. I have Pelican Case coming to use to ship stereo's. Shipping damage is not fun.
  7. I used to go snow skiing on Christmas day. One year mom told me if I didn't stay home Christmas day I wouldn't get any presents. I told her to keep them. Then took my younger sister with me. After that we always opened gifts Christmas Eve. Christmas was a good time of the year. Never felt slighted on gifts.
  8. NOT even Thanksgiving Day yet and people are talking about Christmas? Another Holiday to support the merchants. Sometimes it just gets too depressing for me. I prefer the act of giving when it is not a holiday and I do it just because I want to. Not meant to tread on other's feelings or beliefs.
  9. No one seems to understand. I've been waiting 3 years for my name came up to have my Marantz 2500 restored .. Gentleman in Montana, Tom at Vintage Electronics Restoration Service is going to work on it. About the best I get is "That;s nice."
  10. . I have several pictures of a white humming bird but it won't post here. They were taken by a kid in Virginia. If anyone wants to see I'm willing to send to email address.
  11. Seen a Poster that stated Vietnam Vet's not Fonda Jane.
  12. EXACTLY! But it does not work that way, all you can do is try to learn from the mistakes, don't bother to figure it all out it's a waste of time. If you are going to buy her anything with a power cord you are better off buying for yourself. Such as I bought myself a washing machine one year for Christmas. She does like it and uses it all the time with no complaints. However I I'd bought her a washing machine, that would not be excusable. Bought myself a cook book when we first got together. First thing I told her was the book was mine, but if she wanted to use it, well OK.
  13. I figure that if I should need to run a long cord that needs to be #12, I should have that size wiring in the house. Not real uncommon to use 2 one hundred ft cords around the house. Of course you can go overboard with it. Daughter had ceiling lamp that burn out. Maybe I should state that the wire to the light looked smaller then any speaker wire I ever used. Also the wire had gotten pretty hot by the looks of the insulation around the wire. We got her a new light put in, And told her no more 100 w bulbs in a fixture rated for 60 w. It's difficult to find good fixtures for more than 60 w. Now I can understand that contractors have to make money. It's the paper that allows most of us to eat. But when it's my house I opt for #12 as the bottom of the barrel. I don't buy it any lighter My brother has an electric Jack hammer. He kept burning it up with 12 # cords. So I gave him a hundred foot of 10 # 4 wire cord. Now thats a heavy cord to pack around, but his Hammer lasts much longer between rebuilds. If you rent his hammer you have to agree to use only his cord. And if he catches you using a lighter cord on it, could be Fight on, Don always did like to fight.
  14. I'm of the "Old School" where everything should be built to outlast my Grand Kids. When I built my house, the smallest wire was #12. It's my understanding that it will pay for itself in time over the #14. Besides if you or someone else should decide to put something else in it would be nice to have wire large enough to handle whatever might become in use. I have run up against too much wire and too many connectors with power going through the box. I prefer oversized boxes as they are easier for me to wire. Gentleman I knew wired #10 for plug in's and lights. He stated this was a mistake and made wireing much more difficult for him. Remember; Code is "Bare Minimum." of what's legal. If you're building for yourself I'd advise overkill. I've been known to run wires inside a house for future electrical additions I might want to add in the future.
  15. "I am a Nam Vet, this one fact does not help me dealing with/conversing with, any of them." I not sure I understand. If something I said bothers you then I'm sorry. No intent to make it harder on anyone.
  16. Morning Earl, long time, have not been running the rig much in the last two months, pizzing off a neighbor kind of thake the wind out of your sail. Pizzing off the neighbor who in fact is the neighbor hood wacco (Meds) is quite another. I gave him my number back when he complained, no biggie, however he has been calling me about every week and a half asking me about dogs barking, kid's yelling, and loud thumper cars. Whats next airplanes? Yeah this is a guy you dont want to mess with. (Wacked out Nam Vet on 40+ years of Meds). Used to know a Vietnam Vet. He Lived next door to a friend out of town. We went out one holiday and started shooting AK 47's and SKS's. Making all kinds of noise. I was told Ben did not have too good a night. I didn't even think until I heard that. Another guy I used to work with when I was 18, had returned from Nam. He was always real "Jumpy". I walked up behind him while he was tending chipper. Took his safety line and gave it a jerk. That guy tried to jump into the Sawmill Chipper. Felt bad after I seen how much it shook me up. Never did it again. I've worked with the older Vietnam Veterans and the younger Vets from the more current veterans. I would never knowingly do anything to any of them!
  17. Compares with; Do I take the Caddie or the Benz. Hook those Puppies up and tell us about them. But really, Tubes is the way to go.
  18. I like the Sansui 90 90 's. But have not listened to the Kenwoods. Anxiously waiting the results of the shoot out. Currently using Marantz 2335 at idle. [volume] Congrats on the K Horns.
  19. that looks cool...what is it made from? Top part is Cherry, in between is Walnut, and the bottom is varigated sandstone. The eyes are some kind of foreign orange colored wood. JJK like this? Looks a lot better when enlarged. I Like It.
  20. My current Picture is of a Australian Arms S.A.P. Also referred to as a Tasmanian Devil. Prior to that it was the animal form of the Tasmanian Devil. One of the members was being a Jerk because he did not like some of us discussing firearms, and the feedback on what a member should buy. Anyhow he called me Taz along with some other rude remarks. So I thanked him for the new nick name, and when I found a Tasmanian Devil that looks like the one I keep beside my bed I just had to post it. The picture is spot on down to the laser sights on top as to looking like mine.
  21. I once had a really old chain that had been sharpened many times so I filed down the riders a little. I didn't use a guide, and apparently took off a little to much, it was grabbing the wood so much you really had to hold on and apply no pressure when cutting. But being the cheap person I am I used it, it did cut like crazy but was a little tricky. Whenever I go to cut I usually pass the round file over it just to make sure it's sharp, the little files are cheap and work great. You need to be careful with how you sharpen your chain. Ex roommate had a saw kick back and up. cut the nerves in his shoulder limiting use of that arm. That said I have I have filed the riders down too far on a chain by not using the gauge. Actually had to hold the saw up to keep it from grabbing. This was on a saw I had run against my Grandfather's falling saw and smoked him. He didn't take it to well.
