  2. I have an Onkyo receiver I am willing to part with. I will put up pictures tomorrow. Manual can be found at http://www.intl.onkyo.com/downloads/manuals/pdf/tx-sr707_manual_e.pdf This receiver is of the line that had HDMI board issues. But I have had the board replaced. It works nicely now. Again, I am in Fort Wayne and travel to Chicago. I am willing to ship.
  3. Well you use about 8.5 feet for your current setup. Even on the "right" wall in room one, you might have more room minus the doorway than you currently have. I was just thinking the door might open out of the room. The speakers do not need to be in the corner (unless they are khorns). Just a thought for if that room indeed worked better for the house. The sub could be moved to a side wall.
  4. I find room 2 to be better. But as you have room 1 as you current room, I thought I would just throw out an idea for it. Move the desk and shelf (if they are movable) and use that "right" wal for the fronts. You do not need the speakers completely in the corner. But use most of that wall and put the subwoofer up "front" on that right wall. Put the surrounds on the "top and bottom" walls. The couch will then partially block the area to the terrace. Just an idea.
  5. I had listed a 1980 for my father, he traded it for some cornscalas to someone on the forum.
  6. Its too good to be true compared to the 800-1200 dollar chorus speakers and 500-800 forte speakers. Also, seeing the grand rapids market, everything is listed high. So I was saying that the La Scala for $750 with what everything else is priced at, makes this a decent deal.
  7. That's a nice piece of vintage power.
  8. Going brand new with the Icon and for the aesthetics would be the way I would lean. I agree that a sub would make the experience more enjoyable.

  10. I hope this is short enough. These systems are what I use as reference.
  11. Don't worry, if you are active here, the disease takes hold. Eventually, you start to gather too much gear. Now I have "too much" for the house according to the fiance. I told here we could move to a bigger house, but she would have to help me move it all, or she can let me have my fun. She said "speaker stuff" is too big and ugly. Now she can't live without it in every room.
  12. Anyone purchase something on Ebay and never have the seller accept the payment? This just happened to me and the same Oscar name was there. Just seeing for other people.
  13. and I forgot (2) PS2 with controllers, multiplayer adapters, DVD remote and games al together. If anything interests you, make an offer or ask about it. I am looking for funds and or more equipment. None of the stuff "needs to go". And Again, I am in the Chicago or Fort Wayne area and can meet along that route. Willing to drive a bit for the right deal (2 hours from that chicago to ft wayne trip.) So Indy, NW ohio, southern Michigan. Northern Illinois, etc. Can also ship some stuff. Willing to ship Academy or other single speakers.
  14. I know not having prices holds people back. I am not offended by offers that are not in line with my thinking. I can be way off base. If pictures are requested, I will send. I will get some up eventually. Some if this gear is located in Chicago at my father's place. 15. Well I just had a furnace go out, so I will pass on buying speakers straight up at this time.
  16. Good questions. I will get pics next time I am back Home. I am guessing box size was determined by "experience". He was in car audio for the longest time. His La Scalas actually came out of a Car and so did the 24" woofers (different cars I think). I will get more of the story at some point. What would be the cheapest and easiest way to figure out how low they go?
  17. How Much Shipped to 60133, as I may be interested at being second in line?
  18. It also sounds good. But now its back to work on my systems.
  19. Well, not a refinishing project, but a base section build led to this. It works nicely as a riser, and brings the horns up. Good luck on you project.
  20. My Father has now completed his Main System. He is happy and so am I. He had built "vertical" Heresys to lay on their sides as surrounds for his 13x31 space. The Fronts are on the short wall. Cornwalls are on the rear wall by the pool table. Normal Heresy, high upside down as a center. The Fronts are where it gets interesting. He built additional Base cabinets for La Scalas. Now he has two base cabinets in addition to the La Scala mains in front. They are fed the same FL and FR signal. The Normal .2 subs are behind his "sweet spot" but in front of my "sweet spot" They are 24" woofers pulled out of the old Chicago Stadium. Well he loves it and I think it sounds great. Fronts: La Scalas on Carver M1.5t Front Subs: La Scala Base Sections on Carver M1.5t Center: Heresy on Carver A-753x Surrounds: Heresy "Verticals" on Carver A-753x Rears: Cornscalas on Carver M1.5t 2 Subs (7.2):24" woofers on Carver A-760x Oppo 83 into Inegra DTC 9.8. Or Kenwood KD-77F turntable, or Asus CM 6730 computer He has two furmans, one for the amps and one for everything else. Maybe not exactly how everyone else would set it up, but it sounds good. He is happy, and I think it sounds great. When he is happy, everyone stays happy (great cook and great guy). Now I have more to have my systems live up to.
  21. Title: Emerson Lake and Palmer 40th anniversary Reunion Concert Review Pros: The audio fidelity of this disk improves is very good. Used surrounds a good amount. Main music was centered and in fronts but provided great soundstage. Cons: A song or two had weird mixing, like singing on all channels evenly. But most were more sensible Equipment and room used for review: La Scala Fronts and Base Section, Heresy Center, Heresy Surrounds, Cornscala rears, and "Big Subwoofer" thru oppo 83 and integra 9.8 with all carver amps. Rating: 4.5/5 stars
  22. So....about power conditioning. I have some power issues and I think the a AVR will be helpful. I picked up a Tripp Lite lc-1800 for next to nothing. I have a Furman PL Plus Series II (actually two of them). I wanted to use one Furman for power amps, to turn on and off. I wanted to use the other furman for the rest of the components (OPPO, pre/pro what not). I was wondering the thoughts. Should I plug both furmans into the AVR? Should I only use the AVR with everything except the amps? If thats the case, should I plug the furman into the AVR or the AVR into the furman. I have my thoughts but was just looking for some other opinions.
