  1. Although I have never been, I have a friend from whom I have purchased many vinyls who purchased them from Columbus. I believe he was going to some kind of huge swap meet there and hand selecting discs. I found this show: https://www.facebook.com/Columbus-Ohio-Record-CD-Music-Memorabilia-Show-110055812344340/photos?ref=page_internal. Not sure if that's the one...
  2. Just do one. No need for both as this only changes the gain for the LFE signal. You have a knob that can do that. The only reason to use a Y adapter is if the sub is not coming on when in auto power mode. The added signal is sometimes just enough to get that done. Kinda like a 12V trigger that isn't high enough current to switch an amp relay between an AVR and an amp.
  3. Perhaps an admin can go in and delete the posts that were causing problems and unhide the thread. Any administrators up for that?
  4. Sorry I don't know what all you have been through thus far so maybe the following won't be digested well. Please hear me out anyway. Running Auto Calibration is a good way to set a base point for all the speakers based on the room modes, capabilities and cross-speaker interaction. Once the calibration is done, you can pull up a chair and tell the folks here what you don't like about what you hear. You are overdriving your sub and this has a lot to do with the fact that you are trying to do this without measurements. The Auto Calibration gives you that and lets you adjust to your own likings. I have read your manual, and I am convinced you should try Auto Calibration and at least tell us where it sets everything including crossover points and gain adjustments.
  5. You are overdriving your sub and it is going into protect mode. You should turn the sub gain to about 11 o'clock, the Low Pass to LFE and run Auto Calibration on the AVR. The AVR will make all of your settings for you. If this still overdrives your sub, then maybe you should put your sub in a corner of the room to get corner loading gain, and re-run the Auto Calibration.
  6. I didn't even catch that. Heck that could be worth the cost of the $1500 alone. Somebody please jump on this. It's killing me. This is an absolute steal!!!
  7. Thanks everyone. I am going to swap Mark (Zeus) out. The K55'M's are selling on Ebay for about $80 plus shipping if anybody wants to turn them into $$$'s. :).
  8. I can do that. I have 5 of them actually! PM me your address.
  9. @mustang guy Cool feature, thanks. Now what was Carl's handle? @cxw5eas... Crap I can't remember it.
  10. It used to be a lot worse. I opened that can of worms a few years ago with mixed feedback:
  11. The "unread message headers" have a custom background color which is not in keeping with the "read headers" and it is a bit confusing because some of the read headers look more pronounced with a darker background. It seems to me that the background of the unread should be dark always if partially departing from the horizontal bar of the default theme style:
  12. I like the "Unread Content" hyperlink to the right beneath the tab bar. Is there any way another hyperlink can be added there which represents "My Threads"? The link "My Threads" would consist of My Activity Streams/Content I Posted In/Unread Messages/Start at New Message. The hyperlink for "My Threads" would be https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/discover/content-posted/&stream_read=unread&stream_unread_links=1 What say you?
  13. The last three words is the answer to all of the above questions. The problem is that hearing capabilities are like snowflakes. That is compounded by different music and sound and music levels. Every engineer between the mouth of the woman singing and your ear think they know what to do to make you like her voice more. You turn up the music and suddenly you don't like her voice even though she's your favorite. As it turns out, you like her voice as long as it isn't loud. Inevitably you should want what sounds good. You should also be aware that what sounds good to you may sound hideous to the person next to you. Perhaps he is standing in a node or maybe he has a headache or prefers jazz. It seems to me the "Silver Bullet" for speakers would be to reproduce the perceived "Timbre" of any input sound perfectly no matter the volume. There is nothing the speaker maker can do about all the idiots between the woman's' vocal cords and the speaker inputs.
  14. It is supposed to be here: community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/164706-driver-x/ but it is throwing Error code: 2F173/O
  15. Klipsch Klipschorn Vintage Speakers; Walnut; Excellent Working Pair
  16. That's a cool program. What is it?
  17. Thanks, but I would have to buy 3 of them to do what I want. I want my squawkers of my LCR to be the same. Currently the L and R are M series, and the center is a V series.
  18. What happened to the Klipsch Q&A forum? I thought that was a good subforum. It confused some folks because of the sort voting issues, but that is a learning curve problem. I think it should be brought back with an announcement and explanation of how it works. It was cool! The Activities tab is still very slow. I just timed 3 of the pages I use most commonly with the following results: (All Activity) https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/discover/content-posted/ 19.5 seconds (My Activity Streams/Content I posted In) https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/discover/content-posted/ 15.8 seconds (Unread Content) https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/discover/unread/ 14.3 seconds I tried the same logged out and got: (All Activity) https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/discover/ 1.2 seconds The while logged in links and times are all results from SQL queries (PHP?). 15-20 seconds is a lifetime in SQL terms.
  19. Anybody have a spare they could sell?
  20. If you have a K-55M you are willing to part with, I am your man. I will be replacing a perfectly good K-55V that is in the center of two LS with K-55M's I just want things to match up.
  21. It is safe to reproduce the FR curve exactly. Listener's tastes and even the listener's hearing capabilities vary so greatly, not to mention across the different music types. To impassion the final sound with personality to meet the subjective desires of the target demographic may not be a bad thing. Many people prefer to listen through tube amplification more than a very high SNR SS amp. As I understand it, tubes distort the original FR in a way that is pleasing to those people. What sense does that make? There has been some science done to try to figure out the answers to that very question. Having a high SN ratio undoubtedly sets the stage for the response, or perhaps the excuse, that you can't blame the speakers for the less pleasing sound. On the other hand, it does nothing to set the speakers apart from the rest. Which is best? A better question may be "which isn't the worst?" I think that is why many like you have the continued interest of "why people revert to older networks?" or "why people like tube amps more?". The artist can record, the studio can master, and the amp or AVR can boost, eq,, otherwise distort, and even perform mixing and crossover functions between speakers and subs. The speaker, however, is the point at which the final blow is landed before the sound hits the ears. Predicting what all of the manipulation and distortion is between the original track and the speaker wire for a single track is difficult enough. Predicting those things for all sound types and all listeners at all volumes and in all rooms of all shapes and sizes is impossible. Even if it could be predicted, there is not a single chance there would be one individual thing that could be done which would improve all of them. If you have accurate speakers, that can be measured with incredible accuracy. I am sure there is a short list of truly accurate speakers. Other than having accurate speakers, the only thing to set your speakers apart are cosmetics, psychology, and other snake-oil and BS props. Perhaps all this means that you are right to match the FR curve (and timbre?) of the original signal as exactly as possible. There is enough going on between the original cut and the speaker wires. Nothing else is needed. Less is more in this case...
  22. Planning a short trip to Portsmouth, ME for a couple of days with dad. I'm really looking forward to a lobster roll! We had an engagement party last night after working all week putting a new deck surface on the house.
