  1. So here is the deal. I am unhappy with the quality of my music! This is the long story. Skip this paragraph if you just want to goto the question. This all started a few months ago when I upgraded all of my a/v gear. I have not bought music in a long, long time. So I got a Led Zepplin box set. It just did not sound like I remember as a teen on cassette/vinyl. Now I knew with my a/v rec. I was having problems with getting 2.1 music. So I was thinking it was most likely the a/v rec. was more for HT than music? I just was not liking the music coming through the 82's. So I read a thread here about music loudness. I got me thinking. Anyway I read another thread about Gold CD's or SACD's so I thought what the heck and I got Pink Floyd DSTM on Gold disk and Dire Straights on SACD. I have to say that was a vast improvement from the current music I had on hard drive. So today I finally figured out the 2.1 with a/v rec. I figured out the sub has to be set on PLUS not just on ON. So this morning I have been listening to music and FINALLY I am getting music that sounds good for the most part except stuff on hard drive. So here is my dilemma. All of the music I have in digital on my computer I am thinking sucks? Back when I ripped a lot of cd's I just used the settings it was set to. I have since given away a lot of the cd's so I have maybe a third of them left to rerip. So my question is what are the best settings to set the computer to for this? What kps? MP3 or WMA? I don't want to do at the highest rate because I know there has to be a point that it is just being wasteful with the storage space. I really hate to embark on a project like this because its going to be about 300 CD's. But I hate to listen to crappy sound if I liked crappy sound I would have gone with Bose or Kraco. Any way thanks for any help. If you know any good threads already out there please link them.
  2. Try LPF on at 100 and on depth. Search the forum for bass test down load and make cd. Run bass test cd and change the phase until it sounds good.
  3. Are you just using 2.1 sound? Do you get anything out of the sub? My newer Pioneer will not do 2.1 sound. I have only been able to get sub to work with 5.1 6.1 7.1 sound out of mine with movies/tv. Music will not get the sub to turn on.
  4. Sounds like I need to look mine up for a review. I would hate for it to just drop one day.
  5. The way that guy grabs that and wings it around it looks super sturdy. I would never do that with mine. The single/single arms just seems too weak. After you get it installed you should check back with a review. That looks so much better than mine I might consider changing.
  6. Here is another thing to think about. I got the sharp 70 from costco and just got a wall mount from them that was good for up to 150 lbs I think it was. The sharp is about 100 bls. It looked similar to this one. http://flatpaneltvwallmounts.net/wp-content/uploads/flat-panel-tv-wall-mounts-3.jpg If you notice it has a single bar out to the tv with a joint in the middle. While it holds the tv fine it seems wobbly. If you give a corner a tap the tv with wobble all around for a while. So I don't think this type would be good if you will have a chance of bumping it? I do not have the feeling this would hold up very well in a small earthquake. Or kids bumping it. Now that I have this I realize I would have much rather have gotten one like this. http://www.besttvwallmounts.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/best_tv_wall_mounts.jpg With the double arms coming out it looks like it would be a lot more stable with a heavier tv. But then again with the newer TVs coming out it would not suprise me if in 3-5 years a 100" tv will be 1/4" thick and 20 lbs.
  7. Based on this you should change this to $10. Unskilled labor would not be able to make $50 per hour.
  8. If you have Directv? Then it is Directv that is your problem.
  9. I think...I just puked in my mouth X2
  10. I don't think I will ever do 3D until its common place on 4K sets. For now its good left to the theaters.
  11. I am not sure if this helps or if anybody else has noticed this. But in all of the cars I have ever had that have a stereo with simple treble/bass control It only sounds good with the treble as high as it goes. Same goes for home systems treble as high as it can go. Now with my RF-82 II's since day one I have left them flat on the treble and it has about the same sound on the highs. So if you like lots of treble I bet you would be good with them. Thats my thought of the day.
  12. Theres a NEW cherry one on Amazon but very pricey. WOW that is CHEAP! Oh I was referring to the shipping. When I said odd design earlier for some reason I was thinking of the RT-10 (I think thats what it was)?
  13. Utard--take Utah and remove the h and add rd. Plus its how I feel about drivers around here. Lots of Utard's around here.
  14. I could not agree more. I just acquired a Revel B15 and the RSW tries it's best to keep up with this musical beast almost blow for blow(except below 24Hz). If you find any used for $300.00, you better point me that way. I came to that conclusion quite a while back. Since I have owned my RSW-10d(3.5 years), I have only seen two or three for sale on the used market. Owner's are just not letting them go. Of all the the subs I have owned(Paradigm Servo 15a, Sunfire True Subwoofer Sig., Klipsch RW-10d, Revel B15), the RSW-10d is by far the most musical with the exception of the Revel, and even against it, it makes a gallant effort. Bill That makes no sense to stop making such a desirable product? Does anyone know of anybody making a DIY RSW-10d? Does the good sound have to do with its odd design? The reason for wanting this I explained in depth on the post about how Neil Young doesn't like today's sound. To summarize I purchased some music on cd that I have not listened to since on vinyl some 25 years ago. The music just did not sound right from what I remembered. I thought it was the AVR, then the speakers. Then I read a post about loudness in todays music and then got my 1st SACD and relized it is the recording on those cd's and not the AVR or speakers. The sound on the SACD blows away the sound on those other cd's I just got. And that was just running the sound on the RF-82 II's only. So now I am thinking that even a good sub will not even really help make those cd's sound any better?
  15. I grew up listening Led Zepplin on vinyl as a teen. On a crummy all in one turn table, cassette and radio unit. It has been about 25 years since I have listened to any vinyl. About a month ago I finally got around to getting a Led Zepplin box set. When I first listened to them something sounded off from what I remembered. I even thought that the cassettes sounded better from what I remembered. I just figured it was my newer AVR and how it did what ever it did with sound. That was through my RD-82II's. So I decided to dig out my 20 year old Pioneer AVR figuring it might has less processing than the newer one. And I hooked it up to my rears the RF-52 II's. And still something did not sound right. So I decided to to hook it up so the speaker A was on the 52's and the speaker B was on the one of my RW-12d's on the high input. Still it did not really sound like what I remembered as a teen. So I gave up thinking maybe this was how it really sounded. And that it was in my head. Then I read a post about loudness. And I wondered about this. So anyway to make a long story longer. I remembered someone saying something about a Dire Straits Brothers in Arms SACD sounded amazing. I said to myself a cd is a cd? Right? So a few days ago I found one on Amazon for $23 and I figured I would get it. Well it just arrived today and all I can say is WOW. This is how music should sound. I guess I have spent so many years listening to music on crappy systems I never realized the change over the years. Now I am not sure if I really want to buy any music that is not on a SACD? Now I am ruined.

    RSW-10d

Bummer for me It looks like it is really a RW-10d. You would think it wouldn't be hard to get the letters/numbers correct. Oh well. Any other suggestions on a small 8" or 10" musical sub? One that is not to hard to find?

    RSW-10d

    Is $300 a good price for a RSW-10d? How is a RSW-10d for 2.1 music?
  18. Look at the Klipsch RW-12d from newegg.com? Sometimes as low a 299.00 free shipping.
  19. Yeah.... I have four of those. They are great for the home theater but I am looking for something that is better for music.
  20. You must be referring to the snort? All I know is any company that uses talking animals/baby's I have boycotted. I just do not find it humorous in any way.
  21. **for best listening experience you must be in the matrix.
  22. Go to home depot or a commerical spinkler repair show. Check out the 12 guage underground low voltage wire for outdoor lighting.
  23. How should I report it since It does not take me in the post to use the report abuse option?
  24. So if I click on the post "Klipsch Cornwall Speakers ultra rare factory ZEBRAWOOD VENEER" it gives me a warning that it is going to send me to someplace that has malware? So I do not go. This has happened on a few other posts. Anyone else have this happen to them? What is it?
