  1. Denis indicates what to do... Here's the tech manual for the 930. HK930_sm.pdf
  2. Whooohoooo, the Nightfall series in Chattanooga looks to be pretty good this year. Free concerts in a downtown park, with a local group opening for the named acts. Karla Bonoff is next Friday evening, and that should be a real treat, and getting to see the Asylum Street Spankers in July is a "must see" event (even though it is supposed to be one of their G rated shows).
  3. Dave, I knew you would like it too. Jim's father had built a pipe organ into their house in Florida, and I know he has a fondness for them. St. Brigid, a new Catholic Church in Atlanta, has installed a Casavant Frères, but they have absolutely NO info on their website about it. Went to a wonderful concert there after they had it installed. edit: And Jim posted while I was writing this... with the same feelings I have for contemporary worship. Bruce
  4. We did a good job at killing off the passenger rail system in the U.S., but that can be built up again. Most U.S. cities also have poor bus and light rail systems.I know a lot of people I work iwth who have dramatically cut back on their driving. I have cut out at least 200 miles per week. I started taking my lunch, so I wouldn't have to drive off campus to eat (cafeteria is closed in the summer). It's 5 miles to the nearest eatery. The school where I work has also placed restictions on driving, as they must also work within a budget. This is what I found stunning on my visit to China last Fall. Many cities have outlawed gas motorcycles and scooters, so the electric ones are becoming very popular. Buses run everywhere in the larger cities (over 160 cities with over 1 million people). Buses don't seem to be restricted to class like you might find over here. They are trying to clean up their air, but are growing at such a fast rate, and the corruption is huge.
  5. Wow, JB, that must get about 8 gallons per mile.
  6. Jim, I know you will like this. I was in Tampa for my daughter's wedding, which was held at St. Andrew's Episcopal. The organ is a 1994 Fisk. Sounded GREAT! Bruce
  7. It didn't help much when most denominations decided that piano and, more recently, guitar/bass/drums, etc., would be better for worship music.
  8. I use a fresh Brillo pad most of the time...[:|] I don't even have the TT hooked up at the moment, but thanks anyway.
  9. Does this mean you need to take the LS out of your sig line? I can't see parting with my LS, but the day could come...
  10. More likely it is the amp section. Do you have another amp/ integrated amp/receiver that you could try on the Khorns? As long as it is something that is currently working on other speakers, you can check out the Khorns with it. Bruce
  11. You can tell you live in the south...I saw a lot of scooters like this while visiting my gf in Nanchang. This one has a 30 kilometer range on a single charge.
  12. Unfortunately, I remember when 500cc was considered big...[] A lot of the Chinese have electric bikes. They pull the battery pack at night and charge it for the next day.
  13. There are a lot of folks here in the Chattanooga area getting scooters. New Vespas cost too much, but there are other offerings for less money.
  14. [:|] Isn't that the truth. You can do damage very fast with a belt sander.
  15. You mean there is something wrong with the LSO versions? Ah... I didn't think so. []
  16. I don't think Crosby or Sinatra necessarily wanted to be different. They just wanted to be good.Carrie Underwood has released some wonderful songs, and like MOST solo performers, doesn't write her own material. Josh Gracin is still going to do alright over time. I am quite surprised at how sophisticated the country music audience is becoming. (Except for GW, maybe... [:|]) I am often appalled at the stupid and tacky country songs, but there are great songs in that genre. Reminds me of seeing Maura O'Connell live, and she said people would come up to her and say, "Oh, you're just a singer." A lot of these are JUST singers, but they are very good at it, taking someone else's lyrics and molding them/interpreting them and making them their own. I think you all would mostly be as rough as Simon Cowell. Bruce
  17. I have some EH 2A3s in my Moondogs, and have been really happy with them. I currently have some SED EL34s in my ST-70, and have run them a while. Seems to be a stronger mid compared to how my Moondogs sound, but there is a huge difference in the topology and price between the Moondogs and my rebuilt Dynaco. The Dynaco has mostly been replaced. My driver board for the Dynaco uses three 6922 tubes, which are currently by EH. Mark Deneen had recommended the EH 6922 for the Blueberry, as a good tube. Slightly noisy compared to the Philips, but not nearly as problematic for me. I thought I would try them in the Dynaco and they are pretty good, especially for the money.
  18. The Sonic Fire software is rather incredible, and works really well for a lot of things. Nice that you got to listen to the Eico/Heresy IIIs. And once again, congrats on dropping more pounds. You have had a lifestyle change that you should now be able to maintain. I am implessed, Glenn. Keep up the good work.
  19. My daughter drives a '96 Geo Metro with a 4 cyl. Mitsubishi engine. She has about 175k miles on it and gets about 45mpg. It has been a great car for her. She got hit by two deer once, ran into the side of the car. Sheeesh! It didn't hurt it too badly, fortunately.
  20. That is a pretty large venue. I am thinking you would need more cabinets to work well. You could run instruments through them no problem, but you owuld need multiples or the cabs.
  21. Good idea! After all, the proof is in the listening. I'm not trying to give everyone a hard time about this, but I've only heard of ONE person who didn't like this mod.
  22. The short answer is yes, but there are always qualifications. Do you currently have some that you want to use? If so, what year are they, and have they had any mods made to them? The older ones are rated at 100watts with 400 watt peaks. Since they are insanely efficient, it will partly depend on your venue AND the style of music being played through them. If they had Bob Crite's CT125 tweeters in them, for many places you probably wouldn't have much of a problem. Bob's tweeters are a drop in replacement for the LS K77 tweeters. Bruce
  23. I'm sorry, but K.I.S.S. would not be adding more electronics and sepakers. The porting is much more simple. Once I get my mods done thhis summer, I will be more than happy to arrange to haul them up to Indy so they can be tested. I am sure that canbe worked out. Even without the e.q. put in between the pre and power amp, I think it is worth it.
  24. Cutting and assembling all those pieces can be a bit daunting, Roger. Let's see... cost, placement, just more stuff. I'm a pretty simple guy.
