  1. figured these would work well for a desk pair to listen through the iPhone at work.
  2. Loved all the books...now playing catch up on the series. Surprisingly good SQ.
  3. I'm probably not going to be much help here in telling you which speakers to buy, but I will simply say that your best bet is to listen to as many of what you listed as you can. If it sounds good to you, then it doesn't matter what someone else's review states. There are a few professional reviews that I will pay attention to, but I typically discount a lot of user reviews (except most forum members). Problem with user reviews is that you have no idea what they're using for electronics, what the room is like, whether everything was properly setup, or anything else. A lot of people's idea of setup consists of taking it out of the box, sitting it where it "looks nice", plugging it in to a receiver that the guy at Best Buy/Target/Walmart said was ok, and listening. (That's the end of my rant on reviews). I think scrappy gave you good advice, start with a nice pair of towers and a subwoofer. Listen to those for a while and decide if you even need/want a center. I ran with just my CF-3s and various subs for almost 3 years before I bought the matching center. I'm very glad that I did, but I was also very happy with how my towers sounded without a center channel too. If they pop up, check some of the other Klipsch speakers out too. Epic CF3 or CF4, Forte, Heresy, etc would all be fine speakers to also try. I can't say it often enough but Mark is right...patience is key...if you wait for what you want, a nice deal will eventually fall into your lap. If I would've been more patient and listened to more speakers the first time I bought, I'd have saved myself a lot of money in "upgrades". Just my thoughts...
  4. Copper looks nice...black sounds nice...
  5. I'm not a big Michael Jackson guy, but watched this when it first aired...he knew how to put on a show.
  6. Lots of great artists so far. Also several that I may have to check out too.
  7. They're a tough find on CL most times but they seem to pop up on the bay once in a while.
  8. Best wishes...it takes a while, but they do turn up here and there. Just curious, but what will you be pairing them with? And welcome to the forum!
  9. Shipping is an issue everywhere on used speakers...it's a hassle as a seller, and you never know that the speakers will arrive in the same condition they left in. In regards to your earlier questions, if you have the ability, go out and listen to as many of the speakers as you can. If you listen to some of the older reference stuff and some synergy speakers, you can make a better decision on what is right for your space. That'll be the only true way to know what you think sounds best and the direction you want to pursue. Personally, I would try to match the front 3 without mixing lines. It's really the best way to get a seamless front soundstage. As for rears, you can probably do a little mixing and matching without a noticeable difference. Subwoofers are important parts of any system. Best advice I can give you is to get the best one you can afford. Personally, I've gone through several subs and haven't really felt that I'm getting the sound that I want from them. My next sub I'll be building myself...and hopefully, I'll finally be happy with it. Having the sub be the weak link in the system isn't where you want to be...and that's where I've been coming up lately.
  10. That's great customer service right there.
  11. Will have to check out the BBQ sauce...thanks for the link!
  12. If you will check my initial post, I listed Ozzy as my number 1 pick! I have 15 Ozzy CDs and several Black Sabaths as well. I have been listening to Michael Ozborn since he was with Black Sabath, back in the 8-track, cassette days! Roger You're right...I need to get my eyes checked and/or learn how to read better. Love Black Sabbath and also Ronnie James Dio. 8-track was a touch before my time though, but heard a lot of music on my Dad's turntable & RTR.

    Coppertop

Congrats! Looking forward to your review.
  14. Lots of great music on here. Pretty interesting that it's fairly heavy on the rock and roll side...lots more metal than I thought there'd be. One for me that I haven't seen, or maybe missed...Ozzy...can listen to Blizzard of Ozz and No More Tears albums a ton.
  15. I probably spend way too much money on music, but there's not much better than coming home from work, sitting in a comfortable chair, and listening to really good music (at a level that will piss off the neighbors!)
  16. Was hard to leave Clapton off the list...maybe another honorable mention...that'd get me to 7!
  17. I'm sure something similar has been done at some point, but as I was browsing the forum this afternoon I started thinking about this. What I'm wondering is who's your Top 5 artists/bands - the ones you keep coming back to. They don't have to be the "greatest", "best", or "most influential". They're just the artists/bands that you always want to listen to more of and you just enjoy their music. No right/wrong answers...just curious and hopefully will discover some new favorites along the way. FWIW...my Top 5 (in no particular order) - Eagles The Who Foo Fighters Metallica The Beatles Sit me down in a comfortable chair with a beverage and I could listen to any disc from any of those 5 on repeat. Honorable mention to Led Zeppelin...something about Jimmy Page playing guitar...(so yes...I already broke my own rule and gave out 6...sue me...)
  18. In reality, you are the only one that can speak to what the market is for those speakers over there. We can help you in matching up what will sound good, but I can't tell you if $400 for a pair of RF-52s is a decent deal in Poland at all. Over here, I'd say it's on the higher end, but they aren't as scarce here as they are over there. Can you put together what you're looking for on the budget that you have? It's possible, but you're going to have to be very patient and jump on the good deals as soon as they come up. It's all in how patient you are. If you wait it out, you'll find a great deal somewhere.
  19. First off, welcome to the forum! I'm with wvu80...this is a tough one due to the reasons he outlined. That said, I'll shoot out a few recommendations that hopefully are a little helpful. First, as you're finding out the center is really the most important speaker in a home theater setup. I'd recommend getting the best center that you can find/afford. From what you mentioned above, it seems that the RC-62 will be the most difficult/expensive one to find, but if you can find it and afford it, it'd be the best of the options you're looking at. If you can't, the RC-52 is also a quality speaker, but the difference between 52 & 62 is significant. I used to own the RF-62 setup and found it was a nice setup - I think it will serve what you're looking for pretty well (I had it paired with a Yamaha RX V667 and was happy with it). From a tower perspective, the RF-52s would likely be good - 62s would be a smaller step up (much less difference between the RF-52 & RF-62 than the RC52/62 difference). If you can find a way to get a front three with some of those, I think you'd have a nice start. Other older Reference line speakers that could fit the bill are the RF-25/35 with the matching center. I don't have any experience with the RF-10 series, so won't comment on those or the others that you mentioned. Subwoofer is very difficult to comment on as I have no idea what's even available over there. Generally, save up your money and buy the best sub that you can afford...same advice as for the center channel. If available, SVS, HSU, Rhythmik, and others have many good options. Good luck with your search.
  20. Agree...what I was getting at was that they are likely focusing resources on the gaming/streaming side versus supporting and updating software for the Blu-ray/media center side. More a shift of resources and priorities than a true hardware downgrade. The hardware is likely there for a Blu-ray that is better than the PS3, but they're saving money by dedicating no resources to software support/upgrades/etc. So they're shipping units that are less costly from a software side...and, as you pointed out, no longer competing with themselves on the Blu-ray player side.
  21. too bad after the recount they should have let them all back in like the original roster. would have been awesome! are you a kansas city local? Is there a way to "dislike" this post? The Twins aren't that far behind...yeah...the freaking Twins. I'd be lying if I said I thought that could happen at the start of the year...
  22. They made the decision to move away from the media center idea of the PS3 toward a more gaming specific platform. I read somewhere that for much, if not all, of the time the PS3 was their flagship that Sony lost money on every unit due to the cost of the hardware (of course making up the money in accessories and first party games). I haven't seen anything about the PS4 on it's profitability yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if they've either closed the gap or are making money on the units.
  23. RIP...used to love my old Nintendo 64. Can't count the number of hours invested in Goldeneye...
