Weird, hadn't heard of that one. What kind of account do you have set up? I thought the only people that get charged are those with artist/professional pages.
It's supposed to be on sale all day (edit) You must have been looking at the gift set: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NTPDSW/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
I didn't read the whole thread, but if you call around and look for the best deal, you can get what is in my sig for that budget, probably minus the oppo, but maybe not. Check with audioholics.
Maybe he's trying to sell the company. Maybe his business sense is better than you think and he is making successful companies and selling them for profit.
^^^Good stuff! I don't really have many apple products, just a macbook pro but that would definitely be the best use for it. Only reason I got match is because I have a pretty good sized library and I DJ, so having the higher bitrate is absolutely necessary.
Keep in mind that itunes match may not find a match for everything you have. It probably found a match a few thousand songs for me out of I don't remember how many that I wanted matched...It may go up if I ever get around to fixing all the names of my files tho...
I have used Amazon as well, but for purchasing I actually use google play now since they offer 320 mp3s. I still use itunes to shop because their layout is better, but then I just go buy it from google.
SACD is pretty awesome. I love listening to albums in surround. A decent album with great use of all speakers is The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. It's a bit out there as far as music goes, but great sound all around.
itunes match is totally worth it, especially if you have a lot of songs. If you still have all the CDs, then just re-rip them at a higher bitrate or .wav if you have the space. The $25 annual fee is something you only have to pay once, upgrade all of your songs and then cancel it if you wish. All you would have to do is upgrade 25 songs and it would pay for itself. I have also read somewhere that 256 aac is 'supposed' to be the same audio quality as 320 mp3. You will definitely notice a difference in sound quality between 128 and 256 either way though.
No, you wouldn't need a new receiver. Could something else improve the sound, yes, but not totally necessary. Does your current AVR have pre-outs? If so, you could go the amp route if you are aching for more power.
First measurement should be from the MLP because that's what gives you the distance measures. The rest of the spots are just fine tuning for your room. First time I ran Audyssey it told me my center was wired backwards...turns out it was because the guys that installed everything did the wiring backwards on that channel. It's also possible that the wires are hooked up incorrectly internally. You could always try to hook the wires up the other way and see what happens. It should also be noted that RB-41s are rear ported, so putting them in those little boxes you have them in are going to seriously diminish the sound. Is there any way you can put the center channel below the TV on that stand?
^^^I had to put mine in front due to the layout of my room and it works great. I would love to hear my setup in a proper room with proper placement tho.
