  1. interestingly enough these were the 1st klipsch thx. little ones are kt-ds's sub is kt-sw and big ones are kt-lcr all thx certified as would basically anything klipsch be
  2. several years ago i traded for my first true 500x2@8ohms solid state amplifier. At the same time i got a nice vintage12x2@8ohms tube amp. I was running 5.1 to 7.2 at the time and could run equal stereo on all channels. I ran the 500x2 ss on main fronts and ran the 12x2 tube amp on my surrounds...anyhow mains were cornwalls and surrounds were klipsch thx ultras. The 12x2 ran on the cw's or klipsch ultras kept up with the 500x2 on the opposite pr of speakers very very well. I also tried many many other setups at the time using solid state at front and tube surrounds in all modes through several pre amps including an adcom gfa 500II in stereo as well as side by side and without computer comparisons then or now tube just sounded amazing. If you have not tried a tube amp i suggest you do just to check it out. I try everything and use what works best for the best price possible these days. I currently use a few tube amps in rotation biamping mids/highs at the moment but sort of prefer new, modern tube amps with new tubes although have several vintage tube amps and nos tubes in my collection. i prefer new myself due to the maintnance and upkeep of vintage tube amps.servicing equipment is a must. new tube amps use new tubes better than old with new and vice versa...depending on upgradesof vintage equipment. My vintage amps are original no modern caps although 2 in particular were 60's factory ceo modded. What im getting at is that it is in the ears of the beholder . . . . litterally. I prefer solid state due to cost(actually tube if i could afford)although not using that old of vintage klipsch. The sensitivity of klipsch speakers is where you will find the key. khorns with a sensitivety of 105db on a 5 watt tube amp is so much more efficient than anything period. I use for my main room 2 center pro heresys with a sensitivety of 103 each both on approx 60 watts on tube amp which equals a lot in ss comparison of wattage. Tube wattage should be multiplied by approximately 3 to equal its solid state cohorts. Then using vintage or new klipsch being so efficient you get some major purity in sound. This is in somebodys avatar here in the forum...horns like tubes and woofers like solid state and its true although you can find a lot of profound fun comparisons between the 2 although this sttement is very true to the ear
  3. You cannot lose with an hk. They are an investment. I stand strong with the older models. Using optical and coaxial for digital use. I have a marantz now in my second room to test waters in other realms and its looking like im buying a very high end marantz for testing mostly yet i know i will be standing right back on top of what i have now. When somthing works its just stupid to change it. I do try everything and when i find somthing better i will change but hk is gold. They are hard to find used but when ya do its a no brainer to buy for spare or to build a collection. I have some ties with distributors as well as several busineses to buy at cost although bottom line is hk just pin the feelings we get when good sound is produced. They are great pre amps as well.
  4. I would call klipsch technical support on this one
  5. I agree with moray that the cw is more popular than a chorus. Myself where im using my chorus there is room only for chorus or i would possibly have cw's sitting there. Then again my personal favorite speaker is a chorus 2. To me the cornwall is the same as the chorus within many functions. I would not hesitate on a trade on some cw's. You will keep them forever. I can understand the bills and wife situation as can we all. We have them cause they bring us too reality. All my klipsch has been had through trade buy and selling. I will make a point i always resort to here. I view the standard of klipsch speakers by the cw 1, they are what i see, the 1's are better than the current cw's imo and many others for various reasons. It is a true monitor. No bass bin, networks to wire and very easy to place in a room xept for their size. Reason i enjoy the cw1 most and you will be able to keep forever and never get tired of...there are tons of upgrades you can undertake with them, done at home by yourself...or sent to say crites and you can install. They just sound good in stock form as well....Just be sure to test the cw's first. Turn them up 3/4 on the owners amp then listen for at least 10 seconds and if its not perfect then there is some kind of issue. I say this because the guy wants to get rid of them through a random trade and all cw's that are being got rid of is always for money, not for trade. When you own a set of cornwalls you will be set for life. If you need money you sell them they are like gold so check them out 1st. Even if they sound "not perfect" no big issue unless you hear the issue get worse. you are climbing a ladder here from forte to chorus now cw's next belles? Then again i may be wrong and they are just too big for the guys music room or he just wants somthing new. Cornwalls are keepers as are any klipsch speaker but cw's are just a bit more of a mainstay. Big but not huge and sweet upgrades and easy to work on just a fun great speaker however you get'em
  6. Please update your findings. Interesting debate on your venture. Yeah that rotel, well yeah is all i will say...it will do well with both. Now i will say auditioning both with about any slurry of music you will very likely find the forte II trump with your rotel. That rotel will push the chorus fine although i would lean forte II in this situation. Now if you were using a home avr or smaller amp then i would say chorus . . . by the way love your avatar
  7. If you can try to demo both with same cd and amp. They are both a good price but if the forte II's were in good shape offder $400. In a great world both would solve it all. On the other hand the 15" driver in any klipsch cabinet is incredible in optimum conditions. What are looking to drive each with and what conditions will they be in? The Chorus will be a bit easier to place in a sense. For optimum performance the forte2 needs a corner in my opinion. It is a tough call and i would let the money do the talking. If you need to save buy the forteII. I would offer the chorus guy $500 and if he dont, move along . . unless he meets you at $525-550 or wherever you would feel more comfotable. I have used all the above as mains at 1 time or another and would probably get the forte 2's if he would go $400 although $425 is a good price but asking for a deal might help make the decision. Many people i Know have the chorus 1 as their forever to the end of time mains in large collections a couple in particular. I also know groups that say the forte II is the best klipsch speaker ever made and their pockets are deep. It would be up to you after a demo, and i would be a bit honest to the seller/s. Your golden ears make the difference within the space and use you have for them...by the way if you still own the kg5.5's get the chorus for sure. Again in my opinion you would have a very even range between the 2 compared to kg5.5 & forte II although any of the 2 or all 3 sound good together. good luck!
  8. They are a community made product. Community seems to spray bedliner or a zolatone coating all over there stuff at times. I can tell they are a community based speaker mostly from the square horn then the ports on to the side then the coating. Community are actually pretty good. Basically ev equivalent
  9. I heard every word you said. I too have scouted through some integras mostly to use the balanced xlr outs with external amplifiers. Integras are a good product and even though i have not had one fail a freind of mine has had glitches with 2 seperate integras out of stacks. There again i will admit from a - z you name it only user error has took my hk's outta commission and has never been error of an hk unit. To me i also like adcom and find myself calling the hk units the chinese adcoms. They are good comparing power to function as well as durability. Hk just takes the cake. Even the old hk mark 25II's are strong unbeatable avr's. Klipsch plus hk equals great. kudos![]
  10. If they look like CECAA850's daughters forte II's you have a chance to get $800 my freind. I hope you serviced them. Maybe some direct solders and include the can of oil you've been using so they can look like CEC's .. .. .. Those look sweet CECAA850!! Thanks for sharing the eye candy!
  11. Thats the nail on the head in the case of the rf7 by a klipsch production standpoint! please excuse me lol[:S]..no offense please. I am just stating my experience I will say from experience of my rf7II's i prefer all identical(my screen hangs from the ceiling) and have owned most all configurations xept the thx2 ultra mix although i have heard them in a similar room as my own & they are very well sound matching to theirselves
  12. I understand and agree. I do prefer using 5 identical speakers all the way around. The system that tied me too klipsch was 5.1 using 5 kg.5;s anda jbl10 on an avr mark25II. Still to this day i keep this same system in a box in the closet xept for the jbl10. And yes i did re buy the system. My original avr25 was hit by lightening at the same time 1 week after i bought a toshiba 41 in scfreen 15yrs ago then my toshiba dual disc with 5 free dvds for 500. Anyhow the hkavr25's infered remote sensor burned out and my 1 week old 41" toshiba went green on both sides. Ya know i unplugged it for 3 days and plugged back in and was fine, could just barely tell. that tv lasted til 5 yrs ago i gave to the neighbors and still works to this day, just slight green in top left hand corner. So to the original posters content here i refrane on my prior statement and would like to say 5/7/9.1 ss etc . . .all speakers being same size yeild best results with reference series as well as 5 ls's, cw's, kh's or heck rb41's...in my opinion. same speakers equal same projection of sound rubs the silk in our ears better than just buy and mount on the wall. To use different speakers can take years to pull the meters to the green section. I don't use RS 62's and the RS 35 are great for surrounds. Running them as small I don't think a larger surround would be any better. I have never maxed out the surrounds looking at my meters on the amps that I have had on them. Extra power handling capacity that is not used or needed is just extra with no benefit. Even if I had the RS 62's I would run them as small like the rest of my system. Just one man's opinion. Put the extra money for a good sub, for more bang for you bucks. Also look at some passive subs like Chase or JTR for a lot of performance for the buck.
  13. its always cool when the dude on the forum with the freakyest avatar answers with great places for service. now i gotta get outta here that dude looks pist .. .. .. z o o o o o m .. .. ..[+o(]
  14. I see scrappy has an svs and his is top of the line if im not mistaken but even down a few notches svs are killer. Id have to suggest svs as well, just for the fact they are what everybody in the world are buying right now, this usually means they are good lol. i have read reviews but have not heard one that i know of for sure although im almost certain i had and did not know . . . . with svs reputation atm you cant go wrong
  15. I could not agree with scrappydue more. I have the jl fathom 10 and iv heard the all jl's and they are impressive but worth more to sell/trade than keep. Look at the svs subs or paradigm if you want bang for buck. velodyne have some killer subs as well. There is money well spent in subs but not with jl unless bought used and cheap believe me. I just bought a cerwin vega lw12 cause iv never owned cerwin vega and for about 200 used its a great sub. Im considering buying a second for a temporary project i have going on. They adjust very well, very tunable and can litterally knock stuff off the walls with just 1 i could not believe it for 250 shipped, used
  16. $300's the price i like buying heresys at. Were always on vacation but havnt been south of tennessee in a while. Heading to jefferson city mo in 6 weeks. I could do a nice swoop down through there if they are still for sale
  17. rf7's all the way around if possible. always stick with reference do not mix the thx in there. it will sound ok but not optimum. at least the 1 in the center is a perfect front soundstage for any media period. Then reference surrounds for sure. you need large as possible reference surrounds to match your large rf7 main fronts. klipsch reference sound supreme 10 out of 10 with klipsch reference. klipsch reference are made for sound matching as are klipsch thx are made to match each other. The larger the reference surrounds you go the better the match you will have in your surrounds. although small reference wont kill it just may not be as optimum. will work fine though . . .
  18. []sorry my keyboards messed up like me
  19. [^o)]sorry my computer needs smacked and myself apparently
  20. get 8 identical monoblock amps, tube if possible just make them identical on a simple lightweight 7.1 processor=heaven above or a dream idk has fresh silk lining feel in it and is unreal. probably a dream . . once its done hooked up is when one sees/hears the seperation in power . . . its basically in the lines of powered monitors. im sure you'v been there. well multiply this and and have the answer to the desired approach of seperate blocks
  21. I bought them bro. quit hating! hater. Im gonna put them on my pro zeniths that sound good bro so get with it or get out. you guys a bit shy. need to take tacky craft class yo whats up. it aint weird you are. just kidding LOL haha whaaaat the hell lol. couple years from now this will cross your mind and youll laugh or we'll all be looking up klipsch labels before anything else. its gotta be people upping their feedback? lol hahahahaah ? lolhahah
  22. people get rediculous and over offer. just need to let the guy sell, hell he just wants them out of his hair. for a normal guy 200lb speakers are a pain in the arse. its cool for someone to buy and use or to make money for mortgage or food butt greedy money fuckles suck
