Have you thought about flipping your surrounds upside down to get the tweeters closer to your head? I would go all the way to 11.1! I was at 9.1 but I just sold all my speakers and, my new setup is only 5.0 (till my sub comes in). I will slowly be moving to 11.1.

I second all that. plus+++++++ I have lost count of the number of friends of mine who bought Heresy over the last 37 years after hearing my LaScala. They happily choose the babies of the Klipsch range. Place Heresy into corners and they are superior to a very many speakers of considerably larger dimension. My Dad had a stroke and to simplify things for Mum I removed my Marantz 1200B from their system and connected the Heresy to the speaker terminals on their TV @ 2 watts per channel. Along with the Blue Ray, I connected the CD, cassette deck, VCR directly to the TV and the Heresy make it all possible. I'm a Jub Owner and agree Here is a pic of a new 140db subwoofer during construction under a stage floor, that's in a system we finished last Thursday. While to some of my friends I'm a self confessed propeller head, I would have no reservation in having only a pair of any Heresy as my main system if that's what was most appropriate for my circumstances. Wow... So is the speaker in the black box and the floor is a horn? How much power does it take to hit 140db and at what frequency? tia, Ron

You just run one? I was thinking of building a hornloaded sub but then I won the Triax. I hope the Triax will be enough. If not could I still build one and use the Triax too?

You're welcome. You took the same path to a 5.1 setup as I did. That's why I can provide you with these details. If they are going to be mounted against the ceiling, then yes, upside down is a better way to orientate them. In the case of the HIP, boundary loading only helps below ~250Hz...so it's not necessarily placing them to get the SPL up any higher. It's more a matter of maintaining what performance they already have. Keeping them near a wall or ceiling is big assist in that regard. Boundary loading applies to all speakers below their baffle-step frequency, La Scala included. Thanks again.... What are you using for a sub?

So the LS2 has a removable back? If so it would make it very easy to make a new cabinet! I like the sealed upper horn area and banana plugs.

Does the 3-6db wall/corner rule also go for the LaScalas?

I now have a pair of Heresy Industrial HIP speakers for my surround speakers... Until my Triax comes in I will be sub less with 3 LaScalas in front and the Heresy Industrials in the rear. When I looked them up I had saw that Klipsch had them listed @101db but when I looked at the back it says they are 92db. Does anyone know what the efficiency really is? These appear to be even lower efficiency than the standard Heresy and they are ported.

Does the receiver even power up anymore? When I have had problems with a receiver... Sometimes I have just found to leave it unplugged overnight to make sure all the circuits have completely drained. I know it is most likely overkill but it has worked when leaving it unplugged for a short period of time has not. Double check to make sure the receiver didn't blow the fuse again or possibly have another fuse somewhere that has also blown. I hope this helps you. The fuse is exactly the same type and value... Correct?

Leave it unplugged overnight and then try your old speakers. I am thinking you might have a defective speaker or speakers that caused the amp to short and die.... Strange thing is I would have thought the receiver would have had a fuse to protect itself.

Are you using JUST the top terminals or JUST the bottom terminals on the speakers with the jumper plates in tact? Yes, and everything is connected perfectly. 12 gauge wire this time....the receiver does the same thing with speakers disconnected. I think I blew it up....the receiver did not seem to drive these all that well....no where near what the KSF-10.5 sounded like......so Increased the volume until they started to drive and the receiver went on me.... When you say speakers disconnected... Do you mean at the receiver end? If so you definitely have a problem with the receiver imo. Yea at the receiver end...I know I sound like 1/2 an idiot....or a full one actually but I've been doing this stuff for years and never came across this. The receiver is toast. Any idea why it took so much to get the speakers up to a decent volume....enough volume to POP the receiver? I think i remember seeing around "50" volume wise on the sony before they popped....speakers were not all that loud...drivers were hardly moving No you don't sound like an idiot. There is just a process of elimination and everyone is just trying to throw out ideas as to what the problem is. Do you have any other speakers you could hookup just to test? I am wondering if there is a short in the new speakers. I wouldn't think the Sony would have any problem driving the speakers unless something just failed.

Are the jumper plates installed correctly? If the jumper plates were jumping the left and right posts instead of the top and bottom you would definitely have a short.

By the "sub", I am assuming that you mean the Khorn Bass Bin Woofer?.......If so, the answer is no. I have the leads from the Woofer hooked directly to the Output of the Bass Amplifier. The Active Crossover is only sending the Lower Frequencies to the Bass Amplifier. Got it... I missed the active crossover bit.

Don't you still have to have a crossover on the sub? Wouldn't the amp be sending full bandwidth to the sub instead of a select frequency range?

Check your speaker wires.... You might have a short.

I have them toed in. The room is not that big and there is furniture blocking the bass box but the mids and highs are clear of any obstructions.

Right now Audyssey is cutting my LaScalas by 6db and adding 4db to my other speakers. I was looking at the graph and it is pumping up the tweeters buy almost 10db above flat. I just hope it doesn't hurt the tweeters since it is trying to pump up an area that the tweeter is not supposed to go to.

Yes, but if you notice they did build them for the horizontal area and for splitting the vertical right in front of the horn. Maybe the other high end horns just do it for aesthetics.

I have seen some high end horns that were very careful to actually round the entire horn... It was just a thought. If people have tried it and it didn't make a difference then maybe that is why Klipsch never did it.

I am supposed to pickup a pair of the Heresy HIPs Thursday.... Hopefully they will be a good match for the LaScalas.

I have always wondered why they didn't put a angled piece on the sides (rear of each side) to smooth the horn instead of having it do a 90....

I sit 12' away from a 134" 16x9 screen. When I build my Garage HT... I will be going for a 2.35 AT screen 150-170".

I can't wait to get these and hook them up to my setup... 5.0 with LaScalas.

Are the Fortes necessary or would the Heresy do just as well for surrounds?
