  1. I think that is the reason... If it was a loose part I think it would keep buzzing no matter what. It must be the resonant frequency of the cabinet. Do you know what frequency is it buzzing at?
  2. If anyone has a set of templates for the braces I could use some too. If you have a paper template and can scan it would be easy to get to anyone. If you don't have a scanner, and you send me a template, I will scan it, and send you a copy of the scan back so you can give it to whoever you like.
  3. It would have cost another $1500. Plus i have been told that they are closer than you would think. The 402 is better and I would have got them if my wallet was bigger. I have a small toy fund that I build over time by putting some money away everytime I get paid. I use that to buy my toys. I only buy what I can pay cash for and only use money from that. After buying these its bone dry . I should have clarified... I meant for me with my JBL 2360A horns.
  4. I would have went with the 402 if I could have just bought the horn or the horn, and driver without the networks.
  5. For my La Scalas... I went with some 3/4" birch plywood and I had it cut a little bigger than the La Scalas. I then glued and screwed it to the La Scalas. I then used a router with a flush cut bit on it to make them all match up I finished with some 1x3s to trim out the front.. I then got some Maple 1/4" finished plywood to glue over the 3/4" plywood, and used the router to trim it out again. I did the the 3/4" on the sides, top, bottom, and rear. The 1/4" I am only doing on the top, and sides. The 1/4" finished Maple that I purchased is veneered MDF so the ends don't look like plywood. For me this works because I am making the front edge black so I don't get the reflections from the projector. I still have not completed one yet, but you can easily do a pair in a weekend yourself if you have the router, clamps and glue.
  6. Probably won't be happening. Well that might help change my mind. I do know what you mean. Looking at photos online I've never really been a fan of the older style of the heritage but they definitely have a very nice appeal to them....just a much different style than the reference with their paper woofers and wide "box" shape. Check out the Recommended Sub for LaScala Trio thread. In a nutshell.....I haven't decided. I'm pretty sure I want to build a Horn Sub....something along the lines of a TubaHT, Danley DTS10 or DTS20. My biggest problem is my room is 19' deep. Currently the false wall extends 26.5" from the front wall and the front of my theater seats are 91" from the front of the false wall. In order to accommodate a horn sub and the LaScalas, the new cabinet will need to be close to 48" deep which would put the new cabinet 69.5" from the front row seating. 6' is not a lot of room from my front row to the false wall. We can recess the screen some but I'm still wondering if that's just going to cramp up the room too much. Any thoughts? make your woofer go under the La Scalas and put one under your seating... Or you could put one on each side wall.
  7. I wonder how a HIP would sound with these replacing the mids and tweets....
  8. I like the ports showing underneath....kinda like the toes of a monster waiting in hiding. I had two svs subs between the speakers. So it was 6 more ports that run all the way across the wall lol. It looks better with the matching 3. So i tucked the subs behind them. What kind of Lumens are you getting out of the JVC? I have always liked JVC but I can't afford one for the new screen size as it would be very expensive. I know your black levels are much better than my BenQ but for only $750, I couldn't pass up the deal and my Epson 1080 was pretty old and ready for another bulb (went through one bulb per year). Good thing I got the BenQ because we are at almost 4000 hours on it and it is only 9 months old! I would be on my second bulb of the year with the Epson. JVC are not light cannons. And won't win to many max lumens battles. But their ridiculous contrast makes filling a monster screen a breeze. I think they are around 700-800 in best pic mode (best pq). Max out put is 1300 I think. Do you think it would be bright enough for a 14' wide scope screen in a light controlled HT? Easy I might have to check one out then!

  11. What size is your screen right now? (sorry if I missed it) Our current screen is a 16x9 134" Jamestown screen.
  12. I am interested if the price is right and you are close.
  13. You either zoom in to remove the bars or you get a anamorphic lense on a slide that will stretch the image. The movies you see that have the bars are the ones that you can do this to. Yes, How do you like the ben 1070? I did a lot of reading on that model. Seems like an amazing value. This is my first DLP projector and I like it... It is very bright and crystal clear. The only downside is the fan is noisier than I would like and the occasional rainbows. We will see how it does when we move to the 14' wide screen in the HT in the next month or two.
  14. This is most likely overkill, but it will switch digital audio or analog audio and video.... I used one for component video and digital audio for years. They were several thousand new but they are dirt cheap now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AutoPatch-Precis-Series-PR-0804-Matrix-Switcher-/261407528730?pt=US_Audio_Video_Transmitters&hash=item3cdd1a571a

  16. It looks bigger than that!
  17. Not quite, I have no plans to sell my DeanG RF-7ii or my RF-7's. Enjoying the qualities of both the Reference and Heritage. I couldn't. Some Belle's are gorgeous....those are definitely do not fit my taste due to finish and type of grill cloth. You guys are on a serious mission aren't you. You are now residing at Hotel Klipsch.... You can check out but you can never leave.
  18. But it's not just scalas, it's Youthman he is a RF to Heritage convert. 1 down, and how many more to bring to the dark side....
  19. So how are the La Scalas settling in with you now? You should have a very good idea of what they are like by now.
  20. I think it is a good idea if you can... Much better to be working at a job you love then to be stressed out doing a job for the sake of making money.
  21. You're right... Come on everyone start posting, it should be to 50 pages by now.
  22. I found a pair of HIPs locally, so I won't be needing any more unless the deal falls through.
  23. I have heard of using a steel wool, and lemon juice mix for aging wood too.
  24. I hadn't heard anything... I just changed my password.
