  1. You can shorten the one side of my Quarter Pie by a foot or so and you won't give up too much as long as you keep them in corners., . This move the response from about 52 Hz. up to about 60 Hz, IOW about 8 hz. There's a guy in Australia that asked me about that and is building his that way. They are super easy to build and put out a ton of quality bass, like an MWMs. The K33 actually gets you the most bass out of Quarter Pie, so the driver has plenty of oomf you are looking for. It will also get you to 400 Hz. but it will be down about 4 db from the oommmf part. But all Klipsch Horns do that anyhow with a K-33, especially the LaScala and Khorn. See the curves here: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/148054-quarter-pie-bass-horn-response-how2build-and-hornresp/page-1 So it is 4' x 3'?
  2. I won't complain if we do. This guy used a 12v Windshield Wiper Motor Strange that he can make an automized masking system but he has to get up and walk to the light switch and turn the lights off... I would have made the lights automatic first.
  3. One thing I have noticed already is there is more clarity and detail in the LaScalas than in the RF-83's. I'm assuming this has much to do with the huge midrange horn. So far, I'm not too impressed with the bass response of the LaScalas and if I raise them off the floor just a tad, it will be even less. I like what I'm reading about the Danley's but I'm thinking it will be well above what I want to spend for a sub. I'll likely have to design and build my own horn loaded sub to save some cash. I picked up 2 Danley DTS 10s shipped to me for $1700... Not too bad of a price IMO. .
  4. The seller is the same one I bought my others from... If I had the cash I would grab all 3 he has for sale right now and be done with drivers.
  5. I didn't know they make a 6 ohm , I could only find info on the 8 and 16 ohm. A 8 ohm driver might measure 6 ohm. I think the 6 ohm ones are the older ones... Not sure but I have 2 of them so far. I need the 6 ohm ones because they will sound better with my "T" chip amps which will be driving the horns. Here is one... http://www.ebay.com/itm/ELECTRO-VOICE-EV-DH1A-HF-COMPRESSION-DRIVER-8OHM-TESTED-WORKING-LC-TUBE-621/301168940965?_trksid=p2045573.c100034.m2102&_trkparms=aid%3D555012%26algo%3DPW.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D22592%26meid%3D6791045742793761267%26pid%3D100034%26prg%3D9790%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D251518501939
  6. I would still go max screen size and do the wall... You never know when a projector will come up in the future that will fit just right in your plans and be able to use the max your screen is capable of. I am at 134" now 16x9, my previous screen was 106" 16x9, and before that 120" 4x3. My next one will be 14' -18' wide by 7-8' tall and we will mask it down from there... I am still debating about going the 18' but the wall support beams are at the 14' mark and we would have to make new support beams and attach them to the side walls and ceiling. If I can make it work I will go all the way. The other issue is my equipment rack will be in the left hand corner in front of the screen about 3' off of the floor, so it will be difficult to get at the wires with a screen right behind it. I do not want to have to look for another screen down the road, so this is the final screen.
  7. You need to give those a try and let me know what you think, however I will warn you if you set up your system you never get your room done as you will spend too much sitting around listening to music like me. At those prices I may purchase one my self and give it a try. My only problem is I need to find the 6 ohm ones which are a little harder to find. Hopefully next month I will have some more cash to buy 3 more of the drivers, and maybe 3 more JBL horns too. I have a goal of having the theater up and running by July (just waiting on the cash to get it done now). Up and running doesn't mean that the room will be tuned though, but hopefully the speakers will be tuned with the minidsps as active crossovers.
  8. I sold my Faital drivers, and I am going all EVDH1A drivers for my 2360 horns, and EV horns.... I might even look for more JBL horns and just run JBL horns with EV drivers if I like the sound of them over the EV horns.
  9. I would still go with a full width screen wall, and then see how big you want the picture, and mask down to it. The Seymour AT screen is $21.95 a linear foot for the XD DIY screen... So it won't be that much more to go the whole wall for you, and then you are done looking for a screen... Plus you have a 4K screen!
  10. We don't have cable and the only "TV" we watch is when my kids watch "The Voice" and we aren't looking for bluray type quality. If your cable box can send a 1080p image, yes, it would look great on a projection setup. Problem is you only get around 3000 hrs on a projector bulb and if you watch a lot of TV, a $300 replacement bulb can get expensive. Yes, I'm sure way down the road when 4k is a bit older technology and prices come down and there is adequate 4k content, sure, I'll likely upgrade. That is why I went with the BenQ W1070... 6000 hours on a bulb. I am hoping that the LED projectors will get brighter for my next projector purchase.
  11. The projector he has might not need to be upgraded. Projectors are good for everyday TV use also... I use ours for internet, tv, and movies.
  12. Am I crazy for even considering upgrading? I know you can always upgrade but I guess I struggle with at what point do I become content with what I have. I'm not dissatisfied with any of the HT. I just realize it can be better and I probably will have very little if any cost in it after I sell my RF-83, RC-64 and my 103" screen. Guess I'm just looking for reasons why I should upgrade (probably have no problem getting help here). But I also need help with things like screen size, will my current projector be bright enough for a 130" screen? Then there is design. Awhile back, when I was considering upgrading my screen, wakejunkie drew up some concepts in Google Sketchup. I'm thinking this design would work well, reduce the screen 130" and bring the screen out to accomodate the 3 LaScalas. I would go with a 150" AT screen and then see how big you like the image, and mask with black AT material to the desired screen size. The reason is by going with the biggest size possible you will never regret not going big enough, and you can always make new masking panels for a larger screen. If you go 130" now and a year from now you want to go larger due to brighter projectors or any other reason, you would have to rip down the old screen and start over... In my opinion it is more cost effective to just go big first (we are going 14' wide on our screen and masking down to whatever our BenQ W1070 can handle until a brighter projector is available with 2.40 aspect capability).
  13. I remember having a 486 with 32MB of ram and being offered enough money to buy another computer for just the RAM when the plant in Japan burned down.
  14. I can still remember when it was $50 for 1 MB of ram... What a deal ram is now.
  15. Never thought about using it for that... Good question.
  16. I looked at the receipt and they were 91 cents each... We used them and they work fine. The only difference was they don't appear to have the mass and of course they are not fire rated, but for over $4 difference in price they are a steal IMO.
  17. This is one of the things to build on my to do list. I was going to build a HTPC, but my ps3 and receiver do a pretty good job covering those basic that I want out of one. But between needing a shed, and a new lap top, building a media server will be put on hold tell either winter or the first of next year. So for now its keeping my external hard drive clean of unwanted junk. The unraid is pretty nice as you can use whatever HDDs you have laying around. I have a Atom CPU, but you can use any old PC you might have laying around for the build. The only thing is your Parity HDD must be at least as big as your largest HDD, other than that you can have any miox off HDD sizes you want.
  18. I just store all my movies and music on my UnRaid NAS... If a drive fails I just replace the drive and let it repair it.
  19. Youthman needs to check these out!
  20. double post... I wish we could delete our double posts.
  21. You would be under the influence... Just like if you were drinking, and they would give you a ticket or haul you off to jail I imagine. Not if its legal and/or prescribed..if i take my fancy aspirin in front of a cop at the stoplight here i dont get a ticket Alcohol is legal, but if you're driving "under the influence" of liquor or a prescription, that is when it becomes illegal to be impaired... Exactly! You would be under the influence... Just like if you were drinking, and they would give you a ticket or haul you off to jail I imagine. Not if its legal and/or prescribed..if i take my fancy aspirin in front of a cop at the stoplight here i dont get a ticket What do you think a police officer would do if you took prescription Morphine in front of him, and then a few minutes later got in your car to drive away... He would arrest you for driving under the influence. Aspirin is not the same as prescription meds which get you high as a side effect.

  23. When I heard the demo it was hooked up to a home theater setup running 2 channels.
