  1. They checked to be okay. They first requested Clint Black - Like the Rain It really is a good tune to show off the dynamics of speakers. Very clean, his voice is unique, bass is deep.....
  2. It was a bad day in someone's paradise. I've wondered how many Belle or Khorn or... that fire or the landfills claim each year. I hope to save them.
  3. It doesnt take much heat to cause the glue to melt and the veneer to d-laminate. I just hated to not try to save them.
  4. I'm less worried about the heat than something that isn't so obvious....such as the acidic soot .
  5. I hope it was a deal. Seeing them go for $500 makes me second guess what I'm doing.
  6. Thanks Lars. I'm not worried about the bass speakers. It doesn't look like anything is damaged except the cabinets.
  7. I drove to buy At least you didn't go there for nothing, no big deal, just as I told him, someone will offer him more and he will back out. He said his word was good. 1st time I ever heard that. His brother decided he wanted them, he could have come up with a better lie than that Mark I drove to buy some rescue speakers today. The first thing the guy was hyping them up like they were gold. Then one of his friends shows up and say that he needs some speakers and if he only knew..... I offered back out an let him have the 'deal' if he wanted them..
  8. This receiver sold today off of my ad on Craigslist to someone who lives ~100 miles away (I did 30 +/- miles to help). On the way home, I contacted the guy I bought the receiver from in 2011 to tell him that I let it go to a new home + I hadn't talked with him for over a year. Ironically, he was going to call me to offer some LaScala that need a little TLC that he just happened score yesterday. Funny how some things time out....to where I don't even get home with the money before I spend it elsewhere. Link to LaScala
  9. So I had someone contact me about some LaScala that needed rescued. Seems that some curtains caught fire and fell on the cabinets. Most of the black on the top is from the curtains, but the cabinets's veneer did start to burn too. All of the insulation on the wires on the xover and on the speaker wire doesn't show any sign of heat. They're still flexible, no melted areas or cracking so I bought them. My question(s): Do you think they're worth salvaging, and if so, is there something that I should do / look for before trying them? Thanks in advance for your opinion and advice.
  10. Now I'm worried that Cornwalls will explode in a rear end collision
  11. Sold $510.. I couldn't believe that they were at ~200 for so long.
  12. Oh no!! You never let men know. This is why I hate shipping anything and will, as I did in this case, let UPS do the packing. My RC64 arrived damaged and they tried to blame the person who shipped it. I hope you collected insurance from UPS. PM you my phone number. Call me when you can.
  13. Boy, it just goes to show you when it comes to the addictive part of this hobby, you CAN control it, as long as you have willpower! ...unless you can score some Cornwalls. I'm trying I had to pass on some KG 5.5 for 200 the other day. I never have had the 5.5 before and wanted to check them out. I have sellers remorse from selling the CF3 and CF4, but I wasn't using them.
  14. WOW, the prices sure have dropped.
  15. For you, or just generically speaking? They're not for me. I picked up some H2 a month ago and am 'trying' to not buy anything right now....unless I can score some Cornwall.
  16. I don't have space to pull them off of the wall. Still will check out the Quartet some day.
  17. Welcome to the forum. I've not heard that amp, but it looks like it's well built. I like the sound of the older Solid State receivers and amps.
  18. babadono, are yours threaded or do they have through holes with no threads?
