I'm so anal I just looked it up and I see all sorts of contradictory explanations. According to the American Heritage Dictionary both are acceptable.

I always thought that it referred to the person telling the lie's face. Like not only is this person telling a lie but he/she's doing it with a bold look on his/her face. I still don't get how anything can be bald-faced.

Ok this is the second time in two days that I've seen someone referred to as a "bald faced liar". Have I been wrong my entire life? I've always thought the term of endearment was "BOLD faced liar". How can your face be bald? Unless you have a severe case of alopecia.

I work for the company that sets all of the video sections for Wal-Mart and can vouch that Once Upon is $5 at some of the stores and will now be located not only in some $5 dump bins but also in their "inline" sections. That's just their A-Z main library of older titles. Usually right after New Releases. One of my favorite little-known westerns is the offbeat Johnny Guitar. Joan Crawford, Sterling Hayden, Mercedes McAmbridge & Ernest Borgine...the good guys wear black...the main antagonist and protagonist are both female...not your typical western by a long shot.

I use both. I just run my home theater reciever's pre-amp out to an input on my tube pre. i also run the analog outputs of my dvd player to another set of inputs. This way I can use my tubes for tv and dvd's. I find that if I leave my preamp volume at 12 o'clock then the volume is at the correct setting when I turn my reciever up.

Even though I'm into fine beer I actually WAS into Olde E around '95 or so. The secret(I kid you not) is to take the top off and let it sit for a day. Flat and at room temperature tames the beast.

I only know of some recording engineers who use these Bagends. One guy does a lot of work with sub 20hz material and he swears by them. I only posted their most extreme sub but I see you poked around and have seen some of their other models. They're pretty highly regarded for both their live pa applications and for LFE monitoring in studios.

That Three Philosophers Lambic is tasty. I'm popping open a Lindeman's Apple Lambic right now. This is the only flavor Lambic by them I haven't tried. Westmalle Tripel Trappist up after that. Then a 40 of Olde E.

Any comments on the Bassault-R by Bagend? FLAT to 18hz, 104db sensitivity with 1watt at 45hz, Four 21" drivers with 4 1/2" voice coils, 310 lbs, 3200 continuous watts, usuable bass down to 8hz & I believe a $6500 or so price tag.

Spongeworthy I've been trying this thing forever man but most here are content with their Steve Miller and Supertramp. I had this album on my top list for 2007 as well as a few other music threads. I think I even included direct links to music clips and all. Even the "better known band" Built To Spill is simply too underground for all but the most adventurous here. I've ranted and raved about Built To Spill for YEARS here and I'm sure no one has ever even bothered to listen to much less buy anything from them. They just don't know what they're missing. I'll suggest Keep It Like A Secret by Built To Spill and In The Aeroplane Over The Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel.

I agree that the term "punk" is often used as a very broad and general term. I also agree that the Sex Pistols and The Ramones should be credited with laying down the foundation of the punk "sound". But to me Television is a punk band even though they sound nothing like the Pistols or most British punk. Unless you're talking to someone who's really in the know and you describe Television as "you know...one of those New York/CBGB's art-punk bands" they'll have no idea what you mean. It's just easier to call them a punk band with guitar solos :-) I think that Costello, Joe Jackson and the Talking Heads etc. get the punk tag more for their artistic ethics and philosophies than their sound and I can deal with that. If I were going to make a definitive punk comp for someone though I wouldn't include them.

oldbuckster that's Generation X. XTC was/is? Andy Partridge's band that sound nothing like "traditional" punk. XTC had a pretty big radio/alternative hit in the 80's titled Dear God that's been in movies and everything. Andy is very well respected as a top notch lyricist and would be more for Beatles/power-pop fans. They did a side band called The Dukes Of Stratosphear that is a throwback to the psych/garage sound of the mid to late 60's that is fantastic and is highly recommended. I'm telling you guys that the Rhino box set titled No Thanks! The '70's Punk Rebellion is an absolute must if you're interested in a crash course in this music. It is very varied and not just filled with Sex Pistols clones.

If you hang out here plan on starting to spend all your spare cash on the never-ending upgrade path. :-)
