  1. Welcome, Shaun, Will be interested in the responses to your question. I have KLF-30s for fronts, and 20s for surrounds. At first, I had the KV-4 center (left over from a previous configuration). I thought it sounded very good. But then, I am not an "expert". Read several times that the KLF-C7 was the center intended for the KLFs, so when I had the opportunity, I acted quickly to get the C7. Conclusion: I think that I hear some better sound from the C7 over the KV-4. But I could not swear how much. 5%? 10%? 20%? Don't know. Can't even define what is "better" that I hear. Am sure that those who have a) more knowledge and a better, more informed ear and understanding will be able to add insight. I welcome it. I would like to know better what I am hearing!
  2. Congratulations, Timdog!!! Some very good things happen in St. Louis.
  3. May I interject a question--don't mean to hijack this thread. A number of previous comments had discussed one or more of the (Harmony) remote controls in "the big heist" of goodies. Obviously, a number of posters know about remotes. My issue/question is this: as I recently bought a Yamaha RX-Z9 receiver, it was missing the original RAV-229 remote. The seller had ordered a "replacement" remote, the RAV-352, brand new. However, in checking w/ Yamaha Support, they say that the remotes are specific to each receiver, and that I am not able to get the codes to make the 352 function in the place of the original remote, the 229. Does anyone know if a truly "smart" Harmony or some other remote might be able to tackle this problem for me? Any other ideas? Thanks!
  4. Didn't know that. Amazing what you learn when you ask questions.
  5. japosey, will try that in the morning, too. It may be that I can piece something together that sounds good. Maybe not. Obviously, is "easier" to simply junk the Pioneer and go with another used receiver--until it develops its own problem, in a week, or 5 years from now.
  6. Jim, What you are suggesting makes a lot of sense. Am I likely to find a Yamaha like you mention (if I am patient)? What do you think of the Sonys? My bro-in-law just completed a very expensive HT room, and has a Sony 1050 as the receiver driving everything. Am not sure about that. I get the impression they are middle weights in a heavy weight division? I know, more than one question . . . .
  7. Michael and Jim--good ideas. Thanks, and will do.
  8. Jim, thanks for the input. But as I am not as checked out in this as many others, what do you mean by ? What I would like to accomplish on Zone 2 is my DirecTV and BR player to have output either to a sound bar or L/R speakers, Nothing more exotic than that. But, I do not know how.
  9. Hoping more answers come in re the Pioneer Elite SC-35 bad channel issue!
  10. Hey, mxr, thank you for your kind offer. Unfortunately, I do not think it will. I did have a response from a seemingly competent seller on Ebay who said that it would have to be special-ordered for $75 + shipping, as the production of that model (receiver) was limited. Would love to find something Stateside!
  11. Might anyone have a setup mic that works properly for a Yamaha RX-Z9 receiver I just bought? If so, will you please let me know what you would like for it--either to buy (preferably), or to rent from you. Thanks!
  12. Did just purchase the Yamaha RX-Z9 receiver yesterday that was on CL here in St. Louis. I guess it will be coming down into my office (though, I really wish I had the knowledge, the setup mic, and the physical energy to put it in the place of my Pioneer SC-35 upstairs and see what I thought--is 66lbs, though, and not something that one does "lightly"). If the Zone 2 idea is the likely best option for the Pioneer VSX-80TXV, I will move it upstairs into my bedroom where I probably would be happy enough with the L/R setup and, possibly, a center--if I can do that in a Zone 2. Don't really know.
  13. (Long) Past the warranty period. Think I bought it about 5 years ago, as a refurbished unit. Paid about $225-$230. Actually, is a good receiver, and even has HDMI inputs!
  14. Have a Pioneer VSX-80TXV receiver, which I use under very modest conditions in my downstairs home office. So, no "reference level" stuff. The problem: the right front channel seems to have gone out, meaning that I get no sound from the speaker assigned to it. I have tested the speaker and connections. The speaker/connections are not the problem. Either this occurred upon turning the receiver on, or during play and it took a while for me to notice it. Regardless, no sound from it. So, what are the thoughts here? Any hope for an "easy" fix or an inexpensive repair? If neither of the above is likely, might I use its Zone 2 capability instead? I mean, I only use the L & R channels now in this relatively small area (11 x 13). If Zone 2 would be the necessary or preferred workaround, how should I set my up DirecTV and DVD player so that their output is through my Klipsch speakers? Hope I have been clear, and I appreciate the likely responses very much.
  15. I bought mine (30s) for $350--but, truly, I would not call them in :mint" or "near-mint" condition. But who cares? They look quite fine, and sound superb!!!
  16. Good heavens!!! I have them (30s--and 20s and 10s), and love them!
  17. Excellent! Am happy for you, Michael. Interesting, while it was not your motivation, that your kindness earlier with the proceeds of your equipment (which surely you could have used [selfishly] yourself) has been passed along--to EVERYONE'S betterment!
  18. Good, Mystery. Am glad they sold. I have the 10s, 20s, and 30s, and absolutely love them all. And, not that my opinion really matters that much (unless I back it up w/ $$$, ha ha), am sure the purchaser is very happy, and will share in the enjoyment of them for years.
  19. Evidently, an informed, discriminating, sophisticated feline audiophile giving his(?) approval!
  20. Jim, let me try out my psychic powers. You are a veteran, or maybe LEO or both? Malinois, the avatar is Jack who was trained by the State police down in Florida for me. (he was awesome but no longer with us). Our current Mal is Axel 20 months. http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac262/bracattack/stuff/DSC06584_zpsj05rb4qh.jpg can I not add self hosted pics anymore? You are a veteran -- right you are, Psychic, I mean Brac! I appreciate their look, intelligence, courage, and work ethic! I know you miss Jack, and treasure Axel. Axel is good-looking, too. I had 2 wonderful Dobermans--blubbered like a baby when they died!
  21. Anybody see this posted in St. Louis? https://stlouis.craigslist.org/ele/4858165113.html Happy hunting!
  22. Hey, Brac, like the dog in your avatar. Shepherds are so handsome!!! Or, is that a Malinois?
