  1. Why mess with a good thing....might even make things worse,,,,like break the horn....just to move it 3/4 of an inch forward....think about it,,,,whats it gonna do....rick
  2. hey...that Yammy is good unit i have a 1040 and it is big and nice,,,had it since new never fried any tweeters....im an HK430 fan now though... but the big Yammy will always be with me i think......rick
  3. Hey Don if your not going to buy them at least tell us where they are so we can buy them,,,,,if i was close you wouldnt have this problem,,,they would be sold,,,sold the day i found them.....watchout,,,,,i do have a truck,,,lol,,,rick
  4. Im not sure what gear you have but it sounds like a dirty volume control also check all the connections at the crossover...loosen them, clean and tighten all connections.Do simple stuff first...you can clean volume control yourself with contact cleaner from radio shack. On ALK subject, i built mine my self, they sound good but not alot different, you can build a AA crossover with modern parts for alot less money. On my ALKs,the bass seems more defined to me,need more listening to say anymore, only had them in a few months, but i did have fun building them and i built them to exact specs. as AL sugests so if you do build them make sure you do it right.....rick p.s. if the problem goes to other speaker when you switch wires around its not the crossover for sure,,,try this first to make sure you start on right end of problem....
  5. Years ago while drooling over stereo review, audio, etc. i came across dorm room systems and some guy had a outdoor ant. mounted to his ceiling with a rotor to...wild...i said to my self im going to get a ant. and rotor when i get older.Well i did and love it....i dont think its that much better but i need to raise it up a little i think, its even with power lines which might be affecting it....rick
  6. well i got HK430 for my son last year and now i have a HK430,HK730 and im very impressed and so is everyone who hears it,,,,,rick
  7. Go to wal-mart or a home depot,,,if there is anything like that there.. get some reg cable,,,,dont need to spend the bucks on cable...spend your money on the false corners instead,,just get 12Gauge cable ,,rick
  8. Welcome....i think Y is 1983 on date code chart,,,,,can you tell us about your system....rick
  9. Well HDBR first told me this idea and i said ok i will try it,,,,get HK430 reciever,...then take metal sliders off bottom of LaScala and put on grippers from wal-mart if LaScala is on smooth hard floor...i did and it does work,,,,rick i also put a gripper in center of bottom of bass bin,,,i think that helped to
  10. Be sure and do HDBR idea and take off metal sliders and put on grippers from wal-mart,,,,hooks it up to smooth floor ....makes a good improvment,,,,i did this to my Scalas,Corns and wow,,,,rick
  11. I think we need a pic to see what your idea is,,,,i would use your idea till i made a proper false corner with a base on it ,,,instead of making a 2x4 wall....just take seveal 2x4 and lay them down on wide face and screw into 4 foot square 3/4 inch plywood base, build it up like logs ,,crossing over at the corner ,,every other one will be different length...screw into each other and to 3/4 inch base ...you will end up with a very soilid corner. Then finish it with drywall, paneling, etc. Then seal speaker to the base and corner ,you will be surprised im sure of the results....with this set up you can then point the K-Horns into the room any way you want,,,you only need the false corner as high as the bass bin part of speaker.....just make one and try it next to what your using now to see if it improves.....i think it will be a lot better....and easier to make than you think....rick..p.s. let us know what you decide
  12. I dont think false corners made out of cork is good idea,,,,might be ok in a pinch,,,but do make proper corners for your K-Horns and seal them to the corner tight....it does make it work better,,,rick
  13. My idea would be to build false corners with a smooth base such as 3/4 inch plywood and make it a solid unit,or as heavy as i could make it and also make it look nice by drywalling or maybe some sort of finish. With the hard smooth base plate on it you could really hook it up to the false corner by silicone,or grippers on bottom of your K-Horns...dont forget the tailboard and horzontil seals for the bass bin...HDBR has some posts about putting silicone on bottom to create a seal.Let us see what you decide....rick p.s.sure is nice to see a female into K-Horns...welcome to the forum
  14. Brent, welcome to the forum....if your Cornwalls are on hard floor i would try grippers from wal-mart put in place of metal sliders, and you might think about trying an HK 430 reciever.....just a thought rick
  15. Well if they are on hard floor you should put grippers on bottom after removing the metal sliders...HDBR....gave us this tip and i used it on my LaScalas,Cornwalls......helps alot....on yours and mine the backs dont come off Klipsch went to front mount to save on time in factory.....rick
  16. anyone have that klipschgold screen saver...i lost it on my comp.....rick
  17. Since this all started i have decided and im sure many others have to....not to buy any new CDs...if the record companies want to pay singers millions and try to make us foot the bill for thier poor judgment good luck.....I go to wal-mart and see CDs for 12.00 and then see DVDs for 5.00 and in a bigger box and a video on the movie...even a 7 year old will say.. whats up...plus the record companies saw this comming for years and just looked the other way and raised CD prices and now they cry cause they lost out on some sales...well i think this action is going to come back and bite them where it hurts...rick
  18. dirty volume control....get eletrical cleaner ,,,unplug reciever clean volume from outside if you cant see it on inside,,,,,wait awhile before trying again so cleaner dries good,,,,rick
  19. just get some wood to make the tail board thicker,,,,get some velcro strips velcro it on the tailboard, put rubber seals on new board it will seal in corner better,,this way it can be put back to original if need be...if on hard floor dont forget to seal the bottom to the floor,,,,like HDBR said...or atleast use grippers on them and seal horizontal wood on bass bin to wall.rick
  20. i noticed on my Cornwalls woofer bareley moves ,even at loud settings....so you say woofer has three times the movement of muddy one, makes me think something might be wrong with the loud one, maybe,,,,just a thought,,,,cant be sure since we are not there.....let us know what you find out...rick
  21. i see by your last ten posts you have LaScalas.. i think....you should just get HK430... take a look at my last ten posts on HK,Grippers,,,,,it is good stuff,,,,if your speakers are on hard smooth surface,,,rick
