  1. I think the biggest pet peeve - it certainly is mine - is they are not Reference speakers. It's led to so much confusion for many less educated about the Klipsch lines. They aren't reference speakers...they're synergy or icon...doesn't matter what Klipsch did to them, a spade is a spade. If they're made cheaper than what Reference was, then they don't deserve the status. The name Synergy or Icon worked just fine for those lower lines. My thought process anyway...
  2. ^ This. When learning about anything pertaining to A/V, that was one of the biggest humps I had to get over to understand. THX for the most part (at least at the time I was learning about AVR's) is just a really supped up set of standards that can be handled just as seamlessly with a receiver without certification and DTS decoders. I honestly don't notice a difference in how the soundfield shifts between a DTS:ES output and a THX Cinema EX output. Then again, my receivers are over 8 and 10 years old respectively now. Wiki says it pretty well too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/THX
  3. Alright, I got some pictures up. Apologies for them being blurry...I don't have access to my usual camera right now, so I had to settle for my phone. I'm reluctant to take apart the carousel if I don't have to. The carousel appears to be the most dirty thing inside of the unit, safe for the rust along the outside edges of the casing - the actual boards from what I can see are almost immaculate. Does anyone think this is worth going beyond just a simple refinish/cleanup? Like I said, I intend to sell this unit, I just want to get it to be in selling shape. Thanks.
  4. Funnily enough I just saw a CL add that was confusing the two last night. They're totally different speakers with totally different specs that sound totally different. The 82 is clearly the superior speak.
  5. ^ Haha...no just a lot of family and friends. I'd have to have em shipped myself. Still would be worth it, but I just don't need em now.
  6. Oh my god, it gets worse... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-RS-35-Surround-Speakers-in-Factory-Box-/331405249419?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item4d294acb8b RS-3"5"'s huh?
  7. Shoot where was that when I was looking back in October...? Jeez...
  8. Even though I'm not a heritage guy (yet) I'd still like to see what comes around for the new offerings before I get my head to delved into figuring out ways around things. Might even be some work arounds in the coming months that don't require nearly as much thought.
  9. It's an ear thing really. The other big thing with the RF-5's is they were made in the U.S. instead of overseas. On the topic of ear things, I've picked my RF-3 II's over even the RF-82's before. It's not to say the 3's are better speakers, it's just that's what my ears heard and preferred.
  10. No they were on Rockford's Craigslist. I'm not sure if they're still around or not though.
  11. There were some Quartets in the Rockford, IL area not too long ago - about 6 hours north of you.
  12. It'd definitely be worth the asking price, but if she was so desperate to be rid of it I'd think she'd just rapidly part with it without any regards to cost as well...I call scam.
  13. ...these guys are taking. http://www.ebay.com/itm/KLIPSCH-RS3-II-SURROUND-SATELLITE-SPEAKERS-BLACK-IN-GREAT-SHAPE-/271686814674?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item3f41cbcbd2 10% off MSRP for used-slightly-damaged RS-3 II's...smdh.
  14. Well if all else fails they do for sure have some Jub emblems...I know that to be a fact.
  15. I'm pretty sure I have you beat in the overkill department. I have a full RF-3 II Theater setup, plus two RS-42 II's in my bedroom. lol
  16. I'm sorry, I missed your original comment stating they were new. That being said I think your price for the 41's is about right on.
  17. North side of Peoria, IL. I scored some RF-25's and an RC-35 down that way just about a month ago for $270. He's not gonna be moving those Peoria way at all though.
  18. If the 7 is indeed mint I'd say that might not be too far off...probably the higher end of the range, but you can always come down. The 41's I'd trim a little a way (that's just me, I've seen a good number of them go for down around $180). The 51's you're probably in the ballpark. Do you have any pictures?
