So I got the hs-2 speakers. They were used on eBay. There is something definitely wrong with them. One speaker only produced muffled bass, the other speaker only produced mids. Also the volume output of the different speakers were completely different. I had to disconnect the woofers and crank the volume up on the receiver to discover that there was actually sound coming out of the tweeters. I emailed the guy to complain since the ad said they were good working speakers, and he ended up giving me my money back. I'm guessing the crossovers need to be replaced and maybe the woofers and tweeters. So I never got to do a real test. I was trying to pick up something used/cheaper like the aw's. I may have to call acoustic sound design to ask how much the cp-6's would be.

Please let us know how the ports go, I have thought about doing this, others said it would not help, the bass would become muddy, but I'm still really curious.

Are they HS-2 or HS-2T models.Bruce Hs-2. The woofers sound different from each other, and the tweeters are pretty much non existent. I don't know if it's just the crossovers that are messed up or what. I got my money back and the eBay seller didn't want them back. The seller never tested them before the sale.

This raises a question for me (not trying to hijack the thread). I know that the heresy was made as a center channel for the klipschorns. Back then (50s, 60s ish) there was no such thing as surround sound. So back in the 2 channel hay day, how did you hook up three speakers? Ask of the vintage equipment I have seen was only meant for left and right speakers. This has been bugging me for awhile.

I gave a friend of mine the phone number to buy the speakers. Too many variables for me to get into it just yet. I will get my klipschorns someday.

There was an ad in Rhode Island for a pair of klipschorns. Turns out they are speakerlab clones. I have a second chance at buying these for $600. He built these himself after buying the kits directly from the factory. He seemed to know his stuff. I know nothing about these. Should I stay away from this since there are too many variables? Please help

I just got a second chance on these. Everything is still there, do I do it? They are kits from speakerlab from the 70s. He bought them from the factory and built then himself. The caps have been replaced semi recently. He seems like he know his stuff, especially with the caps and resistors. What do I do?

I was actually the first person to call the guy. He said he was selling the speakers for his father-in-law. He said he had all of the original paperwork with the receipts from the 80s showing they were originally purchased for $6000ish. I told him I was very interested in checking them out to buy. He told me he would have his father-in-law call me back from he got out of church. I called him back a couple of hours, and they were sold. Apparently he called the wrong person first. It makes me feel better that you guys don't think they were original klipschorns.

You could always make custom back panels (easy enough to do), throw a port in the back bottom, and throw some insulation in the cabinet, and see where that takes you. Report back on your findings.
