  1. Interesting project all in all. Not being technically inclined I would have just adjusted the treble control on my receiver. You may have given Bob Crites some ideas though.
  2. Interesting theory about symphony seating.
  3. Why not just buy a two way initially?
  4. Seems a lot of things have been going on behind the scenes.
  5. The Midas car chase commercial get a lot of airplay up here this time of year. I think this might be the third winter they have used it. I get a kick out of it every time.
  6. Good point, I have often wondered this myself. Pretty much dictates that they must be stand mounted. Usually best if they are anyway.
  7. Canadian style high speed police chase.
  8. I am very happy and satisfied with 24 bit remastered CDs. Could there be better? Perhaps. Does the cost benifet ratio make it worth it to me? No. To twist Tommy Lee Jones quote, I don’t want to have to buy the White Album again.

    105th Grey Cup

Great post, it clearly lays out the rule differences. I have always preferred the CFL due to the overall speed of the game. The NFL is a spectacle to be sure (much larger market), but the games seem slow and choppy once you are used to Canadian rules.

In Canada a wardrobe malfunction usually involves a stuck parka zipper.

Great halftime show, they just brought Shania Twain across the field on a dogsled! Perfect.

Actually football had it origins in Canada although the game wasn’t quite the same as today’s. http://www.rcinet.ca/en/2015/05/14/history-may-14-1874-how-canada-created-american-football/
  15. You will probably have a much better idea what will work best after you move and get used to your new space. Having the JBL L-100s on hand will be a pretty nice solution for interim. Nice sounding old classics.

    105th Grey Cup

The Stamps made it to the Cup last year and ended up losing a very close game to the Ottawa Red Blacks. They will be gunning for it this year. A lot of the sportscasters are giving the Argos the edge though.

    105th Grey Cup

The countdown is on, less than an hour until kick off for the CFL's 105th Annual Grey Cup. Starts at 4pm Mountain, 6pm Eastern. The Calgary Stampeders vs the Toronto Argonauts in the nation's capital, Ottawa. Looks like it is going to be every bit as good as last years Cup game.
  19. It will sound fine. The majority of things on TV are in stereo anyway.
  20. All in all they are in pretty good shape. You have something to work with. Love the antique radio.
  21. I am originally from the Toronto area (Oshawa) and Jazz FM was my main staple station. Fortunately we are able to tune in here in Yellowknife through the radio stations offered through Apple TV. Have it playing pretty much all weekend long.
  22. No doubt, in fact listening to a loudspeaker through another loudspeaker is its own conundrum if you think about it. You can certainly tell they are very clear. The piece done by Jen Chapin really showed dead accuracy and naturalness of a female voice, as well as the quality of the recording.I thought Paul Simon sounded a wee bit thin but attribute that to the passive not being in full play. Looking forward to mirroring tomorrow when Cindy is up and about. After that I think the living room set up will really tell the tale. Your home theatre is magnificent by the way. I have never seen such a thing in a private residence and the Fortes are absolutely beautiful looking speakers.
  23. Very nice, they make very apparent the quality of the original recording. Very much looking forward to hearing them with the rear radiators working with a wall. Listened and watched tonight with my IPad and Monster head phones. Tomorrow I’ll mirror it through the Apple TV and my system. Great work by the way.
  24. Thanks for the info, very interesting. I do remember some of the old speakers with controls. The unit in my photo was pretty much what I had with the EVs years ago. I utilize the Audessey through my Marantz and think it does wonders for tailoring the sound for my room. After using it in the room with my Ohms They sound great without tone control modifications. When I was using the RB61 IIs as mains Audessey with a -1 treble and +1 bass adjustment seemed to be perfect. And you are absolutely right about many recordings, prior to adjustment some sounded terrible. Accuracy to recorded material is great so long as said material is listenable. This seems to be less of an issue with the OHm driver. Going to go through the the faq sheet with a fine tooth comb and see if there are any improvements I can make.
