to me, it's all in the eye/ear of the beholder. just imho, that all.
  2. or Jimi's Star Spangled Banner from Woodstock?
  3. That's the only way we'd get one - when it's her idea.
  4. now that I am gainfully employed again, after my better half gets some home improvement projects rolling, I'm going to "put in" for an amp for our system. watching the market to see what's out there, then filter down to what will fit inside the WAF approved cabinet. I'd prefer a multi channel, 3 or more, but if there's a deal on monos, hey - hard to pass up a deal, right? I like the Emo XPA's but most of them I've checked the size on will not fit inside the cab. but a UPA-200 should, as well as some Parasounds, and the Acurus 200x3. decisions, decisions. and timing - catch her when she's willing to "approve" this project, lol
  5. ditto - prayers to you, yours & all those in your area. keep us posted as you can and, if you're able - get you a pull behind so you can rescue those CW beauties! but only if no added risk to self or family.
  6. imo - the mark of a decent individual right there. he coulda gotten all arrogant, ranting, shouting - "don't you know who I am?!?" & all that, but didn't. rather - lived on the other side & appreciated your effort. 👍
  7. oic. saw them while I was digging around for possible amp acquisitions. yes, they ARE very pretty. love the walnut!
  8. Bahahaha, that's awesome! Just doing your job, right?

  10. nice gig, huh? I would think so. except maybe for traffic, parking & related things. I've got a friend who used to be an EMT/paramedic type (maybe still is, idk, haven't talked much in a while) who used to work medical support from the infield @ Talladega. he did that for several years, I think even managing the medical support team. but that had to be > 15 yrs ago since I last worked with him before moving to MS. I did have a few occasions to "usher" for rock concerts etc where we did the same thing you did - help a few find their seats until after the show started, then we found an out of the way place to enjoy the show.
  11. @Coytee yeah but I'm sure you've heard the stories about how those lottery winners wind up destitute x # of yrs later. I know you wouldn't want to be just another one of them either, right?
  12. wow, what luck, eh? do ya (did ya) feel lucky? lol
  13. I'm thinking he did. I was watching it, trying to decide if I should pull the trigger & beg forgiveness, or not. @Rivernuggets - hope you got it. good luck!
  14. my '72 KWR are # 2K655 & 656. I find it interesting that OP's pair, # 2K414 & 415 got CW II labels but that mine, numbered 2K655 & 56 got CW I labels. to paraphrase what Andy @HDBRbuilder said above, I guess it was what it was? at any rate, I absolutely love mine!!!
  15. ^ that's awesome! haven't thought about Johnny 5 in years LOL
  16. yeah it was. have you seen the ads/promos for the spinoff series coming up I think this fall, I think called Mayans?
  17. but maybe less entertaining? except for Chad who I'm sure had nothing else to do but to fire back his answer

congrats. glad you were able to consummate the deal. good luck in pursuit & receipt of your F III's
  19. cool, thanks for the info. anyone have experience, 1st hand or reference based info using this board? thanks.
  20. that's what I aim to learn, preferably this easy way by picking experienced brains rather than anything more difficult. thank you very much sir. appreciate your feedback.
  21. ah, ok. IDK the distance to the MLP. I would guess +/- 10'. I do know that I would like "more volume" (SPL ?) than what I currently get. I gather that the current volume insufficiency may be due to the discussed fact that AVRs "work more" to drive the multi channels and thereby reducing overall power delivered. I have noticed that on occasion I've reached reference level on the AVR, and for my preference would still like more volume, especially in the lower frequencies. thus, my desire to explore additional amp power.
  22. um, idk... that may be part of what I'm trying to learn. but - from what I think I've picked up is that cuz the CW are as efficient as they are, the low watt output should still give me a pleasing result at my main listening position. yes? primary use would be as a 2 ch amp to drive my LR Cornwall fronts, using the AVR as the source and AVR to drive other channels, which currently are surround L & R. now, if I'm not answering your question, I may not be understanding the concept properly. not intentionally being dense, but accidental density may be introduced.
  23. so can a DIY noob get some feedback on this please? if things work out in the near future, I'm hoping to add an amp for primarily HT duty. main desire is to get what I think has been described as more overhead available, primarily for lower end response from my Cornwall mains. not running a dedicated center right now but that may also happen at some point down the road. anyway, prior to reading this thread, I had been thinking along the lines of adding a 5-ch amp, something like an Outlaw 5000, Emotiva 5-ch (UPA-5?, XPA-5?) to my AVR for additional power using its pre-outs, or if I can find a deal/steal on something better. BUT, after reading this thread, I do like the idea of the Amp Camp Amp DIY deal, the quality of the result, support channel in place for 1st timers that I would be, as well as the price point getting into it. so - for discussion & feedback - knowing that the ACA would give me 2 ch to run the LR CW vs a 5-ch or more to run those, you guys who have been around this, I would appreciate your thoughts comparing these 2 paths - the ACA vs a 5-ch or 7-ch Outlaw, Emotiva etc? thanks in advance.
  24. understood. I'm not versed as well on these guys as I pay more attention to the more strictly defined Heritage line. just throwing this out there in case anyone is interested - not that there are a smokin' deal
  25. Rog - @twistedcrankcammer - I don't know that I've interacted with you in my short time 'round here. reading only this page - you are a caring, compassionate individual. we need more like you in all walks of life. so preceding credit to @Coytee but I agree with what he said. kindest regards to all of you who posted already - this page alone @Ceptorman @JohnJ and I have probably missed many others. getting old can be such an awful way to go. my Mom died in '15 after doing her best to deal with Alzheimer's for 4-5 yrs or so before that. it was hard on us, her children, to see what it did to her. she had always been a kind hearted soul and remained that way. so I know a little about what you folks describe. my heart goes out to all of you, having been there & done some of that. sometimes, it's really such a shame to reach the "golden years" of life only to then have something like that take hold of you.
