  1. Just got off our local lake after checking ice thickness for some possible ice-sailing action. Current temperature was 24 degrees, winds North at 15-20, gusts to 25+. Ice is smooth as a baby's a$$ yet only 4" thick. Who's up for a 60+mph ride.......with NO motor, and NO brakes??? Just good old clean fun !
  2. Was looking at AAPL way back in the mid-late 90's at about $17 per share. Yes, that was pre cell phone and the explosion of the personal device market and consistently reliable internet. Hindsight is 20/20........but no regrets.
  3. Another 3800 down to go and we will be 25% off record highs of 29,550. Support will creep in.......eventually. Dow P/E ratio was running close to 21x forward earnings. https://www.wsj.com/market-data/stocks/peyields A 25% hair cut would likely reduce P/E ratios to around 15x (assuming same revenue generation, costs, etc). Nice guessing game, cough - cough cough............it's just a sinus infection &/or head cold......really. I might run out of investable cash before this finally stabilizes . If I were 81 I'd be concerned, but being (acting) 18 - well, lets just see where this purposely and long supported lead balloon lands.
  4. Accountability went out the window within the past 1-2 generations. Just ask my kids.... ymmv
  5. I re-allocated my kids' 529 college accounts just 6 weeks ago. No, I'm not a fortune teller, but a sense of uneasiness had crept into my mind with the seemingly heated market, and with limited time left for them to realize further gains it made good sense to reduce their equity exposure.
  6. Altec 511B horns spec to 500hz - yes?
  7. Times were different then, we have mechanisms in place to catch falling knives - to some degree. Calling for a 80-90% drop in market price is quite absurd, and should it happen you wouldn't be likely too concerned with the loss of your investment, rather, you'd likely be concerned with defending yourself / family / property from every human being you encounter as they would all have turned into zombies with that type of downfall. Koombaya
  8. In "Who"-ville, even the mean 'ol scrooge was able to grow a heart. Not concerned with "-villes", that will all sort itself out in time. Cough, cough (I've had one for the past 5 days = simple Mid-west sinus congestion head cold) Its NOT Ebola, and pent up demand with this downturn will re-enter the market at a later date.
  9. Right on ! How about some chain-mail type gloves to alleviate the normal deep wounds associated with catching falling knives? ....Whatever those "gloves" - tools &/or mechanisms may be.........for you. All the best & good fortunes to all !
  10. Can I order up another 6,000 point decline so I can just pile my chips into the market all at once? The recent run-up was a farce, correction was NEEDED. In my opinion, this sequence of events will allow for great opportunities to BUY. Even the "$hit hit the fan" collapse in 08-10 allowed for blind guess gains of 30-50% but only if you had the capital & "stones" to invest, and then endure the choppy waters.
  11. Perrrrrfect ! Your position, and thus your overall outlook, may be quite different but I intend to be buying in at every 1500 point (5%) decline ! A bloated 29,500 starting point down to: 28,000 - 26,500 - 25,000 - 23,500 - 22,000 - 20,500 - 19,000 If the DJIA goes to 19,000 that would be a full 35% haircut & I'd be dollar cost averaged "IN" at about 23,500 assuming equal capital allocation amounts at each level noted. @ 23,400 we'd be back to the hiccup down / low point that occurred back in December of 2018 which represents a 20% down turn from all-time highs. It's only "lost" money if you SELL. Turn up the music, enjoy the ride if you can, and party on without the drama of the media frenzy.......
  12. https://grandrapids.craigslist.org/ele/d/grand-rapids-adcom-amp-and-preamp-with/7065777969.html The "in the box" CF-4's are still available for the low, low, price of $2000
  13. Agree fully on the oak wrap. TH = theater SR = surround 70 = horn (700hz?) any other differing internals we should be aware of?
  14. https://grandrapids.craigslist.org/ele/d/grand-rapids-klipsch-heresy/7079512479.html Tags show these are TH - SR - 70. NOT mine..... .
  15. We are down to about 9 minutes remaining on the Ebay auction............. Sold for $304. @DTO Congrats on your purchase. Let us know if they are operable & comment on condition after pick up.
  16. about time....photos or it didn't happen
  17. Since when does a posting in the Alerts section require it to be a trip over 18 other buyers to get to the deal? Thank you for posting. IF you feel that Alerts is better suited for those "steal of a deal items", then consider posting general finds in the "Did you see what I saw" thread WITHIN the Alerts : Black grills would surely make the cabinets pop, and although LaScala pricing is at or near asking price for these, some here as you know have struggled considerably in their recent search to find a suitable (or any) pair of LS to purchase.
  18. @Fmelindy Don't forget the horn - adapter gaskets. Also maybe consider getting new driver - adapter gaskets too rather than using old, dried out, squished ones.
  19. @fragman56 Rick, Welcome to the forum. Your location is where? PM sent regarding sale items.
  20. @DizRotus A very nice gesture sir, I hope this will inspire others to follow.
  21. @rockhound That was quick......how much were you asking? Also, I gotta give you some props for your signature: "My neighbors listen to some really good music even if they don’t want to"
  22. Great question. If a pair, I likely missed out on a good-ish deal. If a single, I missed the opportunity to negotiate for a center. No tears are being shed here though.
  23. Fed-Ex has shown me that it is the safest "bet" for shipping nearly anything. But, shipping still remains a gamble.
