  1. You can see pics of the veneer prior to stain here -->> http://s1368.photobucket.com/user/MCoffel/library/Klipsch%20Heresy%20Restoration
  2. Well... fair question, I guess. Being that it was my very first veneer job, my wife (and partner on this project) and I chose red birch for price and looks knowing we could achieve something "cherry-ish" with stain. That's my best answer and I'm sticking to it! LOL
  3. Nice. Definitely want to follow the progress.
  4. I chose red birch and stained cherry (Watco Danish Oil). Love how they came out. With the red birch (which is not very RED to begin with), one can pretty much stain to a wide variety of colors.
  5. I have ONE of the early "laser" badges. Not sure what to do with it. I restored my 78' Heresies and in doing so, bought newer grills that had badges on them. Would love to go back to the early style but... Looks like this:
  6. May I ask... Which badge style? (There are couple versions.)
  7. Nice! Somebody's gonna get a deal!
  8. Looking good! Can't wait to see the final product.
  9. Score! With a little work, they can be made to look as great as they sound. My 78's... (they were VERY rough when I picked them up)...
  10. Saw this and posted in Alerts last week or so. Not sure if it's what you are looking for... http://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649294712-1988-klipsch-la-scala-parts/
  11. Awesome. Please share the process/method/products used in the refurb process!
  12. Not mine but ran across them. Only ONE EACH of the items. 1988 KLIPSCH LaScala components from Suburban World Theater in Uptown Minneapolis.Balancing Network has 6 inductors = full 12 dB driver protection. Later models have only 4.K55M & K77M are E-V Electro-Voice OEM drivers = built exclusively for Klipsch thru 1992.Tweeter needs $20 diaphragm - in stock at Midwest Speaker - I will install it here at no charge. Please note: One of each item - this is not a pair - what you see is what you get. http://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649294712-1988-klipsch-la-scala-parts/
  13. I can't answer your question either but I see you are in Rodent Fart... er... I mean Rohnert Park nearest, of course, to your twin city, Cow Titty... I mean Cotati. NIce!! I went to SSU you for a time and lived in Santa Rosa for 30 years! CHEERS!
  14. $650... wow.... ahhhh... Oh how I wish I was closer.
  15. Awesome! Congrats... We want a full review of their sound and Matt's work! lol
  16. Well daaaaaang! That was quick. Where's the easy button?!?!
  17. I hear you. I'm in no hurry but.... perhaps I'll run across a pair that need some attention (and are cheap) that will give me an excuse to refinish. And... you are right. They are in very good, original shape.
  18. I'll measure when I get home. I THINK I have the 22" over there. Not sure. The other 3 sides are no problem. Big room. 678 sq ft.
  19. Aaahh... thanks so much. I have a room that is more than large enough BUT I lack this distance on one side due to a sliding door.
  20. This is how you PREPPED? Sanding down the existing stain/finish to the veneer? Mine are lacquer finished. I was thinking I might strip and re-stain in a Cherry type finish and then perhaps a clear satin finish. I would also LOVE to put grills on them. Love the look of these you have for sale.
  21. May I ask... how did or do you go about stripping these a prepping for this new finish?
  22. I poked around and I don't see this so thought I would ask... how big a corner does a KHorn require. ie- What is the distance from the corner in the room to the outside corner of the speaker that is against the wall?
  23. I have a set. Came off a pair of 1978 Heresy. Missing a badge. Make me an offer or trade if you are interested. I would say the grills are an 8.5 out of 10.
