  1. Ha. Bell bottoms.... I had to wear those atrocities....once. The stories I hear from the "old timers" are great regarding fashion. Sergio Valentine, Jordasche jeans for the ladies, Ditto, La Costa...And FUR. Fess up, who wore a fur coat?
  2. "Lol, okay, I guess that makes seven " Jupiter(crossovers) line isn't part of the Heritage I guess... Anyway, looking forward to their wood, leather and metal "Heritage" line up.
  3. Wowsers. Looking good.
  4. The crossovers aren't working on my phone. Don't hear a difference.
  5. Yup. Doesn't take me but a second to see something from a distance and notice quality. Sort of shouts at you. Take the dresser I have in the M.B. Walking around a sale everything was ho-hum. Run of the mill stuff. Walked in and my eyes went directly to the oxidized copper feet on the bottom of the dresser. It was "calling" me. Walked over took out couple drawers and everything was dove tail joints and each drawer was different size 6",10"12" with double sliders underneath each drawer. Then you have the doors on either side of the dresser are an inch thick. Cool. Also REAL walnut wood supporting the bottom of the drawers not plywood.I went to lift it to see the back....Could NOT budge it. I thought crap, it's bolted to the wall, floor somehow. Nope. The mirror alone was 70#! (After I weighed it) Thing is a beast of a dresser easily 250#. Same with the Bell's. I instantly saw the craftsmanship. I knew too that was a beast. A lot of quality craftsmanship out there but as society becomes more and more mobile people don't want to take this insanely heavy items with them. I will.
  6. The blue/red combination on the bezel dial.
  7. I have had a few Rolexs and other watches and now am sporting a Seiko "Pepsi" dive watch. Looses a bit of time every month, about three minutes which I'm not happy about but I'm more comfortable with this watch than any other. My wife insist that she'll like to get me another and if that's the case I told her to buy me a used Rolex GMT SS Pepsi one so if it gets banged up I'm not worried. There's something about analog. Have to wind it up everyday? My type of watch. In the future I would like the following: Omega Sea Master planet ocean. Yes, the same watch as James Bond. I liked them before he did. Panereai: Damn, nice looking watch. Specifically the Luminor 1950 submersible. Dream watch : Seiko Ananta spring drive gmt watch for dinner and special occasions. I'd like to try others but it can become a very expensive hobby. A fun watch to hear is the Credor line of watches. The chime of this watch is just amazing and it's complicated movement notwithstanding is flat out beautiful. I don't run in these circles but if I did this is a watch I'd have.
  8. Isn't this true of most Heritage line? I LOVE listening to my Bell's and have a hard time leaving the couch. I spend hours listening to them. Caught my wife letting them rip at appropriate levels yesterday. Gotta love em.
  9. Agreed. With all those Yale, Harvard, Duke,Stanford graduates etc in Congress can they not think about the infrastructure of the U.S.? Can we divert maybe just a tiny fraction of a trillion dollars in defense & aid to other countries towards getting our house in order? Many cities are on borrowed time with their pipes that were laid with cast iron back in 1940's. That's gas pipes and water. Example. A neighborhood here in Richmond California found that out as a gas main, which is a BIG pipe blew. Cause? Old, old rusty pipe. The extra tax money that Pacific gas and electric asked for years ago and got to supposedly "fix" this issue never did go towards that. Where did it go you ask? Bonuses. Yup. Executive bonuses. The diversion of monies at least here in California that we pay at the pumps, license renewal, bond measures never get to where it's supposed to. I'm no legal eagle but it seems the accountants are smarter than lawyers to be able to figure ways around laws.
  10. It has THE largest spillway in the US. It partially collapsed leaving a 200ft gaping hole. Things got worse and now evacuation orders were given to various towns and cities. A co-worker had to leave his work as his family had to hot foot it out of town. I told them to come stay with us if needed. Only in America our infrastructure is breaking. The emergency spillway started to carve a hole into the dam and thus sent out mandatory evacuation. http://www.sacbee.com/news/state/california/water-and-drought/article132332499.html
  11. I've heard that to be true of people from unique origins. Be it native Hawaiian, Indians, Japanese or any family who grew up in the city then go see their grandparents "back in the country". Which could mean actual country or "up thar in the hills" Lol. Mom& dad understands it perfectly but not the kids. Too funny.
  12. First you have to understand WHAT their telling you they're cooking. I have a French/Creole talking friend at work who happens to be the coolest guy ever. Understand him? Only every third word. But man can he BBQ!! He gets that company grill fired up sometimes and let's it rip. Co-workers on their days off come into work to eat. Yeah, it's that good.
  13. Good idea but it time to get a new one. $120 and some change. Edit: The irony....So close but so far. I'm 30' from this.
  14. Meh, I could be in a worse place. I'm next to one of the country top coffee houses. Sometimes life stops you in "rough" neighborhoods. Oh and I'm on "vacation" for a week.
  15. Sitting here in an underground garage with a dead battery. No warning, nada, nothing. Grrrr. Battery WANTS to turn over but it's kaput. Original 2009 battery in my Lexus. You'd think there would have been some sort of warning. Stopped to get some groceries and came back out pfthhh. AAA to the rescue. I could be in worse places so I'm grateful that I'm dry and have coffee, food and my health
  16. Sheesh, no helmet, eye protection, ear cover or gloves. What's this guy thinking!
  17. Digging that photo. Says a lot. More than I can put into words.
  18. My latest acquisition. Been needing a good stereo cabinet as I was using an end table. Perusing the local CL add I came across one that fit the bill. The lady selling it said it belonged to her grandmother and was in excellent shape. Indeed it was! $35? Sold! I particularly like this one as it compliments the Klipsch Belle's being period correct and all. Also being tiered gives it a bit more dimension. It's big enough to fit all three of my receivers the Marantz, Sony and the current one Realistic. The bottom where you see the straw basket weave design incredibly hasn't got one rip after all these decades. There one can store a ton of records and whatnot. There is however a slight nick on the side towards the bottom that I'll get to with some stain otherwise a beaut. It's as if the Klipsch & it go together.
  19. Willing to help. Sent PM. At estate sale now. Their asking $250. Might be able to get lower. https://www.estatesales.net/CA/Carmichael/95608/1423719 Have to go. Cheers.
  20. "have no recollection of the trails you just road or how you got to where you are at." Did a couple centuries back in the day never 24 hr. It wasn't the century that got me it was the next day. I was riding to Canada and normally do 50-70 miles top a day. That day I did 113 and cruzed into the Lava beds national park late at night DEAD TIRED. Next day was an easy, don't laugh, 20 mile ride. So normally I would have done let's say 60 one day and 70 the next. Nope. Not me. Genius me. Do you know those 20 miles was THE hardest I've ever done? I was falling asleep while riding! Lol.Tired, tired tired. But I was stubborn and wanted to get to my next campground and was determined to stay on schedule. Luckily the road was flat and no cars that day. I was a mess and looking like Benny hill on a bike for the first time.
  21. Lol. Yes a lot of courtesy and smack talking in those packs. Haha. Once had an idiot that I was eyeing and decided to break away front the pack and go into the head wind alone. Fell behind as they zoomed ahead. Something about that mix I didn't care for. Come up on the riders and a few have crashed. Found out the idiot (THAT idiot) in front of the pack in head winds decided to ease his back a by lifting himself up this slowing him down a ton. That's fine if your by yourself. With riders an inch of your rear wheels? Can you say ramming speed? Some people don't THINK. One usually *waves* for the rider behind you to take over or you break right and let the pack pass you. One doesn't just sit up. Yeah, fun times in those packs. A Zen like state almost.
  22. Sorry Cept. But that's sort of par for the course. Pay to play. Fortunately that was my only real bad crash that was way beyond my control. In those younger years I pushed the limit my of my cycle and it was great. I like to think I was pretty safe guy and I always attributed that to my "pre-flight" checks and maintenance before going on any ride. After that you better bet I checked my spokes by squeezing them from time to time.
  23. Haha. Mucho respect. Even in pro cycling doing 35-50 downhill in a pack was nerve racking. Your literally inches from the guys pedal next to you and you pray nobody farts and screws up the rhythm in the pack. Like sitting at a poker table. You just KNOW if your out of your league sitting anchor or your in the right pack. Even though I was good there were times everyone else was excellent. These guys at IOM are that. Wow, just amazing freaks.(In a good way)
