  1. NO. Something BAD wrong with that setup. Nothing else could possible explain it. Why would anyone unless just ignorant want to put that many watts of a PAIR of amps onto speakers with 105db sensitivity?? ** Well yea acoustics weren't good in that tight situation, but could not have caused what I heard and didn't hear.
  2. Before my `Canes best ex coach and his D beat the Pens, I had the most strange Saturday evening in decades. There aren't audio dealers in Charlotte, NC anymore. Sound Systems with three listening rooms of three price tiers of equipment to plug your cassette into or play an LP. That is a thing of the last century gone along with common sense & decency being ridiculed by the dumbass masses right now. Or maybe they're still up in Green Bay where HiFiHeaven is. Called some numbers of authorized Klipsch dealers in my town, one a half mile away. Answering machines, websites set up for pricey home theater installation. Talked to one guy across town that was a hoot and we chatted for twenty minutes. He had a friend/client that had some LaScalas that had talked about upgrading. He hooked us up. Parasound JC1s. Yep one for each channel @400 watts each VPI?? something or another looked like a $5k turntable with the motor separate from the chassis about 1 year old Klipsch LaScala IIs in a small living room Seemingly decent sociable guy. I was f'n impressed. Until I heard it. My sub $5k system sounds so much better: Cambridge CXA80, CXN, CXA, 2016 turntable - not my excellent dead YAH P50, 1991 Klipsch Heresy IIs. Bass was ?, mid and high frequencies were there with some stunning clarity but not right. The "Big" Klipsch sound of the folded woofer type speaker was there. The so-called sound stage was there, but it was just not good. I'm not a pressed and pleated gentleman with finesse, I wasn't born yesterday, but I'm not mean-spirited either. Did he blow these and try to get me to cut his losses? There could have been some senility in play and the fellow was lost in space? He seemed lucid, not stoned. I know what my deductions lead me to think. I thought I had problems until earlier this eve. `K doc, I feel better. Anything this sad and or bogus ever happen to you???
  3. C'mon Guys! They aren't a flawless used $10k pair, they're an inexpensive set of K-horns. I thought they would be a steal if they function correctly under the blemishes. My Bad. Too big for me and my abode.
  4. I'll give this fella a bump, these are sequential numbered Bicentennial Belles from `76 good looking too. They've been re-listed https://hartford.craigslist.org/ele/6144129273.html pics of the labels and crossovers were added. There has been a capacitor change on the crossovers from the previous owner. Owner say that they sound terrific, actually had them checked out by an electrician. He seems like a good guy, communicates well with prospective buyers (unlike some others). The things on the bottom corners aren't casters they are those spinning top shaped isolators that screw in. Sitting on some pieces of wood to keep from gouging the floor I think.
  5. Yep I'm looking all over for folded woofer big Ks right now. Didn't really think they looked that bad for the price, but hearing is what's important.....sure you'd agree. If they weren't six hours away I'd go listen.
  6. https://jacksonville.craigslist.org/ele/6156734304.html just saw this someone need to get there FAST!
  7. Yikes! Well to be honest the 70th and Spec. Edit. Cornwalls have an almost 50% markup, likewise those sharp Heresy counterparts.
  8. Wooo HOOOO !! Even though I had to spend big bucks last week unexpectedly this is still a thrill to hear. The California Black Walnut is special on other models. Do you know if they are $1800 each or are the regular ones that much. Don't fret if you don't know, sure I'm not the only one that appreciates your input already. Thinking driving to New England for 40 yr old big folded woofer Klipsch (needing some Crites help) might not be the best for me. Decisions....... Going to see some LaScalas downtown here tomorrow before the puck-drop. Getting excited like a kid that sees something in Christmas wrapping paper on the top shelf of the closet!
  9. Jodieodio, I'm on the south side of Charlotte 5 min from 77 15 min from 85, looking at $130/day to rent a minivan for a 11hr drive to CT for some more old Belles that would need more tlc than your speakers would. I'd like to hear these! Got bucks now! The wood grain on that ones face looks pretty good, with a little work they would accept some stain. Let's talk!
  10. Hi wvu80, dom sent me more detailed pics showing the backs w/sn stickers when I asked him about the Cornwalls a month ago. He was personable and very helpful then. I'm wondering if him and the Mrs. have gone on a big vacation. (Hope it's not anything bad.) Pm'd him on the 19th then the post above this am without any response. Could be he just sold all of those treasures elsewhere. "Atta-boy Penguins!" (my faves besides my young-now `Canes) You got past Laviolette's D after all tonight! Had to be grown-up and procure a new washer and dryer my Forte III hopes are dashed, now chasing some beautiful Belles. Road trip is nigh, either PA@7hrs or CT@11hrs. Belles with 80W behind them might be too much for me at 54. 16 with Terrible Ted & Aerosmith shows, Molly Hatchet/UFO/Judas Priest all in one night while I was a teen was a different story! Seriously doubt I'd turn it half as much like I do on the Heresy IIs.
  11. domd817 Hey, you still out there? Let me know if you have these Belle Klipsch. Check your pm. Know you've got some pics of these 125# gals like you had of those Cornwalls. I can't swing the Forte IIIs like I've been dead-set on. Necessities don't come cheap when they're appliances. Haven't priced a rental van yet but it looks like CLT to PIT is less than an 8 hr drive. If you would allow me a brief audition and assist with loading them this could actually transpire soon.
  12. IF-then congrats to the person able to help out this museum to American Ingenuity that was PWK. Actually love that silver-luster grill with the dark reddish wood. Heresys are great and a perfect size for most rooms!
  13. GPBusa that sounds like a balanced appraisal and approach. Appreciate it.
  14. GOOD Stuff, and mine was only 40 wpc, class A dialed up to 3pm without clipping!!
  15. Only thing I'll hurt dtel is my budget for the rest of 2017! The nuances of what sounds good to me or to you just can't be explained in sappy Hallmark card words. I read so much of that last year looking for a receiver and then a half-assed new turntable. One thing I expect from all of y'all Klipsch fans is that the sound we're seeking is true, tonally correct, bass is realistic too. No muddy crap, "No Bullshit!" Soft & rich for the background or loud at the schoolyard 3 blocks away for glow in the dark frisbee. Klipsch doesn't have any substitute in my book.
  16. I know you don't know my knowledge level....but you get a dooh! Descriptive and/or technical info only goes so far. I'm probably goin' full-on pelosi (buy `em before I hear `em).
  17. Being a heretic at this forum couldn't be all that bad!! Forte IIIs @ 99 db sensitivity? vs K-Horns @ 105 it 's easy to see they would sound different.
  18. Thank You for this, already heard what has been said earlier mostly by the chief and dtels wife. I can conceive the presentation could affect someone try to discern any difference. The K-horns weren't matched to each other? Or do you mean the difference in altitude of the drivers. I know there probably isn't another speaker anywhere that could compare to PWK's masterpiece. Well.... maybe from Hope, AR there is. For what you get to experience at your place your description is very complementary towards the new fortes.
  19. GPBusa, I've not listened to much of anything lately except the (insert superlatives) 2015 Accord boombox system or my Heresy IIs that I feel lucky to have had for so long. Thanks for the images. How did those mumps mid drivers do compared to what you're used to? That and the bass are the improvements I'm excited about compared to what I'm listening to now.
  20. Just let go of a Nakamichi SR3A that seriously changed the bright Heresy II sound to warmth. Plus my workhorse Yamaha RX1100 that's doing tv duty since the Trinitron died and flat lcds don't have sound let alone a back firing sub like that Sony did!
  21. Thanks, that's good to hear, obviously it was finalized. Q3 isn't far off if it's not in financial terminology. Mesmerized by the sound reproduction! I like that especially coming from someone displaying that particular "Ray" quote.
  22. Alrighte then, been a week so I'll break the ice. Did see one view of one of these in one of the image threads. Looks like it was a good time for the guys and gals that got there. Any details on a production ready gem of the new Forte for all of us!
  23. I haven't seen anything since the CES estimate. Deducing or maybe reading too much into it `cause I'm looking forward to these I'll share. After CES, Klipsch put a pair of these Forte IIIs in the hands of some good folk here that have experience with their speakers. They also know "the Chief" that's actually engineered these. Sure that you've read all of that already. Those particular people have repeatedly beckoned "Come to Hope" the last week of this month. I thoroughly expect our curiosity will be whetted with some more specific news after this pilgrimage!
  24. ++ For the effort this guy has put into marketing this exceptional piece of equipment! And this has FIVE Wolfson DACs. Top of the line. I paid this much for the CXC cd carrier last fall when I refurbished my 25 year old components. Cambridge makes stuff that rivals the sonic quality of 1990s audiophile equipment.
