BTW, anyone successfully swapped a better woofer that you were really happy with in the KPT- 884 - SW? Would make life easier than researching everything. Gains by doing so? This is for music only two channel stereo. Thanks.

According to the spec sheet, should okay down to 27 hz plus or minus 3 dB and extends to 18 hz. I can say it hits the really low notes well and without in room response MIC, it certainly hits lows notably lower than my JBL's that I trade away which were good to 30 hz (which skipped over notes completely that this sub plays) .

I see similar all the time (settlement not needed). Just don't lump all of us in the same category 😔....

That's terrible. I have many friends my age that I am guessing are right in the same age range as your case in point. I HATE to hear it, but it seems to be the reality everywhere I turn nowadays. Of course I know several people doing very well for themselves at this age as well, but most are plus or minus your example 😔. I feel I have been blessed and am smart with my money IMO, but I feel for those that are hurting, I can only imagine being in that scenario....

Got me this a few days ago on a trade. Hey, if I'm not spending money right now on audio gear, it can't bother her I figure right? It's an older KPT 884 SW. Will get a new coat of Duratex when I get around to it and I'm toying with the idea of a driver swap in it with something more modern. Compliments the 396s quite well right now I must say.

Before you throw your cash down on those, check out that website that Schu recommended. I emailed the guy this morning and get back to me in a couple hours. Tell him exactly what you are looking to improve in your system and what gear you have and hell recommend for you. No blind guessing. Much better IMO. Excited to try his recs and fix the small issues in my system for the better I hope. His price isn't much more than the SVS. Probably better quality and you get exactly what you want.

You got me curious. I took your recommendation and placed an order for a couple cables. I had an issue with my gigje being a little too soft with the 396s at lower volumes. Because all modern linear amps sound the same. Certainly you couldn't hear a cable difference.

Wants and needs are two different things on this forum it seems. For 25 bucks a cable, can't go wrong. Unless of course you think they sound terrible.

Much better explanation haha. This is the opposite of my experience so I guess to each his or her own. I have used them in several systems and compared them to other cables I had on hand. Although some of the more expensive cables may have been 20% better, I reasoned that at 4X or more the cost, wasn't worth it to me.

You have a comment above that mogami cables "really suck". Might want to investigate that before pulling the trigger 😂

That's not my opinion with amps or cables. Much less so with amps.

Your wife will appreciate the size, you the sound. If you decide you need a sub, you can buy exactly what you want. Theres $1000 difference going to Forte IIIs and they are NOT worth double the price over heresys IMO. quartets I haven't heard. Vintage heresys sound great but the new III is SOOOO good. If you feel like swapping parts and or recapping. Possible heresy II might be a good choice for you? Forte IIs are great but around my area, they are going for $1000 a pair consistently(bone stock BTW) , no thanks.

Heresy IIIs are NOT light on bass IMO. They just don't have extended deep bass. Quantity is very satisfying and natural bass. If you can't tell, from that list, I would go with the heresy IIIs. Try them without a sub for some time before deciding to go with one, they will grow on you.
