  1. Recreational use of devices meant to end lives? Me neither. It's a terrible terrible idea. Most of the country agrees.
  2. He has a preamp. The DAC is a preamp. Unless you need Analog inputs.... But you have been running that combo and it wouldnt seem so. Doesn't make sense to downgrade to a Parasound Halo Integrated with less power and I would question how much better than DAC is listening to the vast majority of music over the DAC in the parasound unit anyhow. DAC straight to amp is the way to go when possible IMO
  3. Yes get an amp and use the receivers preouts. To unlock the potential of those RF7 IIIs IMO, you will want to put quality power behind them. Whole different animal thereafter.
  4. I'd suggest keeping what you have and seeing what you think first. Headroom is a good thing. Second vote there. Don't sell that combo without testing it for quite some time. I personally feel that is an excellent pairing. That parasound amp runs class A for the first 8 watts or so. That DAC is a benchmark that others are compared to. You have trim knobs on the back of the amp if all the way up produces too much level top early on the DACs volume. If I remember right, I think that DAC even had variable output from jumpers on the main board. I think you will love that combo.
  5. 190 lbs? Damn that's a beast. That weighs more than both of my eighteens. Beauty indeed. The buyer is gonna be in for a treat in more than one way. GLWS.
  6. How ironic. My feedback is currently 911 as I write that.
  7. Guns and klipsch? I like your taste sir.
  8. Argument - an exchange of diverging or opposite views OR Choice, same difference in this case. I wasn't using it negatively. I don't watch movies and crave insane bass from my system. If I did, I absolutely agree with you. I say it depends on the room as well. Very difficult to pressure a large room from a pair of Klipschorns. Smaller room, maybe. I'm not debating that a large, dedicated driver for low frequencies isn't necessary to properly reproduce the lowest of frequencies with authority. Haven't said that, neither will I. It was stated that a Cornwall III goes to 32 hz and the 396 goes to 60 hz, as that was the model being compared. I said I prefer a sub with the latter for my tastes. However, the bass quality and quantity exceeds what I got from the Cornwall III despite a smaller cabinet. This is a case of numbers on paper certainly don't tell the whole story IMO. IF I had a larger room and neighbors that were realized, I would buy a pair of jubes and a PAIR of danley TH118 subs. So I'm not stating other than your opinion here haha.

Anyone local to Los Angeles area that would want to trade for some klipsch HERITAGE or Klipsch Pro? Perhaps heresys and cash or fortes and cash from me? Depending on what you have? LMK
  10. Sowhat headroom am I missing from speakers that are meant to fill much large spaces? That question has been answered. They are not MEANT to solely fill large spaces. That is your assumption. Has nothing to do with frequency response, ear bleeding levels, an auditorium or an amusent park. You are bringing up points that arent relevant as to why you feel klipsch Pro doesn't belong in the house. The only and only argument I would have in favor of your pro speakers aren't meant for the house argument is that they would be considered ugly to many with truck bed liner finish. Doesn't bother me. Sound first to me. I think you would be surprised how deep the 396s dig in a room without a sub. I listen to plenty of genres of music with deep, powerful extended bass and they would probably shock you. They Def have MORE bass, both quality and quantity than Cornwall IIIs. I have owned both and used them in the same room, placed the same with the same equipment. A sub is not needed for everyone I'm sure. People here argue jubes and klipschorns need subs, not for me.
  11. Thanks chief. Good to hear from you from time to time. You did a damn good job on those 396s. Imma happy guy.
  12. Was going to say that but I figured that would lead to further discussion away from topic.
  13. The subject of residential vs pro lines is too polarizing. Might need it’s own thread. Agreed. If you have the cash money and the ability to hear the Cornwall IIIs, I highly suggest you have a listen. I think you will be impressed.
  14. This thread is about the garbage pro line VS heritage line. As such, the Cornwalls are superior.
  15. So now, we have the cinema speaker sounding better in the home, than the home speaker.....and at a closer distance!! Say it ain't so. That's IMPOSSIBLE!
  16. The main point is, I wouldn't automatically disregard the klipsch Pro line just because one assumes they they are designed with completely different goals in mind than the home environment. Cheif bonehead already chimed in and stated that is not the case.
  17. They can be ordered in raw birch. The deal on pricing wouldn't have been the same which would have been a, deal breaker. Also, to customize the speakers is significantly more as well. I am happy with them in ugly black for that reason haha. Otherwise, I wouldn't be willing to spend what they cost.
  18. I'm with Dave A on this one. Took me finally biting the bullet and making a larger klipsch pro purchase for myself. I am thankful I did. Klipsch used pro gear by me doesn't exist (used that I have seen and I look regularly) . Never bothered to find someone on here to have a listen either. I have owned KP 250 IIs, which I sold as I didn't want to piss the neighbors off with subs. I kept my kp 302s and LOVE them for outdoor use. Was foolish to think of selling them. I put them side by side with jbl SRX and they take the cake. They do not sound like typical pro speakers. Typical pro speakers from my experience don't start to sound very good until they start to hit higher spls. Whether it be background music or full blast, both the KP 302s and the KI 396 IIs sound wonderful no matter what they are fed or the volume. I have a full hifI setup inside with mostly uncompressed files through a DAC and you can hear that. I have a cheap, bottom of the line behringer mixer and old QSC PLX amp outside and they sound great with that, but they Def reveal poor quality MP3s. I have owned every speaker in the heritage line and although I am quite fond of their latest series: heresys, Cornwalls and fortes, I would much rather keep the 396s. Wish they were a little purdier like the heritage, but you can't have everything.
