  1. Haha ... Cornwall's could have been 6 inches taller from a single sheet
  2. Hi @Audio Android, Since your budget is "limited" you may want to "experiment" first. Suggest you try a tube headphone amp so you can decide if you want to go tubes or SS. I bought a "Little Dot I" headphone tube amp off FleaBay used for $50 ... next, compare it with your SS headphones jack out. If you like it, go for the tubes ... just be aware that most won't give you multiple inputs, so if you are switching equipment it will be a pain in the a** (or extra $$ for a preamp). Tubes4hifi.com has a very good starter kit, but it's about $800 ( got one but did not think it was that much better than the Marantz 1060 it replaced). As another alternative, look at some vintage receivers. Sound is awesome, and normally you do have to "play" with them to get them back to spec (clean potentiometers, replace some capicitors, etc.). If you stay away from the "big name" brands such as McIntosh and Marantz, you can get a very good amp for your Forte's for little money. I have a Yamaha CR620 driving my (rear) Cornwall's and it's awesome ... btw; cost me $100 and a little bit of work. Best of luck! Cheers, Emile
  3. Hi Leslie, Sorry for your loss. My condolences. As many people stated; those are great speakers (I have a pair) and wanted by many Klipsch enthusiasts. You can list them on "CraigsList" or on "OfferUp" and someone will buy them quickly (probably for resale). Or ... you can list them here and be sure that they will be "cherised" and "appreciated" by the next owner. Best Regards, Emile
  4. Just open a bottle of wine ... they will sound awesome even in the "wrong" place OOPS ... forgot it's probably about 6:00 AM in New Zealand
  5. Congratulations! Absolutely stunning! Cheers, Emile
  6. For what it's worth Got three Heresy's (OK; the cheap model I's) about a month ago and yes; really impressed. Using them as center/L/R with my Onkyo RZ810. Did not think these "little" boxes would be as good as they are Yes; do have a 15" sub with a 1000W amp - but rarely use it. If I need "bigger" sound I use my Marantz 2252B on KPT-904's and a Yamaha CR620 on "rear" Cornwall's. Awesome boxes ... glad I got them; but may have to get the series III ones Cheers, Emile
  7. Nice amp Sorry, but no need right now ... will probably want it a week after you sell it
  8. YK; agree fully Antigue (haha) speakers are limited to cone design/materials ... think a lot more can be done with panels. But ... still keeping my various Heritage speakers
  9. SO; when are you all seceding from the USA?
  10. From an engineering perspective, the "cardas" calculations do not make much sense. Room nodes are a function off ALL room dimensions ... but the calculator only asks for the "rear wall." Just my 2 cents
  11. Haha ... same here (OK; 16 ft from the wall ). Maybe I'll try it next time my wife goes on a trip
  12. Thanks! Checked it out ... very interesting. Of course the results for my room were "wacky" ... place the speakers 16 ft from the rear wall ... yeah; right where I "sit." (Problem is that my 15x25' "TV room" is part of an about 40x40' "great room.") Will try it in my "stereo room" though. Looking forward to seeing (and hearing haha) your new speakers! Cheers, Emile
  13. Haha ... BUT ... your water drains COUNTER-clockwise out of a sink vs clockwise in the US. And if I recall you drive on the "wrong" side of the road also Haha; would not surprise me if if New Zealanders hooked up their L/R speakers in reverse ... OK; just kidding. Cheers, Emile
  14. Welcome to the forum! For what it's worth Have both as series I speakers. The Forte's are "nice," but do not compare to the dynamic sound of the Cornwall's.
  15. Pretty cool ... but have no clue what I would do with them ... Do not want to offend you with a low ball offer ... pls advise what you think is reasonable
  16. Haha ... pouring myself a New Zealand chardonnay and lighting up a Cuban cigar
  17. Sounds great ... get them and let us know (OK; let us "drool.") BTW ... love New Zealand ... awesome country ... of course I'm biased being from Holland
  18. Don't even bother with the "sound bars." IMHO they are horrible compared to "real" speakers.
  19. Go for the Jubes add-on ... OK; never had "Jubes," but do have KPT-904's ... "they" blow away my Cornwall's, Forte's and Heresy's ... and; the Jubes are better than my KPT-904's
  20. Haha ... have "no clue" why I'm "el-cheapo" now Yes; like "bargains," but everytime I buy a $500 speaker, my wife gets herself a $1000 purse
  21. Holy cow ... crating my set up for transport
  22. @garyrc ... OK; tried some things 1. Compared it to my Cornwall's ... playing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. At both SPL levels, the carbon fiber (CF for short) speakers are badly missing the lower range of my Cornwall's. But ... did a miniDSP adjustment and set the Cornwall's to 200HZ and up ... actually the CF's now were very compatible ... very "clear." 2. Distorsion ... no clue sorry but harmonics seem to fall off naturally 3. Yes; tricky but when I equalized them through miniDSP it became pretty good ... but really no clue Think they would be awesome for surround speakers
  23. Thank you Dr. @garyrc ... learning and it's fun Taking the dog out ... will be trying your recommendations shortly. Thanks a million! Cheers, Emile
  24. foam? genuine carbon fiber panel prototypes ... designed by an astrophysicists, they are "out of this world." The bidding starts at $1000 ... can be covered by cloth or a painting of your choice ... $5 million with a Picasso, $100M with a Rembrandt Oh; forgot ... I'll include a Klipsch label
  25. OK; for those posting personal attacks
