  1. I've seen the speakers and the basement, it's not moldy. At $1,300, someone would get a bargain
  2. It was so cold in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Waterboro, Maine that Ryan Park saw a chicken with a capon. Naturally, that put him in such a fowl mood that he tried to have sex with a customer, but he couldnt pullet off. Is that another chicken joke?

  5. Check out the negative feedback to and from the winning bidder. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Klipschorn - THE ORIGINAL CORNER SPEAKER Furthermore, he lives in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Florida so local pickup might be problematic. The seller has already emailed me regarding his concerns about the winning bidder and the finality of the sale. If the sale falls through a bargain awaits. Ill keep you posted.
  6. Perfect and audio do not mix well. Whats perfect for one person is not perfect for another. The heritage starter system that I assembled for my son consists of the following: Heresy speakers from eBay ~$300 (including shipping); H/K 430 receiver from eBay ~$75 (including shipping); and Magnavox/Philips CD player free from brother-in-law. If anyone can put together a better system for less than $500, Ive yet to hear it. While buying used speakers is not for everyone, it has never scared me. If an unmodified Klipsch heritage speaker works at all, it probably works as well as the day it was made, and will continue to do so long after we've gone to our rewards. The tweeter (the part most likely to be failed and to go unnoticed by a hard of hearing seller) is easily and inexpensively repaired.
  7. The seller replied to my email. He's not the Canadian who previously listed the Klipsch-like bass bin on eBay and also offered custom made wooden horns. The search continues for that website.
  8. A bid has been placed on these speakers. In less than 13 hours they will be gone to the high bidder.

He also makes a 311 equivalent (300hz), the prices are reasonable for the beautiful work IMHO. regards, tony ---------------- Tony- I agree. Ive exchanged emails with the guy, but Ive misplaced the email address and their web address. Do you have either or both? They also make a folded corner horn patterned after the Khorn bass bin, but larger, as I recall. While doing a Google search for the sellers website, I ran across the following: http://www.woodhorn.com/ Its not the same fabricator, but it too is interesting. I emailed the seller to get the web address. Heres a link to the eBay auction: Solid Wood Horns Inspired by JBL, Altec, TAD Thanks
  11. What books would you recommend to someone trying to learn about tube amplifiers? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Like many others newly arriving or returning to tubes, I would like to understand whats going on, perform service, adjustments, upgrades and, perhaps, build an amplifier from scratch. So far Ive acquired and read: Beginners Guide To Tube Audio Design, by Bruce Rozenblit; How To Service Your Own Tube Amp, by Tom Mitchell; and Building Valve Amplifiers, by Morgan Jones I would rate them in the order listed and recommend reading them in that order. The Rozenblit and Jones books are available from http://www.audioxpress.com/ . All three are probably available from Amazon. The Mitchell book is specifically about guitar amplifiers, but its useful. What other books would you recommend?
  12. Here's the link: H/K 430 Receiver
  13. Please let us know if the receiver works; after the seller described it by saying, "All I can say it powers up and lights come on." I hope it works perfectly and that you enjoy it for years to come Nevertheless, I'm curious about a seller who wouldn't actually hook it to a source and speakers, unless he knew that there would be trouble.
  14. The topic is covered in The Dope From Hope papers and elsewhere in numerous posts, most are probably in the 2-Channel forum. The thread below deals with the hardware needed to derive the center channel. It's author, DrBill is an advocate of the three channel setup. He could answer your questions. CENTER CHANNEL "BLACK BOX" I've heard it properly set up. It works very well; especially with Khorns in the corners against the long wall of a space. It fills in the center.
  15. A knowledgeable visitor (member?) to this Forum contacted me regarding his interest in purchasing Khorns or possibly Cornwalls. Apparently he has heard neither. I encouraged him to listen to each prior to making any purchase. He's welcome to hear my Cornwalls in a less than ideal setting, but <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Birmingham is almost an hour from Ann Arbor. Are there Khorn and/or Cornwall owning Forum members closer to Ann Arbor who would be willing to demonstrate their speakers to this interested individual? If so send a PM or contact me at nkdisney@comcast.net and I will let him know of the possible audition. This topic is also posted in the 2 Channel forum.

I rent warehouse space in a commercial building. There is plenty of space. They could hide in a corner under a tarp next to the landlord's upright piano. In the unlikely event that the landlord would say anything, he would not demand immediate removal, and then they could move to my garage. No payment is required, and none would be accepted. Although some crab cakes when you arrive would be nice. Just be ready to help a Forum member who needs assistance someday in Maryland.
  20. Yes. See below. Detroit area Khorns again on eBay White Khorns in Harper Woods, MI and Khorn White Sale in Detroit area I could collect them in our van and store them in our warehouse in Birmingham, MI. Remember, when picking up Khorns, always lift with the legs, not with your back.
  21. Through eBay I received a "second chance" offer to BIN at my high bid of $511.00. I hit the bid button and paid through PayPal. Now I'm listening to the Cornwalls as I type. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> The best part is the seller bargained herself down to $475, due to an insignificant bit of loose veneer. I left with the Cornwalls and $36.00 in cash. While it pays to be cautious, not everyone on eBay is a crook and not everything is a scam.
  22. The white Khorns in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Harper Woods were re-listed on eBay. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Klipschorn - THE ORIGINAL CORNER SPEAKER The starting bid is now more reasonable. They would be worth it at that price, to the right person. Wes (Shape Shifter) and I saw and heard these speakers. Feel free to contact me at nkdisney@comcast.net if you want more details. A prior thread, White Khorns in Harper Woods, MI has more pictures and info. Neither Wes nor I have any interest in these speakers other than to alert interested and appreciative individuals to there availability.
